  1. 🙂 It’s 26 degrees outside. Not good for us huddled up inside, But good that we can stay inside and the apple and peach growers love it. Everyone around here was worried for a while.

  2. 😦 Since hubby isn’t home, I have to start the fire in the furnace this morning
🙂 We have oil for the furnace so I didn’t have to get up at night to feed wood into it
🙂 Two straight days of snow – beautiful
😦 Road still wasn’t ploughed last evening
    🙂 Four wheel drive!

  3. Oh for Pete’s sake – forgot to double enter after each line!
It’s okay, Kare. I can see which emoticon goes with which sentence fine. Now for the sake of other people…

  4. 🙂 It’s supposed to make it up to 72 degrees today.

    😦 I’m working all day.

🙂 But should have time to make good progress on a project I’m working on that’s due this coming week. If no one gets killed. In that case, I’ll have to cover that instead. 😦

😦 My neck has been giving me grief. Doing some exercises to try to loosen it up.

😦 Lots of strangers/bean-counter types & company VPs in suits running around the paper of late. So that has everyone speculating. Or it could just be the usual first-of-the-year financial panic. Welcome to the world of newspapers.

🙂 On the plus side, we get to scavenge the left-overs of their fancy little sandwiches-and-salad lunches every day.

  5. 😦 Started out for three different activities this week and ended up going back home, because of my husband’s vertigo attacks. Missed my dad’s 86th birthday dinner last night.

🙂 All the little things that are such a joy. Today we had several evening grosbeaks on the feeder. I forgot how beautiful they are. We get several kinds of grosbeaks, but this was the first sighting of these.

🙂 The joy of my grandchildren and all the children who bring us laughter. My daughter commented on fb that her son was telling his sister that God is in the air we breathe and so are all the angels around us. His sister told him, then she better hold her breath.

  6. Number four son, a fifteen year old, was able to successfully repair and blast off a rocket left behind by number two son, fifteen years ago. I read October Sky to them both but at different times. They both think it is really cool. Fourth son had to call second son to get some technical help. Boys. I do love them.

  7. 🙂 Nice weather for a walk with the dog- over two miles!

😦 D2 is taking her away Monday. The dog belongs (technically) to D1. She and her husband finally have a house of their own, so they are going to keep the dog, though D2 will pay for the food and do most of the walking. They both live in the same town, 70 miles from us.

🙂 Grandchildren will have a dog to play with, even though they are 3 and younger. By the time they are old enough to really enjoy her, the dog will be 13 or older. She still has a lot of energy for a ten year old, though!

  8. 🙂 Making good progress on rewriting some kids’ books I first wrote three or more years ago.

😦 I seem to be fighting a bladder infection, and my husband has achy legs. We’re quite the pair.

🙂 My husband succeeded in teaching Misten something I never have gotten her to do–bring the ball all the way to the person who threw it when you are playing fetch. (She and I compromised years ago on her bringing it halfway and then dropping it on command.)

🙂 I’m caught up on pretty much everything I’m “scheduling” for this year, and have even added (successfully) daily time on the mini-trampoline. (I take Sunday as a day off of just about everything, but have been doing it and the other tasks all the other days.)

  9. 🙂 Ooh, a trampoline? What fun. I still need to be a biker girl and get out on the bicycle.

🙂 Rockets! Good job, Mumsee & Co.

🙂 I’ve ordered Seabiscuit on my Kindle after talking to the author today.

🙂 Tess is pretty good about bringing the ball all the way back, though we don’t play as often now that she can’t go to the dog park as much. 😦 For some reason, she’s reticent to play ball in the backyard, which stumps me somewhat. When I try to play ball with her, she heads into the house. ??? She found a tennis ball at the dog beach a few weeks ago, though, and was so happy.

  10. Kare2012, I just have one — use it for both purposes (I would have separated them but before I figured out the genius of doing that, it was too late so everything in my life is all mushed together, work, dogs, etc.!). So it’s a personal page mostly. Are you on FB? Anyone here is invited to look me up (pic is me wearing sunglasses, as Michelle will point out, w/Tess in the snow) 🙂 🙂 And I think I still have the Christmas star as my banner, I need to change that out.

  11. Kare2012 – I guessed who you are from the bit on Facebook about Donna’s new friends. Sent you a friend request. I have 3 names – Karen K…(maiden name) O…(married name).

  12. A nice rave for my husband: Friday night he was home from work by midnight, after having worked only about 8 hours rather than the usual 12, 13, or 14 he’s had lately, and he slept ALL NIGHT, without waking up once, eight or nine uninterrupted hours. He felt so great, and I felt so blessed that God blessed him like that. He really needed that. 🙂

  13. No, those were when we were in Jasper National Park along the highway. It was very cool – there was one or two close to the road and then we realized there was a whole pack ghosting through the forest. 🙂

  14. 🙂 Good Super Bowl coming in two weeks with two teams who have not been recently. I really don’t care for either team, but like some of the players on both.

  15. Kare2012, they do look “ghostly.”

But you were the one with wolves in your yard recently, right? Or maybe that was someone else up north?

  16. Yes, that was me. It was just one (as far as we know) and only my husband saw it, unfortunately I missed it. I have seen them on the road about a mile from our place on my way to work though.

  17. Oh, and there’s another one now? One of those on the road, apparently. Looks “almost” like Cosmo, a very tall Husky who’s best buddies with Cowboy at the dog park in LA. 🙂

  18. There’s a closeup photo of a wolf in my veterinarian’s waiting room. One day I was there with Cowboy waiting and a little girl kept staring at the picture, then looking at Cowboy. She finally asked me if it was him in that picture. 🙂
