What’s news today?
Here’s a few from me.
This one isn’t surprising, it was obvious someone in the Obama Admin was the leaker.
From ABC
“Sources tell ABC News that the Inspector General for the Department of Defense has been preparing a report in which Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence Michael Vickers is criticized for giving sensitive information to the filmmakers behind “Zero Dark Thirty.”
Specifically, Vickers is said to have disclosed to the filmmakers the identity of a member of SEAL Team Six — though not a member of the team that conducted the raid on Osama bin Laden‘s compound. Names of members of that team are not to be disclosed because of the potential for violent retaliation.
Some in the Pentagon think the Inspector General is holding the report until after the current Secretary of Defense, Leon Panetta, retires so as to not sully or embarrass him.”
What? An attempt to shield the Sec. Def.?
😯
Also not surprising.

This one actually is surprising, because it’s a good idea. Although a little late in coming.
From Bloomberg
“The Pentagon deployed military equipment and personnel, including about 300 Marines and sailors and 17 planeloads of power equipment, in an expanding effort to help New Jersey and nearby states recover from superstorm Sandy.
Military transport planes with more than 600 tons of power- restoration equipment, vehicles and crew from Southern California were being sent to the northeast, Pentagon spokesman George Little said yesterday. Marines and sailors from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina also were being deployed to the region, the Marine Corps said in an e-mailed statement.
Almost 4.5 million customers remained without power as of 2 p.m. New York time yesterday in blackouts that extended from South Carolina to Maine and as far west as Michigan, according to the U.S. Energy Department. More than 1.7 million homes and businesses in New Jersey, or 43 percent of customers, still had no power. The storm made landfall near Atlantic City on Oct. 29.”

From TheCollegeFix.com
“But instead of leveling-up, students can earn “badges” to show they’ve mastered an academic concept, icons they can not only earn over the course of a semester, but also post in social media outlets and even tally up and group together to indicate special skill sets on their resumes.
Badges are trending in the higher education arena, and whether they catch on remains to be seen, but a few professors piloting the concept claim it’s a positive paradigm shift.
They’re more specific than grades, the educators argue, adding the badges also create a carrot-stick approach to education that keeps kids engaged and interested.
“(Many students) were motivated by that badge, so they did the optional badges as well; not all, but some went to learn further,” Purdue University professor Bill Watson, who piloted the program this semester, told The College Fix.”
When will the madness end?

Oh wait, apparently, I have my answer. 3 Days.
Someone will look like a genius in 3 days, if he is correct.
Otherwise, and I’m bettin’ otherwise, he just looks silly and like he has too much money to waste.
B., I’m goin’ with B. Final answer.
From the DailyMail
“If you’re seriously concerned about the world ending on Friday, then this could be just the ticket.
Ron Hubbard has built a luxurious underground bomb-proof shelter in Montebello, California, with a leather sofa, plasma TV and wooden flooring – just in case the Mayans’ predictions come true.
The civilisation’s Long Count calendar which began 5,125 years ago in 3113 B.C. ends on December 21, 2012 – sparking fears among a small group of people that a major catastrophe could happen.”

Every calendar has to end.
They chose Dec. 21, 2012 to end it. They didn’t care what happened after that.
What surprises me is that they went that far.
Friday is also the winter solstice. The sun starts headed back north and the days get longer.
We have an auction at Lions to raise Admin fund money. (That’s our operating funds. Only Lions can contribute to it.)

Do the people in NY and NJ that are still without power know that hundreds of helpers from around the country were chased off by the unions? Do you suppose they would try to run the Marines off?

I don’t believe that last paragraph about 4.5 million blackouts means that there are still blackouts in NC, SC and Va. I have known people to go to Myrtle Beach and We have been to Virginia Beach since Sandy. There was power there.

Pat Buchanan in Human Events The Overton Window at work. My opinion is that the causes of the 1960’s cultural revolution are the VietNam War and segregation. These other things are a byproduct. I supported the war at first, but at the Naval War College in 1978-79 there were lots of VietNam vets. None of them could describe “victory”. Then, I read In Love and War by James Stockdale & his wife. Stockdale was a Navy fighter pilot who went up to defend the Turner Joy from the enemy attack. He was raring to go, but there was no enemy to fight. It was a set-up by McNamara and, likely, LBJ. Disastrous hoax, worse than Benghazi.
i.e. the things Buchanan lists as “causes” are really unintended consequences, aided by liberal judiciary.
“Culturally, the causes of the 1960s’ revolutions — no-fault divorce, legalized drugs, “reproductive rights,” teenage access to birth control, gay rights and gay marriage — have either been embraced or become acceptable to most of America’s young.
As a result of the sexual revolution promoted by the counterculture of the 1960s, the dominant culture today, 40 percent of all births in the United States are now to single moms.
With no husband, these women look to government to help feed, house, educate, medicate and provide income support for themselves and their children. For sustenance and the survival of their families, they depend on that same Big Government that Republicans denounce at their rallies.
As to the GOP’s strongest appeal — we are the party that will cut taxes — half the country does not pay income taxes, and the GOP is about to surrender to Obama even on the tax front.”

It is sad how the left refuses to talk about the culture and how we have come to this point of killing.

Why is Mr. Obama and the left not up set with the fact that Chicago is having almost 80 murders a month? Or how a Federal Park is closed to the Public because the Drug Lords from Mexico uses it to run their drugs and bring people to our Country and that the area is a war zone and people lives would be at risk going to that park.

My wife just sent me this
Subject: FW: The 20 children
This is so beautiful…feel free to pass it on!
Twas’ 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38 when 20 beautiful children
stormed through heaven’s gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn’t know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
“where are we?” asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
“this is heaven.” declared a small boy. “we’re spending Christmas at God’s
house.”
when what to their wondering eyes did appear, but Jesus, their savior, the
children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring those children all
flew into the arms of their King and as they lingered in the warmth of His
embrace, one small girl turned and looked at Jesus’ face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had He gently whispered to
her, “I’ll take care of mom and dad.”
then He looked down on earth, the world far below He saw all of the hurt,
the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand, “Let My power and
presence re-enter this land!”
“may this country be delivered from the hands of fools”
“I’m taking back my nation. I’m taking back my schools!”
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
“come now my children, let me show you around.”
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight, “in the midst of this
darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT.”

CB,
NO.

Why?
Well, just for starters, his well-known reputation.

“Chuck Hagel disapproves of what he has evocatively called “the Jewish lobby.” He may have more reason to do so if, as is rumored, President Obama nominates him to replace Leon Panetta as secretary of defense. If he is tapped by the president, Hagel is likely to face bipartisan resistance from pro-Israel groups that have long considered him a foe. For his part, Hagel has declared, “I’m not an Israeli senator,” and told former State Department official Aaron David Miller disapprovingly, “the Jewish lobby intimidates a lot of people up here.”
“Institutionally, AIPAC would be opposed to him,” says a source active in both national security and the Jewish community, who notes that, while some groups are prohibited from taking formal positions on political nominees, AIPAC will do what it can to scuttle Hagel’s confirmation if, in fact, he is nominated. Matt Brooks, the executive director of the Republican Jewish Coalition (RJC), tells National Review Online, “The record clearly shows that there is strong bipartisan concern with Chuck Hagel’s record and his comments, and I think you will see this come to the fore if that nomination does go forward.”
In fact, Jewish leaders are already expressing that concern. Several leaders from the Jewish community reportedly arrived at the president’s Hanukkah party on Thursday to warn administration officials against nominating Hagel. One attendee said Hagel was “the talk of the party”; another said the controversy over his nomination would be “Susan Rice times ten.” A fact sheet highlighting the positions Hagel has taken on Iran, Israel, and terrorist groups from Hamas to Hezbollah is reportedly circulating on Capitol Hill. The RJC said in a statement that nominating Hagel would be “a slap in the face for every American who is concerned about the safety of Israel.””

“The Anti-Defamation League has officially come out against Chuck Hagel, the rumored front-runner to replace Leon Panetta as secretary of defense. Abe Foxman, the group’s National Director, tells the Washington Post’s Jennifer Rubin:
Chuck Hagel would not be the first, second, or third choice for the American Jewish community’s friends of Israel. His record relating to Israel and the U.S.-Israel relationship is, at best, disturbing, and at worst, very troubling. The sentiments he’s expressed about the Jewish lobby border on anti-Semitism in the genre of professors John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt and former president Jimmy Carter.”

I didn’t like him as a Republican Senator and nothing has changed.
I have yet to see anything that Obama has done that I agree with. Osama? Seals did it. His picks for ANY office? From competent, Panetta, to criminal, Holder. None are good.
I got the feeling that the last election was all about keeping things covered up. “Fast and Furious”, Benghazi…
How may crooked elections have the Democrats run? They can’t help themselves. The first I was aware of was JFK and it has continued, non-stop.

I’d heard that that would be the objection to Hagel. I would note though that disagreeing with AIPAC’s positions is not tantamount to anti-Semitic. They’ve long lobbied for the release of Jonathan Pollard, for example — that’s something I would oppose – he was a spy.
