Who, or what, should we pray for today?
Psalm 23
A psalm of David
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters.
3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil, for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You have anointed my head with oil; My cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and lovingkindness will follow me all the days of my life, And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Prayers for computer to get straightened out, Israel, needs mentioned here and food pantry supplies and workers.

Janice, every third Friday, our Lions club collects food for the Storehouse, a local food pantry. I don’t bring food, I just donate $25. I figure they have a better choice that way and I don’t have to deal with packing food in.
Sometimes it goes to the Salvation Army. Storehouse says it has been extremely busy this year. Sometimes they have empty shelves.

This isn’t so much a prayer request as it is a prayer of thanksgiving. Mr. P’s grandson arrived safely last night. The photo I saw shows a good looking/good coloring baby. He had on a diaper and a hat and some sort of monitor but other than that he was just letting the world know he was here.

Hunting season is a good time for husband to take some of the young ones out into the great outdoors for a few days. But that leaves me here with eight to keep track of and I could use prayer for wisdom and strength in dealing with the folk. Thanks.

A praise for the protection the Lord has given our family this weekend on the road:
I already mentioned on Friday’s daily thread about a situation that could have resulted in a vehicular accident if my son had been coming home from work at his usual time.
Then yesterday, my husband had a near-miss as he was traveling to his parents’ house to do some repairs. About halfway there, as he was driving up a winding hill, he hit a frosty patch (the rest of the road had been clear), and his pickup went sliding sideways up the hill at 55 mph, with the front of his truck in the left lane of the 2-lane highway.
Fortunately, he had the presence of mind to immediately push down on the clutch, and he got the truck righted in short order without going off the road. And by the grace of God, there were no other vehicles on that hill at the time he was.
And one more: today, on our way home from church, when we were about one mile from home, we came around a curve in the road (another 55-mph zone with double yellow lines) to find a car speeding toward us in our lane as they were attempting to pass our neighbor who was about to make a right turn into his driveway. My husband, who had slowed down before the curve, was able to slow our van even more when he saw the oncoming vehicle, giving time and space for the other driver to get back into his lane, and averting a head-on crash.
We are praising God for His hand of protection on us as we traveled. I am reminded to pray now whenever we get into a vehicle, and not take His tender mercies for granted.
