I found a used book, What Happens When We Pray For Our Families, by Evelyn Christenson. I find the following information about how she prays for her family to be quite beneficial.
“First, I pray asking God to show me what He wants me to pray. Then I just wait on God to tell me—either as I read His Word, the Bible, or during prayer by His calling to my remembrance the Scripture He wants to be the basis of my prayers for them. Then I write down and date what God said, either in the margin of my Bible or in notes I keep on file. Then I pray. So the whole process is God—from Him and then back to Him in prayer. (These two methods are described fully in my book, Lord, Change Me!)”

Praying especially for Kim at this time of so many changes. Asking for God’s blessings and grace for her home and family.

I am in agreement with prayers for Kim and her family.
Please pray that my friend, Karen, will be able to attend church with me tomorrow as planned. She has even picked out what she will wear. Please, Lord, may it work out this time after so many disappointments of plans made and broken before.

Lord, we have friends You have brought into our lives. Karen, Shirley, Tracy. They see things in our lives that point them to You but don’t quite know how to get it. Please open their eyes that they may see. Open their ears that they may hear. Make them alive in them. We welcome them into our churches, if they will come. They have great plans to come, but things keep getting into the way. Make the way clear for them and draw them to You. Thank You for using us in Your plan. In Jesus’ Name.
My neighbor has been talking about coming to church for years. She has begun Bible studies with me but only gets through the first week before alcohol and stuff drag her back down. She plans to be in jail starting this coming Tuesday for a time and wants to come to church beforehand. We keep the invitation open and she keeps dancing around it. Pray for Tracy.

Well, it has happened again, another cancellation. It feels like a kind of dance routine now that you mentioned it, Mumsee. There is nothing to do but to keep praying…for Karen, Shirley and Tracy and others we know who are enthusiastic in thought but not in action.

Update on the situation I mentioned on the August 30 prayer thread (entitled “Something New”) regarding criminal activity in my area:
More arrests have been made recently. My neighbor drove past a scene about one mile from here, where several vehicles from various law enforcement agencies had converged, and he saw three individuals in the back of a squad car. Another vehicle at the scene was the same vehicle as one he had previously seen on our dead-end road. (Four families live on our road, and the vehicle did not belong to any of us or people we know.)

Heavenly Father, This evening I ask for your comfort to be upon Kim’s family as they go through emotional highs and lows this weekend. I pray for a feeling of peacefulness to rest upon them. Even though they are losing a family member for the moment, the are gaining a new family member for eternity. May their focus be on their eternal gain instead of upon their temporary loss. I pray blessings of wellness to be upon all of Kim’s family tomorrow. You are so good to bring this happiness into the lives of Kim and Mr. P. Thank You for the foresight You gave to Kim to keep things simple so things can go on as planned. We can trust in Your goodness even though we don’t always understand Your ways. Please let Kim and her family feel that supernatural support that comes from being prayed over by many people. May she feel that she and Mr. P float elegantly through tomorrow. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

Heavenly Father, I pray 6 Arrows neighborhood will be blessed with safety. An undercurrent of insecurity is felt when a neighborhood is infected with a criminal element. I pray for effectiveness of law enforcement to continue to make arrests that stick assuming the officers have found the ones creating the disturbance. You see every move of those who would act against their neighbors to either harm or to steal or burlarize. I pray You would put obstacles in their paths so they are unable to go forward with plans for evil. Please keep 6 Arrows family diligent in alertness and always careful to keep doors and windows locked against intruders. Keep all their good neighbors safe, too. May any anxieties within the neighborhood be given over to You for You alone keep Your children safe under Your wings of protection. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

I told my neighbor to call me at 8:30 this morning if she still wanted to go. She did not call. She was quite plastered at the time but she usually remembers that sort of thing. It is our secret code for “if you change your mind, don’t call”. Still praying for her and reaching out to her.
