 1. #2 Florida State @ #10 Louisville

 2. #22 Oregon @ Nebraska

 3. #1 Alabama @ #19 Ole Miss

 4. East Carolina @ South Carolina

 5. Navy @ Tulane

 6. Mississippi State @ #20 LSU

 7. Army @ Texas-El Paso

 8. #12 Michigan State @ #18 Notre Dame

 9. Pillow Fight: Florida Intl @ Massachusetts

10. Tie Breaker: Pick Winner and Final Score #17 Texas A&M @ Auburn

Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks 2016-Week 2

It’s week 2 in college football, so most of the top teams are playing “pushovers” (i.e.- smaller schools) this week, like Nevada at Notre Dame or Nichols State at Georgia. The small colleges do that knowing they are going to lose, but it gains them revenue. So the picks this week are mostly games of relative equals. We’ll start with the military schools and go from there. A few cross-state rivals play this week, mainly because they are not in the same conferences, so don’t play each other at the end of the season.

Kbells won it last week, so she chose the tie breaker game. Get your predictions in by 12:00 Noon Eastern Daylight Time (that’s 11:00 am Central, 10:00 am Mountain Time and 9:00 am Pacific). Those overseas adjust for your time zone.

1. Georgia State @ Air Force: Can Georgia Southern survive the high altitude in Colorado?

2. UConn @  Navy: Huskies and Midshipmen. Can the dogs sink them?

3. Rice @  Army: Owls and Knights. Interesting. A nocturnal bird against a team with the word “night” in its name.

4. Wake Forest @  Duke: Demon Deacons vs Blue Devils. Is the winner the greater of two evils?

5. Iowa State @   Iowa: Cyclones and Hawkeyes. Have you heard about the prof at Iowa that thinks the mascot is too agressive? Yeah, Iowa City is the Liberal capitol of the state.

6. BYU @  Utah: Can the Cougars go 2-0 against the PAC-12?

7. Washington State @  Boise State: I know what one of you is going to say, so I’ll leave it to her.

8. Penn State @  Pittsburgh: A cat fight in the city of steel.

9. Maine @  Toledo: Just because I don’t think I have ever put in a game with Maine in it.

10. Tie Breaker–  NC State @  Eastern Carolina: It was kbells’ to choose, but you choose the winner and the final score.

Peter’s Pack of Pickled Pigskin Picks “15-Week 14

Championship Week! This weekend most of these games are conference championships. The only exceptions are the tie breaker, which is a Big 12 match-up, and the Pillow Fight. The Big 12 doesn’t have an actual championship. The “unofficial” champion was crowned last weekend when Oklahoma beat Oklahoma State.

And since there is only one game next week, it is included as a bonus. We all know who is going to win that game, but pick the winner anyway. (Hint – Go Navy! Army

Editor’s note…..

(You didn’t really think that would slide by unnoticed did ya’ Peter?) 🙄

Have fun folks! By the way: Deadline is Friday @ 8:00 PM EST.

  2. ATLANTIC COAST – #10 North Carolina (11-1) vs. #1 Clemson (12-0)

Psalm 124

¹If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;

If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.

Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Psalm 46

¹God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.

The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted.

The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Come, behold the works of the Lord, what desolations he hath made in the earth.

He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire.

10 Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.

11 The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.

Today is Friday, so don’t forget to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the young folks at the Nest.

Anyone else?

Psalm 5

¹Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation.

Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.

But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy: and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple.

Lead me, O Lord, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.

For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.

11 But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them ever shout for joy, because thou defendest them: let them also that love thy name be joyful in thee.

12 For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.

Psalm 126

¹When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.

Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.

The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as the streams in the south.

They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Psalm 119:18-41

18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.

20 My soul breaketh for the longing that it hath unto thy judgments at all times.

21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments.

22 Remove from me reproach and contempt; for I have kept thy testimonies.

23 Princes also did sit and speak against me: but thy servant did meditate in thy statutes.

24 Thy testimonies also are my delight and my counselors.

25 My soul cleaveth unto the dust: quicken thou me according to thy word.

26 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes.

27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works.

28 My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.

29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously.

30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me.

31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O Lord, put me not to shame.

32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart.

33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end.

34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart.

35 Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight.

36 Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness.

37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.

38 Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear.

39 Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good.

40 Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness.

41 Let thy mercies come also unto me, O Lord, even thy salvation, according to thy word.
