  1. Good Morning. We had to turn on the furnace this morning!

Husband decided to hike up the back side of Pikes Peak this morning. When he reached the trailhead he hit a bump…his brand new hybrid car with 500 miles on it now will not start. Waiting for a tow company to tow it into the Springs…being a good wife I’m not gonna say “I told ya so”…

  2. Oh, those told me so’s are difficult to hold back at times!

Janice, that is strange about so many having bad seeds. Each year is so different according to the temperatures and rain. We have a local gardening show on PBS the airs periodically during the growing season. It is a big help to know what the latest status is of gardens around the area, diseases spreading, how the climate is affecting plants etc. My parent’s gardens were featured on it way back when. I like to DVR it and catch it to keep up and see other beautiful gardens. I wonder if you have anything like that around you?

  3. He made it to the dealership with the tow driver. Now to discover what happened. I have never once driven his Prius as I don’t like all those buttons and alarms. My CRV is quite agreeable to me. Perhaps he will just trade it in on one not so fancy! I told him to just purchase for me a 1954 red Chevy truck and he could have my Honda. I could have fun driving around in that truck…and no electronics!!!

Gardening has been difficult around here this year Janice. Drought conditions and unending heat. Ya’ll have had lots of rain and heat and I wonder if that combination made for the seeds to germinate? Several neighbors have erected greenhouses on their property this year and I’m not certain how they have made out with their plantings. We have been contemplating building a greenhouse.

  4. Yeah, NJ. An old truck that drives like a truck, not like a fancy car. Build those muscles turning the steering wheel. Grind the gears when you don’t press the clutch all the way. Yup, I have that experience with my 1994 Toyota, but wouldn’t trade it for anything, except maybe an older truck.

  5. Good afternoon. A good friend took me up to get mail yesterday (about an hour drive) and to the lawyer’s office today (a little over half and hour away). Only God provides such good people to help those in need.

I keep reminding myself of the old question: How do you eat an elephant? Answer: One bite at a time. I have been taking some big bites 🙂

Yes, I thought perhaps all the rain might have been too much for the gardens to produce much. It is easy to go to conspiracy thinking about such things. Remembering how many unvetted people moved here and not knowing how many may be trying to destroy our food sources.

  6. Car is in the shop. It was more than a bump..it was a hole. So far a busted radiator hose but could be more. Disappointing but they loaned him a truck while they dig into what happened. This might get expensive! Learning lessons….

Peter I drove an old VW bus for a while. No power steering and it rode like a bus! Shifting and bouncing around but it was so much fun!

Paul has a 2002 Tundra that he loves but it gets lousy gas mileage. He wanted something more economical so there ya have it!

  7. Poor husband is having a rough day of it. When he hit the pot hole it evidently bent a core frame on the radiator and may have cracked the radiator. Car was towed to a body shop because they couldn’t get the codes to run. This is adding up and he now regrets purchasing said car. He said the hit wasn’t anything we haven’t experienced in other cars but this one must be more “sensitive”….we haven’t even seen the bill from the insurance company yet but we know what the premium is to be….that saying if anything can go wrong it will…well it is…

  8. That’s too bad, NJ. New vehicles are not like the old ones. My nephew said he never bought a car warranty in the past but does now and recommends it with what he saw as he worked as a clerk in a car repair shop. For sure not all vehicles can go all places. Bummer for you both.

My husband had to leave the regular jam early because of some vertigo. He gets it periodically and he can’t seem to find a cause. He does have a routine doctor’s appointment tomorrow.
