Husband hiking up the back side of Pikes Peak and I am cleaning like a mad woman while he is not in this house! I always get “the look” from the dogs when I scurry around here with music turned up and pay not enough attention to them!
Lighting is so important Janice and I am thankful you have softer lighting. My eye doc told me the other day it is important to reduce glare and have the warm lighting around me. I told her it’s not a problem at my house. No overhead lights allowed here and the lamps have amber light. Husband installed a hanging light over my kitchen sink instead of the glaring recessed light…so much better!
Glare is a big problem for me, but I need a lot of light also. Life gets interesting.
We spent a lovely day yesterday with my daughter and SIL at their new cabin. My daughter and I even canoed a short distance. Unfortunately, the wind had picked up and we couldn’t go the distance we had hoped to do. I don’t believe I have been in a canoe in about 55 years, so it was a great treat. They have lots of work to do at this place, but I believe it will be a great blessing for them.
We all drove to a restaurant for pizza in the evening. This place was on our way home. We were hoping to beat a storm that was moving in and we should have been able to do so according to the latest predictions. The rain came a whole lot earlier. We had just finished eating when the power went out. We sat for quite a bit in the dark, with the lights flickering on off occasionally, waiting for the rain to lighten up. We were thankful for no hail and that we could still drive home in a bit of light. This is the second time we have sat with the power off in a restaurant with this daughter. It happened years ago in Nashville. That time everyone did not have phones with flashlights, however.
The hanging light sounds so unique, NJ. I am glad he was blessed with the skill to do that. Did he or you think up the hanging light? Maybe you saw it at a lighting store?

Janice j had always wanted a hanging pendant light over the sink. Since that one recessed light was on its own switch it was doable. Once husband tore into swapping it out he discovered some sloppy work the builders of the house did up there. It took him a bit longer to clean up their mess but he did a great job and we both like it. It’s a burnished bronze metal shade with gold lined interior…it gives off a warm downlight in front of my sink window.
Oh I love Cole slaw. I had some at my neighbor’s the other night I meant to buy the fixins for it today . I remembered it as I was walking out of the store! That happens to me more often than I like these days. And I was squeezed for time on my way to my hair appt. It shall go on my list for my next grocery run… I’ll need to remember to look at my list and not rely upon my brain.
Kathaleena that sounds like a fun family adventure and the cabin will be a sweet gathering spot. Fixing it up might prove to be an adventure as well! And your mentioning the canoe prompted a giggle as I recalled 51 years ago going down Whitewater river with my new husband in a canoe (his bright idea) It was hot and humid with a bazillion mosquitoes biting…and I thought to myself what have I done marrying this guy!!😂

It’s still hot here. I feel rather used to the heat. At least it has not been so steamy as sometimes.
I had a new light fixture installed over the kitchen sink. It’s a blessing to have the more warmer light instead of florescent.

I made cole slaw this evening with purple and green cabbage. The food processor is much appreciated in making that an easy chore. Delicious!
