  1. ‘Tis the Friday before Thanksgiving
    and all through the town,
    Not a Pilgrim was seen,
    for which I frown.
    Only Santas and reindeer
    on lawns which are brown.

Yes, I wish people, especially Christians, would wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas. I know the birth of the Savior is important, but as Christians, we need to be thankful for salvation and all that the Lord has done for us. I’m speaking this Sunday on “Attitude of Gratitude”, so this has been on my mind for a few days. Key verses: Psalm 100 and 2 Corinthians 9:15.

There. I gave my rant a day early.

Speaking of Thanksgiving, is it dressing or stuffing in the turkey?

  2. I don’t like either stuffing or dressing whichever it is called. I always made it in the turkey. It will be made outside of the turkey, though, now because of celiac concerns. Some people do corn bread stuffing for gluten issues, too.

  3. My younger friend is coming to spend the night today

just realized what she can help me with

last year I bought two pieces of wood to make a cross that need to be nailed together. Then I will wind lights around the cross and stand it on my porch. I am up high so it will be clearly seen

  4. Good morning!

We have dressing here, never stuffing. Ours is made with a combo of cornbread and biscuits finely crumbled, mixed with sautéed onions and celery, seasonings of salt, pepper, and sage or thyme. Chicken broth is poured over it to moisten thoroughly, but not quite soggy. Bake for about 30 minutes at 350°. It is delicious.

We saw a blow up turkey wearing a pilgrim hat in our neighborhood on the way to Publix. Art was very happy to see it. Next door to that was a snowman.

  5. It is a foggy misty morning here. No snow on the ground but we did see flakes falling last night.

I would say we have begun winter decorating . A pine wreath with a plain ribbon tied at the top is hung on the tall pine at the end of the drive. No Santa’s nor reindeer do we have.

We are forever thankful to our Lord for His provision and care over us. And for simple pleasures of soft white lights on a tree to bring calm and a smile. He is good…all the time

I like cornbread stuffing not stuffed in the turkey. Nothing fancy and absolutely no giblets included!

  6. Janice – Your dressing (which we would call stuffing, even though we never stuff it in the turkey) sounds delicious!

I had never had cornbread stuffing until I married Hubby, and either he or his mom made it. I loved it!

But I also love the bread cube kind, so sometimes we would have both.

I am going to tell Nightingale about your combination of cornbread and biscuits. That sounds so good!

  7. Kizzie, that is how my mother taught me to make it, and it has a really good texture. I can’t tell you how much broth to add, not exact, but it should not be soupy, just a little soggy so as not to be dry as it cooks uncovered. Some people add an egg, but we never did. We put a whole round of cornbread with about five or six biscuits. Put it all in a giant bowl to thoroughly mix, then put in a big oblong dish or pan, like a 9×13.

  8. Cheryl, I just read your comment from yesterday about communion. I agree with much but have a few differences, just in recognizing the universal church and feeling all who profess faith and are saved should be able to take communion, that it is not really tied to baptism but to salvation. I do understand the concern to know if one is truly saved before taking it because the Bible warns about taking it wrongly. But some people are good liars even to themselves. Only God truly knows. But churches that interview are showing the seriousness of it so I get that.

Son’s girlfriend is PCA and he has joined a PCA church in the past but is not currently a member of that denomination. She said she’d heard of closed communion before, so from her comment, I assumed her church does not have closed communion.
