  1. Good morning! It was great to have breakfast with the Three Amigos this morning at Old Hickory House. Still talking old family history and having good laughs.

Brother did remember when my dad took me to the store with him to pick up something while my mother finished preparing a meal. She told my father to not get me any candy. He did get me some and I ate it. Being such an honest child I told my mother when we got home. That was the day my dad and I got a spanking together!

  2. Lol, Janice. That reminds me of the day I went fishing with my dad. I netted a nice rainbow trout for him. He told me, though, to tell my mom that I caught it. He told her that and she was so excited for me. However, she did ask me if that was true. I just could not keep up that lie and confessed the truth. My dad was so unhappy with me. I think he also wanted to get a kick out of seeing my brother’s faces. He was not above a joke or tall tale. I still miss his stories and humor.

  3. Morning all! It is a beautiful day here in the forest and for that I have thanked our Lord. The fox, coyote, squirrel and hummingbirds have shown up already and I have watered the plants. Day of house chores here.

My Dad would hide a pack of chocolate covered raisins in his pocket when he came home from work. He worked in the GM factory and his uniform pocket would smell like chocolate! He couldn’t fool me! I still recall the delighted smile on his face as he knelt down so that I could open his shirt pocket to find the prized raisins! And they remain a favorite chocolate treat to this day!

  4. In church, near the start of the service, an announcement was made that after decades, a member had finally gotten her green card. They said it was like a miracle, that it only could have happened with God working out the details. She was almost cheering while expressing thanks for all who had prayed.

The young man who brought the message (a challenge to the generations about handing off the baton of leadership), is campus Baptist Student Union leader at my Alma mater, Georgia State University, in downtown Atlanta. He said until two years ago they could have an outreach to incoming students at orientation like other student organizations. Two years ago they changed attitude toward the Christian outreach on campus and would not let them reach out until classes started, so they would miss out when students would be committing to organizations before classes started. So sad. I stopped giving an annual donation to the school when I heard that at orientation for new students that they asked if any were LGBT, etc. so they could celebrate them. Now I will only support Christian universities and colleges.

  5. I heard heavy clumps and bumps from my back deck this morning. When I went to check I found a deer on y gated deck. My two pots of vinca had been knocked off the railing

I believe my neighbor feeds them on his deck

  6. So sad about your plants Jo. The deer are especially pesky this time of year. We had two doe four fawns and a young buck on the property today munching the wild asters.
