  1. I hope your standby flights all go smoothly, Jo, and you all have a wonderful time!

Today my grandson has his Marine bootcamp graduation. I am sorry we cannot be there. I already saw a picture of him, however, and he looks so happy. His older brother, who went through this years ago, is there as well as several other family members. They didn’t get to go to the older brother’s graduation while all of us, who cannot go now, did. It seems fitting.

My husband’s jam group plays 5 gigs this week. A couple of them are supposed to be outdoors, but rain is predicted. Smoke will also be bad. Today we will be at a dementia facility. The doors to get in are locked, the bathrooms are locked and alarms sound quite often. It is a small space. The workers are always so patient and cheerful. The alert patients are grateful. That makes it so worthwhile.

  2. I have never made it to any boot camp graduations. Though I did make two of the three youth challenge graduations. Husband made it to pinning on Lt Colonel for one son. Getting through boot camp is quite the accomplishment, especially in the Marines.

A beautiful rainy day here, though it moved my exercise program indoors. I am grateful that that is available.

  3. Good morning. Congrats on his graduation, Kathaleena. You have some wonderful relatives who are willing and able to serve. I am appreciative of their commitment!

The temp right now is 72°, and we are supposed to see 82° later. I am loving this in August.

Yesterday, I had a day of phone calls and texts with friends. I had been asked by one to travel to a mountain lake house and spend the night, but I declined. She called, and we talked while she drove. Another called to thank me for a memorial gift I had sent to a church to honor her mother who passed. Then another texted to acknowledge receipt of two coffee mugs Art and I had sent as a remembrance of their son who passed. Some days go by and I hardly talk to anyone, then other days are very full . . .

  4. It’s hotter than blue blazes around here and we desperately need rain. Horrid fires burning out west and we now have smoky skies and irritating smell of smoke. I feel for those in close proximity of these devastating fires…and we pray …

Congrats to your grandson Kathaleena…Marine boot camp is tough and we are thankful he pushed through to victory!

  5. Driving to Seattle for this summer’s wedding event #4 (Black dress for FB pals).

Jo should wave as she flies by!

We live in such a beautiful country.

We’re 4 hours into a 13 hour drive, we probably won’t go all the way, but the scenery through NorCal, most of OR, and Southern,WA is a pleasure.
