  1. I received a message from Kim with some very sad news. I sent her a private prayer for her family.

Please pray for them over this great loss:

“Paul’s oldest son died last Thursday. Complications from the flu and went into multi system failure. He was able to go see him before he died. He leaves a wife who adored him a 12 year old son and a 10 year old daughter”

  2. Thank you all. His wife and children had the flu. He took care of them then got it himself. He woke his wife on the morning of February 4 to help him get dressed and take him to the ER. He couldn’t hold down food and was coughing up blood. By that afternoon he had been admitted and was in ICU. The doctor knelt down and told his wife that “He may make it, but if there is anyone that should be here you need to call them”. Paul flew up the next day and stayed 5 days. The decision was made to move him to Philidelphia to a more intense care. He was responding to commands, squeezing hands, and wiggling toes…but all the antibiotics and anti-fungal medications and other complicatons sent him into multi-organ failure. His mother lives outside of Dallas and was able to get a flight that night and the next day Daughter in Law called Paul that morning to tell him what the doctor had said and that she was signing a DNR. Paul agreed with her decision. That afternoon they stopped treatment and gave him some medication to calm him and within a few minutes he left peacefully with his wife, his son, and his mother with him. The saddest thing I have seen is his mother took a photo if the printout of his last heartbeats.

That jarred me. How many expectant mother’s listen to their babies hearbeats…and then as a mother have to watch you firstborn’s last heartbeats.

  4. A very sad day, indeed. Prayers for all.

I have been thinking of and praying for y’all all day long, Kim.

Now, Mumsee. Prayers for all of y’all. These things should not be. God’s comfort and peace that passes understanding, and a covering of the blood of Jesus over any who travel. Blessings on the family that stays and prays at the Nest.

  6. So sad for both of you as well and your families! My prayers for all.

Ironically, the flu situation is very similar to our pastor’s situation. It is a miracle he has pulled through. He has much work to do now for rehab. He just started being able to eat on his own. He is still very weak.

Who understands why one is healed and one not? We can only trust that the God who has all wisdom and is love does what is best.

    Weeping with those who weep.
