  1. Beautiful photo! My friend keeps trying to protect the nest of the cardinal family outside her window. She watched the nest being built of twigs and then lined with beech leaves, one by one, perfectly overlaid. The babies have hatched. Exciting to hear her stories.

I ventured into a new little area I had never walked before. I had to walk alongside the major road for a short distance before I entered a little pocket of McMansions as we call them, giant houses on rather smallish properties. These were all on a half circle off the main road, not a gated community, but what one would expect to be gated, maybe six houses that I had nrver seen before.

  2. I have heard some see Cardinals around here, but we have never seen them here. Cardinals were the mascot at my husband’s high school. It is a nice photo with the contrast of red and green.

I was saddened to hear of Mandisa’s death, also, and hear she suffered from depression.

  3. Good morning, all, from sunshine drenched Idaho. I hear the snow pack is very low this year.

That thunderstorm we had a few days ago closed both our highways (Jo may remember the one coming up from Kamiah) with mud and rockslides and did significant structural damage. The longer, paved way is open to one lane. The one coming up cliffside may be beyond repair at this point.

  5. But husband takes the road to Kamiah several times a week. VFW, assisting elderly folk, highway commission, this and that. Maybe God is telling him to slow down. Yesterday it was driving twenty two son up to Spirit Lake to get a replacement truck. Husband thinks he may be getting too old for this. Plus he spent four hours in his car with a sick twenty two year old.

  6. So sorry to hear about your serious road shut down, Mumsee. That is so inconvenient!

In my walk yesterday, I rediscovered where our closest bus stop is for taking MARTA. How could I have ever forgotten? Once when I had to go to work when we had snow, I took the bus rather than risk taking my car into town. The snow melted and refroze into ice before I got home in the dark. I had to crawl down the yards on that hilly street to get home! That would have been 40 years ago. That’s why I had forgotten!

  7. Morning! Again, thick icy fog and tiny snowflakes. 27 degrees right now…another day of hibernation. Tomorrow’s high is to be 67! I did venture out with my neighbor walking to the mailbox structure to retrieve our mail. Cold but nice!

Our snowpack is good this year thankfully. But there is a time when Spring should make an appearance and hang around until summer right?

A major bridge between Gunnison and Montrose on hwy 50 has been closed due to structural issues. The “detours” are about 7 hours to the north and over 6 to the south. Have mercy I feel for those folk who use that hwy as a commute and are now faced with that! Nj

  8. Nature drama going on here this morning — crane fly caught between curtain and window; bird on the outside of the window trying to get the crane fly.

    Much commotion.

Abby freaked out and ran for her life.

I’ve opened the window (which doesn’t have a screen) in hopes the fly will make his way out.

  9. OK, it seems the fly escaped (maybe only to be nabbed in a bird’s beak, but there you go, chain of life).

Abby finally ventured back inside. The bird was whacking up against the window, fluttering back, then coming at it again.

  10. That probably would have made a great video, dj.

Our friend’s memorial service was beautiful. The gospel was given along with the sinner’s prayers. Everything was meaningful. Her niece (who was in a class I moderated in the past) told us a beautiful story:

She lived close enough to the hospital where her aunt had her last surgery, so she stopped in often. She visited one day, bringing her bible and a hymnal with her. Her aunt was always unresponsive when she went. On this day, the niece started singing hymns for her aunt. (music was very important to her) She had sung over a dozen hymns and mentioned her voice was giving out, but she would sing one last hymn. Her aunt had started keeping time with one finger, so she knew she was hearing her sing. She introduced the song, as she had all of them, then started to sing; “To God be the glory…” Very quietly, but very clearly, her aunt sang the first five words along with her. Those were the last words anyone heard from her aunt, although she lived a week or so longer. It was a wonderful gift from the Lord for this young woman.

  11. Good morning from another beautiful day. The sun should be rising over the next half hour or so. Yesterday my dad said he was going to look for something to wear tomorrow (today). He came back and asked when we were going to church tomorrow (today). I went back and hung up his suit coat and a couple pair of slacks and dress shirts where he could find them. I notice his glass of pediolyte is nearly empty and a cookie gone from his plate. He is very excited to go to church. Prayer for the eyes of his heart to be opened.

  12. Art went to church with me this morning. So nice that he’s back! He thought the pastor’s son did an excellent sermon.

The sermon had a lot to do with how to live as Christians when the government is not showing favor or is showing hostility to Christians. It was based on Paul being mistreated when arrested. He spoke about giving honor to all people because they are made in the image of God and exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit because we are different with our citizenship in God’s Kingdom. He gave an endorsement for King Jesus 😅

  13. Praying gof your Dad, Mumsee. He must be so close to acceptance. Are there others who sre going before him to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior so he can see a current example? Do you think he would watch services on television or online? Maybe Dr. David Jeremiah who is doing a wonderful series now?

  15. Thanks Janice, but he tunes out on those. He is going for the social interaction but he read a clear Gospel message in the songs and read in Revelation today. May God’s Word produce fruit.
