We think we figured out the smoking wood stove issue. It appears the Fancy New Heating System was a downgrade as it makes a low pressure system so we can no longer use the wood stove. Hopefully only when the FNHS is on. But the FNHS only gets my dad up to sixty eight whereas the stove kept a steady eighty five.
Good morning, all. A beautiful clear day here with some planet shining brightly in the early morning. About twenty five and frosty outside.
Very belatedly I’ll share my answer to Thursday’s QOD. I’m thankful that KJ survived her illness and hospitalization in August and is doing well. I’m thankful for my new daughter-in-law and the life she and Flyboy are sharing now. I’m thankful for the chance to get to know members of her family better as we shared a Thanksgiving meal. And I’m thankful for my wife, Mrs B, and the partnership in life we’ve shared for 32 years. And my thanks are all to the God who took hold of me and set me on the path of life many years ago.
Kevin – Since reconnecting with Chickadee a couple years ago (after she had been incommunicado for a year due to being anxious about telling us about being* transgender), she was coming over once a month, with the occasional missed month for one reason or another (usually due to Nightingale’s schedule). Sadly, Nightingale is too busy to even fit in a once-a-month visit anymore, as she is the one who had to pick her up and usually drop her off. (The round trip is an hour, so picking her up and dropping her off took two hours out of Nightingale’s day, not to mention the visit itself.) You can imagine the great disappointment that has been to me. (But I don’t blame Nightingale.)
(The asterisk after “being” is because I obviously do not think she – or anybody – is, but it is what she feels.)
We will see her on Christmas, and hopefully she will be here Christmas Eve, too.
There are times when she can get dropped off and picked up, or one or the other, so I am hoping that we can arrange monthly visits next year.
Kathaleena – (re: your Rants & Raves comment about the mother of your great-granddaughter) – My home ec teacher in high school, who had a daughter and twin sons, once noted that most parents seemed to worry about their daughters getting pregnant out-of-wedlock. But she said that she was more concerned about one of her sons getting a girl pregnant. Her reasoning was that with her daughter, she knew that she would have a steady role in the child’s life, but with her sons, there was no guarantee that the mother would include the boy’s family in the child’s life.
Praying that this young woman will have a change of heart, and realize that your family is as much the baby’s family as hers.
Are she and your grandson still together as a couple? Will they be getting married?
We got home right around 12, and found our street partially blocked by trucks and equipment beginning sewer work. They are around the corner tp start.
We had great traveling weather over and back on our short trip to Charleston. Art told me he was cold the whole time at son”s. Our home feels warm and cozy for old folks. Son would have turned up the temp if asked.
We had a fun game of Upwords last night. It was Art’s first time to play it with Wes and me ever. He is good at it.
Kizzie, they are living together. I have not seen any intention of marriage. It is difficult to know her heart, since none of us know her well. We are trying to extend grace, but not allow manipulation. Ultimately, our grandson has to be the one to insist on some things. I have no doubt he will be an excellent father, since I watched him with his little sisters. We are all praying for the best for all three of them.
My “That went well” was entirely sarcastic. I see red nowhere in anyone’s posting. Except for Mumsee, who figured out how to get black. Teach us how, big sister!
Heidi is mostly black and white, with a little tan, and Rudy is all black.
(In all honesty, Rudy is technically a very, very, very dark brown. But if you don’t see him in direct sunlight, you would say he is black. Nightingale insists that he is black, and that the sunlight just brings out some brown in the black.)
My groceries are also way too expansive. 😉
Winter is here. However, we had mostly good driving weather this weekend and holiday, so we are grateful.
Now back to life as usual.

So do I have to use that paragraph button to create a new paragraph? This is how I always used to create a new paragraph, just by double-spacing.
It’s not clear to me what the paragraph button does, but I pushed it. Let’s wee what happened…

Paragraph
Hmm. I can still just double click down for the extra space. Paragraph must somehow indent. But we can do this now. -dj

Oh, that didn’t work. It was supposed to center copy in the middle.

Kizzie, I was heartened to read on the Thanksgiving Day thread that Chickadee was coming over. How did that go? Are you seeing more of her these days?
(This paragraph is another experiment with paragraphing.)
