Wbat a gorgeous header photo which is postcard perfect!
I figured out why my friend wants me to watch the midwives. It is about the abortion issue. I know several nurses who feel abortion is necessary to save babies from being born into horrible lifestyles due to family poverty. My friend has always wanted to convert me to her way of thinking.
Good morning, all. A beautiful frosty day here about thirty. When daughter got to voc rehab yesterday, she had only been with the dr for a minute or two before the doc wanted to do an autism test so that is now done, results in a week or so.
We have damp this morning, it rained off and on through the night — it was heavier just to the north of us in LA — but rain, off and on, should follow us through our Saturday.
Busy Saturday here. HOA board meeting then off to Elizabeth to miss the shopping crowds of next weekend. They must have placed all the fun stuff in back for shoppers next weekend because there was nothing fun!!
Came home to walk with my neighbor. We avoided the jousting bucks, rescued two small dogs running away from their elderly owner, then loved on our other neighbor’s pup who just had surgery!
It is now dark outside and I am watching Monk while husband is napping!
Supposed to get snow tomorrow and Monday⛄️🌲
I found flowers in a vase that sticks into the ground at Amazon. The flowers are red, white, and blue, on sale, I assume, because it’s after Veteran’s Day,. I also found some loose poinsettias that I think can be added. This is a set of two vasrs so one set for my parents and one set for Chas and Elvera if I can manage to find their site. I hope it works out for us to make the excursion. At this age and stage, we make plans . . . and God laughs!
I think I won the Christmas contest. After granddaughters performance last night I gave her her Christmas gift! Then gave something to her brothers. I have no idea when I will see them again
Up early, got roped into covering an online live news conference on our fwy reopening. Groan. Theoretically I should have time to get to church in a couple hours, but we’ll see; the news conference was supposed to start 15 minutes ago and hasn’t yet. 😦 😦 -dj
Well, that all woke me up, frantically sending live quotes and updates to an editor who was updating the online story. Fast and furious morning, but, whew, that’s over, and in time so I can still get to church. Others will take over from here to update the story for later this evening. -dj
Good morning. Church from home for me today. Husband was able to go in. We’re going through Hebrews and today was Hebrews 3. A warning to not harden our hearts and to come alongside others to help them in their walk. A really good message.
Mr. Monk, the Movie streams December 8 on Peacock. Sadly, there is no air date for Canada yet.
I believe those are a pair of nuthatches up there. Such a pretty bird. I love watching them walking down the tree trunks.
Excellent sermon today from Ruth 2 (by our congregational minister in our pastor’s absence) that covered gratitude, humility and God’s providence.
Our responsive reading was Q 122 from the Heidelberg Catechism, What does the first petition mean?
~ “Hallowed be your name” means: Help us to truly know you, to honor, glorify and praise you for all your works and for all that shines forth from them: your Almighty power, wisdom, kindness, justice, mercy, and truth. And it means, Help us to direct all our living — what we think, say, and do — so that your name will never be blasphemed because of us but always honored and praised. ~
It was the perfect day for a stroll through the neighborhood. I found a red Japanese maple with the light just right for photos. I am still listening Fish Out of Water by Metaxas as I walk. I will be sad when I am finished because it has been so entertaining and is a great picture of life before becoming a Christian. The characters he meets are so unique and his desriptions capture all their quirky nuances.
At church we took communion. With Thanksgiving this week, it seemed good timing. We probably do it six times a year. I have never been in a church that does it weekly. Just wondering if services run long in those churches or is the sermon shorter? I noticed our pastor pickrd up the pace of delivering his message today.
Nuthatches are cute but destructive on stucco…every Spring I just want to wring their cute little necks!!! 😊
I believe M mentioned a Monk movie coming out but it is good to have the day pinned down. I don’t believe we have that channel but if I can get it I will be watching…thanks Kare!!
Another wonderful message this morning in church. We are making our way through John.
We have communion every Sunday but it doesn’t hasten the message from our pastor., Sometimes the message given by an elder before communion seems like a sermon as some are quite long winded!!!😊
Brand new movie, with all the old characters except Sharona. My niece and I both love Monk so she sent me the trailer yesterday. But since we don’t get it here yet in Canada, she’s debating driving an hour south and watching it in the States. 😀
We’re weekly communion people, too, our sermons are always around 40 minutes long. I really appreciate communion every week, it’s part of the flow of the weekly gathering. But if there is no ordained minister present to oversee communion (this was the case today), we don’t have it and then the overall service is a bit shorter.
Grocery store was packed when I stopped in for a few things on the way home. I forgot that Thanksgiving is coming up, lots of very full shopping carts. -dj
As I do every week, I invited my dad to church. Unlike every week for the past year, he accepted. Pray for my dad. May the eyes oh his heart be opened to the Truth.
My church is putting together a cookbook. I turned in a recipe for Beef Lomein today. A lady in my Sunday school class said she was the only one who had turned in a recipe so I was glad I brought one. I will try to do some more. It will be my first church cookbook to be a part of. I have cookbooks from my Mother’s and MIL’s churches that include their recipes.
~ Monk’s Last Case: A Monk Movie,” set to stream on Peacock from December 8, 2023. The film, focusing on Adrian Monk, played by Tony Shalhoub, will unravel a personal case involving his stepdaughter Molly, a journalist preparing for her wedding. ~
Good morning and good weekend to all.

We have communion the first Sunday of every month. The sermon is usually slightly shortened.
