Beauriful header photo, AJ! And cute funnies to get on board for Monday.
It will be in the 70s today.
I think the garbage trucks are still doing time transitioning since they arrived before 8 a.m. this morning. I got the cat litter out in the nick of time.
Morning! Such a beautiful field of wildflowers!
And yes I feel like that cartoon lady…why can’t we just chuck it and leave it as is? I get confused and my poor dogs want their dinner at 3…not 4!!
Warm for a couple more days then boom…winter again!
Husband coming down from the mountain today after caretaking the cabin again. Tomorrow early we head to the hospital for a bit of outpatient surgery for him…I will be his nurse for the next few weeks…and he had better listen to me!! Nj
Beautiful field of flowers there. I never see pink flowers in whole fields. I do see yellow, orange and white filling the fields sometimes. Those are fields left to themselves, since fields the farmers want for hay or other crops do not want those weeds growing. Weeds can be beautiful.
Thanks for the laughs and the beautiful photo, AJ.
Yeah, this time change is easier than the other one, but it comes with its own weirdness that just messes with your head and body (and same with animals that rely on us, apparently).
Is it really Monday already? I shouldn’t complain, it’s the only day I’ll be working this week. But it’s still jarring. Hope I can find a story to leave them with today at least. Copy, copy, copy is the Monday morning panic for our editors, which they quickly pass on to us. “Whatcha got????”
And I’ve made no progress on the Abby-in-the-car project and I need to now also let the trainer know I’m heading in for cataract surgery so I’ll be out of commission for that until maybe later next week (no bending or lifting for at least a week afterward). Sigh.
Interesting that my ninety three year old dad with memory issues, always makes his bed before breakfast in the morning. Yet my sixteen and seventeen need to be bribed. What is the bait, you ask? If they have showered and made their beds they are allowed to watch Lawrence Welk. Is that one of those “only at the Nest” situations?
Our willows are just losing their leaves. Usually a September activity with the poplars in August.
Good morning, all. A beautiful day here. I found feathers on my deck yesterday, and a trail of them in the yard toward the chicken pen. It appeared something had made the jump up onto the deck with bird in mouth. What could it be? So I did some detective work and found some incriminating scat. I do not know but it appeared to be cat scat and we are not talking house cat.
Funny to see you speak of Lawrence Welk, Mumsee. Eric Metaxas mentioned the program in his book saying he and his brother liked all the tv programs except that one, but would watch simply to be in the company of their beloved relative.
It’s such a lovely blue sky sunny day here. I imagine the mountains are beautiful today with the brilliant leaf color. I am going through a box full of old cards. I think I will save the artful card faces and give them to the church school for use with children’s projects. Am I silly for taking time to do that when I could much more easily toss them all?
Saw a photo yesterday of one of our LA coyotes lounging on a sofa (with throw pillows) on a street-corner sidewalk. We even provide comfy furniture for them here, so of course they like it. He looked quite healthy and pleased with the accommodations. We aim to please.
~ The beauty and goodness of the good news needs to be made clear, in all its complexity and simplicity. We must demonstrate a reality exists outside our minds and our experiences and that the gospel demands conformity to that external reality. This requires disrupting materialist conceptions of the Christian faith through contemplation of the gospel, teaching a robust biblical sexual ethic, and challenging the belief that we belong to ourselves. ~

DJ, I am not sure as there were no tracks visible to me, but I did suggest son in law not have the little folk out running by themselves for a few days. They are with mom until Thursday, it will probably have moved on by then.
I, too, have seen lynx in the wild, but never a cougar. We do have those around and I have seen them on trail cams. The wolves are abundant and do take out farm animals.
I have seen cougars here, in my yard and on the hill across our pasture and in the hay field near our deer fence. A deer fence does not stop a cougar. Day time and night time.
One night I saw what could have been a lynx in the front yard.

That was outside the hospital.
The trees are turning, but the wildflowers aren’t ready to go yet.

Mumsee 😳. I have yet to see a cougar in the wild, but they are around here. Lots of lynx, too – I’ve seen those.
NJ, I’ve been nurse to husband who had minor surgery last Tuesday. He’s been very good, thankfully😀
