  1. The real Aj

Just had a lovely breakfast of orange flavored Barium for breakfast. One bottle down, one to go before the CT scan at 1PM.

    It was quite disgusting. 😳😝

  2. Very pretty at NJ’s with the pines and snow. Our snow is still with us, along with the resulting accidents of those who forget what it is like to drive on slippery roads. It was sad to hear about a five-year-old dying in one of those accidents. 😦

I was happy to have some candy to give out. The two children, who have come for years, stopped by with their mom again. He is as tall as me and they will soon be too old. I forgot to ask them to show off their costumes. They were wearing winter coats, which is not unusual for our Halloween. I am out of the loop for some costumes.

The funniest costumes I saw was the three young ladies who dressed up as a car wash. Two had a lot of large fringe and the one in the middle had a signboard showing she was a car. (I am dating myself by calling them young ladies, no doubt.)

One of my granddaughters was an insurance agent missing her emu. Apparently, the emu will show up, along with many other insurance agents from commercials, when they all gather for youth group today. That is a clever way to encourage creativity and better costumes, IMO.

  3. Good morning.

I am sad that you have to have this continuance of unpleasant hurdles and fiery hoops to jump through, AJ. Prayers going up for you. May God put good people along your path and may you daily let Jesus have the heavy burdens that He is so good about carrying.

We have been to Sam’s. Poor Art had to listen to me complaining about the sun glare in my eyes. I explained saying if he could remember a blanket of snow on the ground with bright sunlight on it and how that makes the eyes feel. I had no sunglasses in his car. But with the weather being cold, I had a thick coat on with a hood which I pulled over my face😀 it was a red hood and coat. Maybe people thought I was still in costume as Big Little Red Riding Hood.

  4. Morning! That is a photo of our first snow. Husband can be spied at the end of the drive with his handy dandy snow thrower…he loves getting out there! ⛄️

Oh Aj that sounds yucky…praying for you always…

No trick or treaters out here. When living in town we so enjoyed the little ones coming to the door…a great way to get to know your surrounding neighbors.

  5. AJ, that sounds like a horrible ‘breakfast.’ Prayers that the appointment and scan will be quickly over with today.

    Where’s Janice?

    Oh, under that hood …

We “fall back” this weekend and gain an extra hour of sleep, yay. And it will be a bit lighter in the early mornings, which helps — it especially will be appreciated for that 6:30 a.m. eye surgery appt I have this coming Wednesday.

When I opened the sliding back door for Abby this morning sometime between 4 and 5 a.m. I got a blast of skunk smell, so closed it for another 30 minute so that could dissipate.

And Halloween is a good time to meet and see neighbors (as are dog walks, of course). I remember the years when my neighbors would decorate their lawn and house to the hilt and have all their grandkids over; I’d put out some little orange lights and faux pumpkins. And we’d chat back and forth from our respective front porches as the throngs of kids surged up to our porches with their sacks open. Candy runs out quickly on this block.

So last night was odd; the neighbors went to one of their son’s homes for the evening, no decorations at their place this year, or at mine, and I didn’t hear the usual throngs out on the streets.

And I decided not to buy candy as it is very expensive I kept hearing, so it was a quiet night for me, lights out (bah humbug), watched some of the scary war news — but I also wasn’t feeling well yesterday either, feeling much better this morning.

  6. Oh my dear Janice there is glare when that sun come out! I have the same issue with my eyes as you. My husband didn’t quite get it until I had him look at an article that addressed the pain some feel. I cannot tolerate overhead lighting so we have a dimmer on the overhead lights in the kitchen. All rooms are well appointed with lamps!
I am attempting to get that last area in the breakfast nook painted and the sun is shining off of the snow which literally blinds me.I am waiting it out for now! I feel your pain sister!

  7. Good morning, all. Busy morning with this and that. Son in law has the sixteen and seventeen out on the porch by the fire seventeen built. Pressing apples.

  8. Speaking of sports, poor D-Backs, they nailed that 2nd game but no others so far; last night’s game was brutal, 11-1, I believe it was, with mistakes/errors made by Arizona that didn’t help.

If Rangers win the next game, World Series is a wrap for 2023.

I’m not a Diamondbacks fan per se but was rooting for them as my one cousin was raised in Arizona and he was pretty thrilled they made it this far.

  9. Art watched ther start of the game last night but chose to watch NCIS instead. I guess he was not into watching a lop-sided game. I go with the flow . . . whichever program the remote chooses.

I finished listening to Michelle’s good book this afternoon so will soon write a review to post. Amazing life with many miracles of supplication through the years devoted to God!

  10. 1 – Too early for snow here, but we’ve had it this early, or earlier, before. It’s cold, though. From near 80 last week to below freezing this week, we’ve had two seasons in short time. Usual for the Midwest.

2- Go D-Backs! I watched the game until it got out of hand. Pitching seems to be the D-Backs weakness.

3- Our doorbell wasn’t working last night, so e may have missed a lot of the T or T-ers. Mrs. L had crayons, raisins and some Christian literature. One boy said “What’s this, no candy?” I felt like saying be thankful for what you get, but instead said we figured he had enough candy, so we’re giving practical things. The dad said thank you.

  11. Review posted on Amazon, Audible, and Goodreads.

Peter, those are nice treats. If we lived where we got Halloween visitors, I think I would give something other than candy, too. We are suppose to donate candy for Trunk or Treat at church. I have done so in the past but did not make it happen this year. I have such mixed feelings about doing all the candy at both Halloween and Easter.

  12. Last year and this year we gave out potato chips instead of candy. Not healthier, but a little different. Some of the kids said they liked getting them instead of more of the same old candy.

We had debated about whether to get 50 or 100 bags, trying to remember how many kids there were last year. We ended up getting 100. But we had only 49 trick-or-treaters. I think there were more last year, but the weather was much milder then. Last night we were in the 30s. At least it didn’t snow until later in the evening.

So we have a lot of potato chips around here. We’ll have to find a potluck picnic. Oh, yeah, that won’t happen for the next six months! Well, stop by if you come through here and we’ll load you up.
