Prayer Requests 10-30-23

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 108

A song. A psalm of David.

My heart, O God, is steadfast;
    I will sing and make music with all my soul.
Awake, harp and lyre!
    I will awaken the dawn.
I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
    I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
    your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
    let your glory be over all the earth.

Save us and help us with your right hand,
    that those you love may be delivered.
God has spoken from his sanctuary:
    “In triumph I will parcel out Shechem
    and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth.
Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine;
    Ephraim is my helmet,
    Judah is my scepter.
Moab is my washbasin,
    on Edom I toss my sandal;
    over Philistia I shout in triumph.”

10 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
    Who will lead me to Edom?
11 Is it not you, God, you who have rejected us
    and no longer go out with our armies?
12 Give us aid against the enemy,
    for human help is worthless.
13 With God we will gain the victory,
    and he will trample down our enemies.

  1. Praying Janice & mumsee.

    Praying that the violence will cease soon in both the Middle East and Ukraine, that peace with justice on earth will ascend and prevail and more lives spared in these current clashes.

    Prayer for those who main in hostage situations and their families.

    And a generous provision of wisdom for all world leaders during this time, including our own at all levels. -dj

    Thanks for your prayers regarding my requests last Friday. I talked with my mom today, and I think things went ok Saturday (though I’m not sure she would share the details if things didn’t go well). She does seem to understand the hesitations her children have about one of the two people she met with Saturday, though she still accepts invitations from the one about whom my siblings and I have concerns. Thankfully, there was a third party present Saturday, albeit a person with whom none of us except Mom are in contact with, and the third-party individual, a relative of the person-of-concern, would fairly likely have on rose-colored glasses about the evils her relative has already perpetrated, and which have been documented by independent parties.

    Regarding the piano family situation I mentioned Friday, it is not yet resolved, and I’m getting antsy, but I can’t cause people to respond in the timing I’d prefer. The issue is complicated because it involves two separate households, and the studio co-owner advised me to contact only one of the households first, lay out my policy change, then contact the second household after arrangements are made with the first household.

    The trouble is, neither of the adults in the first household has responded to my email.

    Prayers for patience and resolution appreciated. Thanks.

  3. This morning, Nightingale and Boy had an appointment at the school to make plans for his “re-entry”. They offered him options for what to do when he feels overwhelmed, such as going to the counselor or being able to do some of his work in a more private area if needed. They have also worked with his teachers so that he only has to make up the most important assignments, not the extra stuff.

    This afternoon, Nightingale and Boy had his intake appointment at the center he will be going to for a couple hours after school. There, he will receive more counseling and participate in group therapy. Maybe something else, too.

    To make up for missing work for her usual Monday first shift, Nightingale is working second shift this evening. Please pray for safe travels home late tonight, and that Boy will get to bed and sleep on time. Thank you.

  4. Thank you for praying over the PT appointment. I actually had a student who worked with me under supervision. I had a lot of assessment but not much exercise. Also a lot of strstching out of stiff areas. It was good and nothing painful. It is great to get back for accountability.

  5. I remember also having a couple students working with my therapist, interesting although most of the talking was between them, I sort of felt like a fly on the wall. Or on the table. Or on the leg-strengthening shuttle. -dj

  6. 6 again.

    Clarification about my rose-colored glasses comment above: I’m hoping it doesn’t sound like I’m issuing a blanket statement that relatives are naive, wearing the proverbial rose-tinted glasses when it comes to their own family. Many, of course, are not, but in this case, there are indications otherwise.

    Anyway … what I mainly am here to report now is, with the other situation, regarding the piano family / two households thing, I had to email the second household about something different, so I brought up the policy change the first household knows about but hasn’t replied to yet.

    I know that’s probably clear as mud to you, as I’ve left out details, but I think I made it clear to the parties who received my emails. Pray as you are led. I’m not sure how this will all play out, but God’s got it. May His will be done.

    Glad your appointment went well, Janice.

    Prayers for all above.
