  4. So now that we’ve achieved third world status, the gloves are off. This is who they really are. Authoritarian dictators who you their Stasi to squash anyone who questions their obvious corruption.

And the complicit media plays along, and Republicans do nothing.

  16. The job growth has exceeded the job losses due to Covid. The jobs created now have nothing to do with Covid

If Trump was good at keeping inflation down so was Obama – inflation rates aren’t due to presidents, the current bout of inflation is supply chain issues and greed. As for the US, 4% inflation is half the global average. The EU has a 6% inflation rate. The US has one of the lowest inflation rates in the world.

Rogers or her social media assistant posted video from Hunter’s laptop. You have to be incredibly naive or completely out of touch not to think it contained amateur porn. Posting amateur porn without consent may not be revenge porn but it is illegal.

Apparently Disney attendance rates are down to pre-Covid rates and are lower than the post Covid bump. Not sure if this means anything. Note I’m not a big fan of Disney — perpetuates stereotypes and commodifies traditional folk stories.

  17. “censorship industrial complex” – what kind of phrase is that? Stop trying to imitate leftist phrases. Reminds me of Lindsey Graham in a NASCAR suit; that meme is about a decade old first started by the left.

I have no idea who Luft is but the Lincoln project has a brilliant ad on him. Essentially Cormey (and Grassley) keep promising the perfect witness or whistle-blower and then they disappear or have credibility problems. Its like the boy who cried wolf.

I’m with you. Discovery should be a blast in the Epps case. The Dominion lawsuit discovery was amusing. Can’t wait to see what this reveals.

Meta is the dominant social media platform in sex trafficking? This only demonstrates the corporate monoploy that Facebook, Instargram, etc have.

From what I’ve heard and seen on the Sounds of Freedom, the problem is the exaggerated role Ballard and his organisation are given in the movie. In addition since the movie was made or written, he’s gone off the deep end. I’ve listened to a few interviews he gave on Europe and even I, with limited knowledge, know he’s just wrong. He currently views everything from an American political lens. For example; Ukraine/Moldova sex trafficking goes through Turkey and then to the Middle East; it has little to do with Mexico. The Amsterdam red light district is heavily regulated and has very little to do with underage and illegal trafficking – that would be Brussels and Hamburg.

  18. Anyone surprised that the US gov’t spies on its own citizens hasn’t been paying attention. Of course telling students about the Palmer raids, Malcolm X, King surveillance, etc might be considered CRT and no longer taught in Republican states.

“Chincoms” — who uses that phrase? And to think a trade deficit is a return on investment demonstrates a misunderstanding of that stat.

  19. Though the piece didn’t originate there — The source was:

Warren Cole Smith is president of MinistryWatch.com, a donor watchdog group. Prior to that, Smith was Vice President-Mission Advancement for the Colson Center for Christian Worldview.

  20. It all gets very confusing. So much information and so little personal connection for discerning truth from fiction but we know Who knows. Which watch dogs are seeking truth and which are seeking fame or to tear down the body? Be careful what you hear little ears.

  21. Yes, I definitely agree, we are always to be careful but research is healthy as we are to be wise as serpents.

I have no real opinion on this film as I haven’t seen it and never even heard of it until just a few days ago. I was aware of child trafficking issues, of course, but had never heard of the person the film is based on or his group.

I’ve read some good reviews of the film (the one ‘hit’ I saw in an otherwise positive Christian review was the promo spot at the end, they felt that was unnecessary, was too self-promoting and detracted from the film).

The film definitely has caused controversy, I saw a very long back-and-forth thread on FB last night — most were people in the community whom I know and have covered, taking turns arguing on both sides of the film’s merits (or lack thereof) quite passionately.

  22. And it’s OK not to have a (strong) opinion when the truth seems elusive or the facts appear to be inconclusive and sometimes even contradictory. Such is life. Sometimes we have to say one side seems more persuasive but it’s not a hill I’d die on, recognizing our limited knowledge.

  23. The main concerns in the Cole piece seem to center around the group’s financial accountability and practices — and on some of their covert operations (and the training for those) where questions have been raised about whether the baiting tactics could actually be resulting in a “demand” being created (for children in order to corner someone).

    He cities numbers and examples.

As a Christian giving money to an organization, those are things I’d like to hear or see addressed.

Another more random critique I’ve seen — with no example or backup that I’ve seen so far — is more dubious, I think, one that says the film (or the group?) includes QAnon ties. Without more specifics, I’d take that with more of a grain of salt.

But the first two issues seem valid to me — at least for more clarification and if there are issues, perhaps with running a tighter ship on their end.
