Prayer Requests 2-15-23

It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget to pray for The Gambia.

Anyone else have something to share?

Psalm 32

Of David.

Blessed is the one
    whose transgressions are forgiven,
    whose sins are covered.
Blessed is the one
    whose sin the Lord does not count against them
    and in whose spirit is no deceit.

When I kept silent,
    my bones wasted away
    through my groaning all day long.
For day and night
    your hand was heavy on me;
   my strength was sapped
    as in the heat of summer.

Then I acknowledged my sin to you
    and did not cover up my iniquity.
I said, “I will confess
    my transgressions to the Lord.”
   And you forgave
    the guilt of my sin.

Therefore let all the faithful pray to you
    while you may be found;
   surely the rising of the mighty waters
    will not reach them.
You are my hiding place;
    you will protect me from trouble
    and surround me with songs of deliverance.

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go;
    I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Do not be like the horse or the mule,
    which have no understanding
   but must be controlled by bit and bridle
    or they will not come to you.
10 Many are the woes of the wicked,
    but the Lord’s unfailing love
    surrounds the one who trusts in him.

11 Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous;
    sing, all you who are upright in heart!

  1. Prayer focus for my church this week:
    “The longer the Taliban has control over Afghanistan, the tighter the rules for women become. At first, there were promises that women could work and go to school just like before. However, in the year and a half since the Taliban has taken over, schooling for all grades higher than sixth grade (including college) have been banned for all females. In December, they took away rights for women to work in most companies, including foreign aid agencies. Women need jobs to support their families, especially the many widows from the years of war. Women like Alice, Beth, Tina, and Nancy relied on the money they made working to support their families, money that they are no longer getting because of the Taliban’s new rules. Please pray for women like these, as they must find other ways to feed their families amid the economic crisis of Afghanistan. Pray that in this desperate time, they will call out to God for help and meet God as their Provider and the one who sees them.”

  2. Prayer for the airman.

    Prayer for my daughter and son in law as they continue with her plan of divorce but she still acts as though he is the most necessary person in her life. May her eyes be opened and see that. May the children know love and come to the Truth.

  3. Heavenly Father, Please give AJ wisdom in how to deal with his injury. You see the inside and know what happened at the moment of injury. If something got out of place, I pray You will gently move it back in place. Please help him to quickly discern how to move around so there will be lessened pain or damage. Help him to ask for help instead of making too many movements while it heals. Please let the icepacks or heating pads work wonders along with any needed pain relief meds. If he needs to see a doc, please provide a really good one with an opening in the schedule that You designed for AJ. Please heal this quickly. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

  4. Start with an Xray if it doesn’t go away in a couple days.

    If nothing shows up there, then you may get to go to physical therapy!

    I love PT, to be honest, and I read an article last night they those guys & gals consistently rate highest in “job happiness.” They’re very knowledgable and love helping people (safely) move better.

  5. Picking up on issues raised in @6:45 — I thought this also was a good point on Twitter regarding the Asbury event (which I really don’t know much about or have followed in any detail):

    ~ Do you have any clips of actual preaching that is happening? ~

  6. This points out that there is repentance going on, as well as worship, which I think is a great thing. It doesn’t specifically mention whether or not preaching is going on, but it also doesn’t say that it is not going on, either.

    My question on that is (and this is an honest question, not a challenge as the wording could possibly seem to indicate) – Is it absolutely necessary for preaching to be going on each day and night, as long as it does occur at the proper times? Could it be “merely” a case of the Holy Spirit inspiring on-going worship and repentance?

    Burk makes the point that we won’t know for a while if this is real revival or not. Time will tell.
