Psalm 81

Of Asaph.

1 Sing for joy to God our strength;
    shout aloud to the God of Jacob!
2 Begin the music, strike the timbrel,
    play the melodious harp and lyre.

3 Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon,
    and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival;
4 this is a decree for Israel,
    an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
5 When God went out against Egypt,
    he established it as a statute for Joseph.

   I heard an unknown voice say:

6 “I removed the burden from their shoulders;
    their hands were set free from the basket.
7 In your distress you called and I rescued you,
    I answered you out of a thundercloud;
    I tested you at the waters of Meribah.
8 Hear me, my people, and I will warn you—
    if you would only listen to me, Israel!
9 You shall have no foreign god among you;
    you shall not worship any god other than me.
10 I am the Lord your God,
    who brought you up out of Egypt.
   Open wide your mouth and I will fill it.

11 “But my people would not listen to me;
    Israel would not submit to me.
12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts
    to follow their own devices.

13 “If my people would only listen to me,
    if Israel would only follow my ways,
14 how quickly I would subdue their enemies
    and turn my hand against their foes!
15 Those who hate the Lord would cringe before him,
    and their punishment would last forever.
16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat;
    with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”

Prayer for husband as he is supposed to be on a highway district meeting by phone call, while being with stepmom at the oncologist office talking with the dr. while waiting for the one hundred year old to appear on their door step while visiting his dad at the rehab facility where the hospital placed him late last night.

  3. I have a request for me. I have been having problems with my left eye since June or July of 2020. It comes and goes. Sometimes my eyeball hurts. It gets red and bloodshot. Sometimes it streams tears. about 2 weeks ago I developed a floater. I have been to the eye doctor multiple times with this and nothing is wrong with my eye that they can see. Sometimes my right eye decides to join in the redness.
    I go back to the doctor on the 31st. I have been researching on my own. I know I have rosacea on my face and have found out it is possible to develop in the eye. I really am hoping this isn’t the case, but I am also ready to know what is going on.

  4. “Father God, we pray you would make your way known to Mike. Give him clarity of understanding, a deep heart for those he loves, while a pragmatic solution to all the chaos swirling in Florida.

    We pray that his brother will enter with sympathetic eyes to view the situation calmly and with wisdom that surprises all.

    We ask for clarity from those who are observing and who know what can be done. We ask for peace to descend on his father and stepmother and that they, too, would put aside fear and recognize the solution that works best for all.

    Fill the whole family with peace, unity, loving-kindness, imagination, and confidence that you who know the future will lead them there with grace, mercy, and love.”

  5. Not nearly as important as the above matters, but please pray for a good visit today with Chickadee. I always pray and hope that somehow they will see Jesus in or through me, and that somehow our family bond will grow stronger.

    Please pray that when she is with us, Chickadee will have a deeper sense of who she really is (female, not male), and that it will sink in. And for salvation for all of them. Thank you, and God bless!

  7. Joining in prayer.

    Pray also for one of our church staff members who was being admitted to the hospital yesterday for some serious Covid complications. He’s young (under 40 is my guess) but has had a complicated medical history that included a transplant surgery (or two?).

    And pray that Covid would soon abate completely, that further mutations would be fade out. But also that prevention by way of better-targeted vaccines and also improved and safe medical treatments can be developed in the near future — should God, in his providence, allow the virus to continue to circulate.

And I’ll also ask for prayer for the neck issues I’m having (and now am seeing the physical therapist for) — also for my return to work tomorrow after being on medical leave for my knee surgery for 2 months. It’s time to get back to real life, I realize, but I’m not feeling enthusiastic about it.

  9. Speaking of Covid, Chickadee told us that all of them at the McK house had Covid around late August and early September. The younger daughter, CBF (Chickadee’s Best Friend), now has long Covid and has not been able to return to work.

    As I understand it, now only Mr. McK is working, and his job is not high-paying.

    Please pray for CBF to get better, but mostly that this will draw her, and those around her (like her sister YA and my Chickadee), to Jesus. Thank you.
