Prayer Requests 12-24-21

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Luke 2:1-5

The Birth of Jesus

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while[a] Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

  1. My sister-in-law is in the hospital at least through Christmas. It is not Covid, but other issues. She is eighty, so no surprise she has some issues. Still, prayer is appreciated.

  2. Prayer for twenty who is leaping back and forth between nice and the other side. Heavily on the other but not as ugly as it has been. Prayer for us as we exercise much patience God has been teaching us over the years.

  3. SIL is going home. She had eaten way too much salt, apparently. She insists she cannot afford Meals on Wheels or the other program for Seniors eating from Deli’s or restaurants but goes to fast food places. She is diabetic and has quite a sweet tooth, too. She has a couple of adult children and some grandchildren living near so does have someone checking on her and able to do for her when necessary. Thanks for the prayers.

  4. Praying. Diabetes is hard, I had an aunt who wasn’t good about following those restrictions either.

Speaking of which, it’s also one of the major complications — in terms of pre-existing conditions — for Covid.

My friend staying with her disabled mom in Arizona has diabetes (her mom may, too, but she was raised Christian Science so whatever is wrong hasn’t been diagnosed, but she’s been mostly immobile for nearly 2 years now).

Anyway, friend was telling me yesterday her county has among the lowest vaccine rates in the nation, so this period has been especially hard for her (with her extra risk factor) along with caring for her more vulnerable mom who’s probably around 80 now.

They’ve been locked in for some time — and this is where the issue of how making use of tools like vaccines and masking impacts a broader community and its more vulnerable members overall.

Praying we see the end of this pandemic soon, or at least the worst of it.
