Prayer Requests 9-28-21

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 53

The fool says in his heart,
    “There is no God.”
   They are corrupt, and their ways are vile;
    there is no one who does good.

God looks down from heaven
    on all mankind
   to see if there are any who understand,
    any who seek God.
Everyone has turned away, all have become corrupt;
    there is no one who does good,
    not even one.

Do all these evildoers know nothing?

   They devour my people as though eating bread;
    they never call on God.
But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
    where there was nothing to dread.
   God scattered the bones of those who attacked you;
    you put them to shame, for God despised them.

Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
    When God restores his people,
    let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!

  1. My Little Boy Dog, Amos, is having some difficulty. He wakes me during the night coughing. I am not sure if he is coughing because he has collapsing trachea or if he is coughing because he knows he will get a pill pocket. Whatever. I have it on the night stand and reach over, get it, and give it to him…sort of like giving a baby a pacifier to go back to sleep.
    We have three steps down from our breakfast room to the patio out back. He has always had his cute, turned our front left paw, but I am seeing the shoulder a little more poked out and sometimes his back left foot goes out from under him. Neither of us are ready. I’ve promised I won’t let him suffer. Ex-Husband will be in charge of him while we are gone. He has promised that if anything happens that causes Amos to have to leave me, he will hold him until the end.

  2. Daughter seems to be coming through her covid quarantine fine. Her husband also seems to have it though not tested and also doing well. Coworker is holding his own in the ICU. The one is dead and no word on the others. Praising and praying.

  3. Praying, Kim, you know I know where you’re at with all of that.

    Pray for a friend, K, who almost single-handedly about 20 years ago worked to get our dog park established in town. I got to know her when I was covering the effort and we became personal friends, though the friendship waned several years ago.

    She’s now homeless, she was diagnosed both with bi-polar and schizophrenia several years ago and adamantly refused to take any medication for it. Long story, she lived in the very nice family home worth about $1 million but now her mom is in an Alzheimer’s facility and her dad died late last year; the house is in escrow.

    She had a non-working car she was partially living in but it was parked in a public lot shared by a bank and store and it was impounded when she was briefly arrested a couple months ago for trespassing.

    Her state of mind is delusional, as described by one of her other friends who spent some time with her Sunday. She’s back at the old location but without a car, (she wanted me to do a story on the car situation).

    Our social worker who works with the area’s homeless said she’s aware of her, she’s personally talked to her and an outreach team also was sent out, but so far she’s shown no interest in accepting any services or temporary shelter. K also owned a pet store in town for a brief time, social worker knew her from there as she’d take her standard poodle there for grooming.

    Kimberley stayed with an aunt for a while, but that arrangement ended and she’s now estranged from any remaining family who have tried but just could not get through to her about accepting treatment.

    Really tragic, one of our mutual friends told me yesterday that she’s afraid she’s just going to die on the streets. She has a circle of us dog-park friends who are trying to help, but it seems so hopeless right now.

    Having known Carol for so long I’m familiar with schizophrenia so that has helped me understand how unreachable folks can be when off any medications. They have their own reality (she refuses to believe her father died and is convinced, according to one friend, that JFK is still alive and is one of the people who is “after” her).

    She’s so talented, bright and winsome, beautiful, too, although there were behaviors that would pop up from time to time that alienated several of us (and made it impossible for her to hold down regular jobs, ultimately). Now I understand where that came from, it actually has explained a lot.

    Anyway, pray for her safety and that she would accept some help; she was raised Catholic, beyond that I don’t know if she’s a believer or not, I’ve not had a lot of contact with her in several years.

  4. Isaac, the 17-year old son of my friends Adam and Jessica, had a brain bleed out of the blue on Saturday. They got the swelling down and Sunday morning he was awake and without significant loss of function.

    His grandmother posted this on Facebook less than an hour ago:
    Isaac’s MRI revealed an aneurysm that is not located by a main vessel. He is scheduled for surgery at 2:00, as in now. Isaac knows what they found and what’s going on. He’s not thrilled because it isn’t the super easy stent option. BUT it’s the best of all options and is the lowest risk. There are options in how to deal with the aneurysm which is also good.

    PLEASE be lifting Isaac in your prayers, positive thoughts and energy. Contacting prayer chains would be deeply appreciated. Thank you and bless you all for your love and support of Isaac.

  5. Kevin, not that it matters, but I am still weighing whether or not to vaccinate fifteen and fourteen. Any idea if Isaac was vaccinated?

  6. Mumsee, Isaac was almost certainly vaccinated. I know from Facebook that his next two brothers were vaccinated in May as soon as the Pfizer shot was authorized for 12-15-year-olds.

    Adam, their dad, has a PhD in immunology, and has helped me understand why vaccinated people can still harbor and spread the virus. We’ve not been in close touch since they moved to another state a few years ago, so I haven’t had any other in-depth discussions with them.

  7. Thanks. I lean towards it, husband is not there yet. But being aware of what to watch for and I have heard that blood clots and embolisms and aneuryisms are part of the equation. Regardless, praying for the young man and family. Thanks for the opportunity to pray.

  8. Kim, prayers for peace and comfort.

    Praying for Isaac.

    Mumsee, thankful your daughter is doing well.

    My dad slid off the bed yesterday morning but he is fine. Stepmom injured her back quite badly trying to help him up again. They ended up calling an ambulance for the paramedics to help lift him back up. I don’t know why they didn’t call my sister and her husband – they live 5 minutes away and are willing and able to come help any time. Anyways, she is in quite a bit of pain and did not at all sound like herself this evening.

  9. It is getting kind of late to ask for prayer, but I will anyway.

    My neck is sore and stiff for some reason, and I cannot turn my head much to either side. Maybe I slept in a bad position last night, but I don’t really know. You may recall that, due to the Moebius, I cannot turn my eyes laterally, so the two situations together have been a little inconvenient at times today. 🙂

    This actually started last evening and is worse today. Please pray that I can get a good, restful, healing night of sleep tonight. (Especially since I need to be up early to get Boy off to the school bus stop.) Thank you.
