Prayer Requests 8-7-21

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 6

A psalm of David.

Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger
    or discipline me in your wrath.
Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am faint;
    heal me, Lord, for my bones are in agony.
My soul is in deep anguish.
    How long, Lord, how long?

Turn, Lord, and deliver me;
    save me because of your unfailing love.
Among the dead no one proclaims your name.
    Who praises you from the grave?

I am worn out from my groaning.

   All night long I flood my bed with weeping
    and drench my couch with tears.
My eyes grow weak with sorrow;
    they fail because of all my foes.

Away from me, all you who do evil,
    for the Lord has heard my weeping.
The Lord has heard my cry for mercy;
    the Lord accepts my prayer.
10 All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish;
    they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.

  1. Wisdom as nineteen has found the ticket to weight loss: scarf and barf. But she does not do it quietly in the bathroom, she does it out on the deck for all to see. Disturbing. She thinks she can eat as much as she wants and just get rid of it, not understanding the damage.

  2. Prayers for those in travel status today.

    Prayers for first time college students who feel apprehension and excitement.

    Prayers for teachers like Jo, Six, Mumsee, and Wesley getting students established to have a good year/semester of learning.

    It’s such a difficult time with the stresses of masks or no masks in class or virtual or homeschool. Here in the metro area there is one county which is sticking with parent’s choices made in the spring and saying those who chose in class learning must stick with that uninformed choice. They can’t have virtual unless they get out of the system and homeschool. What a frightening situation some are in. I could almost cry thinking over their dilemmas.

  3. Oh Mumsee I am so sad to hear she has discovered such a destructive behavior…continuing to as the Lord to set her free from the chains that bind her ♥️
    Agreeing with your prayer Janice that our teachers will find their way in navigating this whole new world presented to them….and that they might be an encouragement to their students….

  4. I came home from a terrific trip to the East Coast to word my spiritual mother died in Connecticut last Monday. I’m now vainly trying to find airplane tickets to CT and back in two weeks to attend the memorial service.

    It’s not going well. Please pray I find a ticket that works time-wise for safe travel. I just don’t want to return to San Francisco by myself at 11 o’clock at night.

    Thanks.

  6. Prayer for our church which is seeing (again, sigh) a spread of covid cases, including one of my friends who’s now under 10-day quarantine; she and her husband are both vaccinated (she’s not particularly sick right now) but are in their 70s.

    This may sound blunt, but I believe we’ve missed the window of opportunity with the vaccines to stop the cycle of new variants now cropping up in the U.S., a nation so used to having it all to the point that we can be a bit picky sometimes? We should send our remaining vaccine stock to third-world countries where they’d be accepted and well used gladly, I’m sure.

    We may be in this infectious loop for another year, if our psyches and culture can handle that (and I doubt they can). Yes, pandemics eventually wear themselves out, but at what cost until then? And when it’s not necessary to go the distance due to medical technology? I confess, I really don’t get it.

    But here we are.

    God knows.

    And I’m sorry for the ‘rant,’ I’m feeling discouraged right now.

    Many of you probably disagree.

    It’s back to virtual church I guess.

  7. DJ, what you said is basically what my pastor said on Sunday during the service. It certainly is an acceptable point of view.

    I know someone whose husband had a horrible case of Covid. She took care of him and never got it. I think some ed people have natural immunity. She was tested for antibodies thinking perhaps she’d had a mild case of it. No, she hadn’t. Certain things make some people more likely to be susceptible than others. Early on they said blood type O+ tended to be more resistant. Other nutritional aids can help resistance, also. Please give grace to those who choose an alternative way.

  8. Natural immunity is great — for those who survive the disease without lasting ravaged lungs and other organ damage.

    Otherwise, a pretty heavy price to pay in fighting a pandemic on the virus’ terms.

  9. Unfortunately, only the vaccines protect from the Delta Variant. My husband spent our entire “vacation” dealing with COVID issues from work. 😦

    🙂 Got my plane tickets, car rented, one friend to visit the first night, and now I just need a place to stay in Groton.
