Prayer Requests 7-2-21

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 124

A song of ascents. Of David.

If the Lord had not been on our side—
    let Israel say—
if the Lord had not been on our side
    when people attacked us,
they would have swallowed us alive
    when their anger flared against us;
the flood would have engulfed us,
    the torrent would have swept over us,
the raging waters
    would have swept us away.

Praise be to the Lord,
    who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
We have escaped like a bird
    from the fowler’s snare;
   the snare has been broken,
    and we have escaped.
Our help is in the name of the Lord,
    the Maker of heaven and earth.

  2. The radiologist looked at the second mammogram while I waited. All clear, no problems, see me next year,

    I wasn’t surprised, but I’m still thankful. 🙂

    And thanks for your prayers, too!

  3. A prayer request that Joanne (AjiSuun) posted on Facebook:

    “Please pray for a good friend of mine, PC. She is not a believer, but has been a good friend to many missionaries over the years. She has been swamped with troubles in the past couple months. Her grandson broke his leg in two places (upper and lower leg) in a motorcycle accident and had a head injury.. PC has been caring for him at her home (most don’t use casts here, so the patient has to be kept almost completely immobilized). Then her brother (KC) got very sick and ended up in the hospital. Hospital patients here are tended by family members, so guess who had to go help her brother? I just just got a call from her saying that her other brother (JC) had a stroke a couple days ago. She spent the day tending her brothers and was on her way home to check on her grandson. At least right now all of the patients are in the same village. The grandson is doing much better so he isn’t requiring quite as much care, but I don’t think he’s able to be up and around yet.

    There are others involved in caring for these men, but PC has the compassion and intelligence to do it really well so everyone leans on her. She is exhausted and this is financially draining for the family as well. She (and her young adult sons) end up buying much of the medicine because others whose responsibility it really is, don’t step up.

    Pray that this time of hardship will open her heart to the gospel.”

  4. Please pray for both Nightingale and Boy. She is so very frustrated and angrily exasperated with him. A little while ago, she was very angry, and I could hear her yelling at him, with frustration and exasperation in her voice, and it sounded as if she might be on the verge of tears.

    While I was typing that paragraph, Boy came down to get away from his mother. At first he wasn’t too communicative, but as I gently spoke with him and encouraged him to talk to me, he slowly opened up. From what he said, it sounds like he is depressed. That could also explain why he always thinks he feels hungry. (Depression can depress the appetite or increase it.)

    I listened to him, made him some decaf tea with milk, which he enjoys, commiserated with him, and gave him plenty of touches and a couple hugs. (What I mean by “touches” is putting my hand on his shoulder or arm – that kind of thing. One of Boy’s love languages is definitely touch, and it is one of mine, too.) Also I tried to give him some simple advice, but he is not open to accepting advice from either me or his mom when it comes to doing things he doesn’t want to do.

    And that is what is frustrating Nightingale. There are some things he should be doing each day that he just doesn’t do, or doesn’t finish, or does a half-baked job of. Nightingale is really a very good mother, but Boy sure is a challenge.

    After his tea and our talk, I had him brush his teeth and go potty, and then he went back upstairs. At some point, I asked him if I could pray for him right then, but he didn’t want me to. But I told him that I would pray for him tonight, that God would help him to find happiness and joy. (Please join me in that. Thanks.)

    Please pray for both of them, particularly that God would minister to each of them by His Holy Spirit, and that they would respond and turn to Him. Thank you.
