Prayer Requests 6-5-21

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 111

Praise the Lord.

   I will extol the Lord with all my heart
    in the council of the upright and in the assembly.

Great are the works of the Lord;
    they are pondered by all who delight in them.
Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
    and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
    the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
He provides food for those who fear him;
    he remembers his covenant forever.

He has shown his people the power of his works,
    giving them the lands of other nations.
The works of his hands are faithful and just;
    all his precepts are trustworthy.
They are established for ever and ever,
    enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.
He provided redemption for his people;
    he ordained his covenant forever—
    holy and awesome is his name.

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
    all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
    To him belongs eternal praise.

  2. Heavenly Father,

    Thank You for another Sunday to worship and praise You. May many have opportunity to attend church where Your truth is spoken and sent out into the world to not return void.

    Lord, You know all about the situation with Cheryl J.’s beloved mother. You know the heartache of times like this that have such a mixture of feelings of sadness and grief with the relief for ended suffering. Please give AJ’s family safety in travels. Please support them in ways only You know they need support. Please be a felt presence of love and goodness with each of the family members, and especially with Cheryl’s mother. If possible, I pray she might envision her escort into eternity with Jesus. Please infuse unexpected joy and peace that passes understanding into this time of transition. Thank You for this special and unique time when the family members can all draw close together and share good memories. Please replace anxiety with prayers to restore hope. I pray for wonderful hospice staff who are excellent and compassionate communicators whether with with words or silent actions. Thank You for arranging this time frame for when Liz had finished her classes. You are in the details. Thank You for hearing my prayer and the prayers of many others, in Jesus’ name Amen

  3. Pray for J, a woman in our church who has been diagnosed with a return of breast cancer along with cancer in several other areas. She’s in 50s and beautiful, has raised 4 children and headed up our children’s ministry for many years, she and her husband have long been close friends with our pastor and his wife and family.

    This comes on the heels of another church member, Dennis, who manned our coffee table for so many years, who was diagnosed with stage 4 liver and bowel cancer. He died just last week after a short 3-week period trying some chemo and leaves a wife and 2 grown daughters. We used to chat frequently about local news, the arrival of the USS Iowa (he was Coast Guard); he was an avid cyclist, would ride his bike around the entire peninsula (which is a long and hilly ride).

    Cancer seems to be so prevalent; J’s mom died of breast cancer and J had that same gene (that can result in a very aggressive form of breast cancer in younger women) so she’d had a mastectomy some 15 years ago (but her own breast cancer may have appeared after that? I remember at the time the mastectomy was said to have been precautionary due to her high risk). At any rate, she’d been cancer free until now.

    I did a story on her once, she was selling items made from reclaimed wood from the Hollywood Bowl back when the outdoor venue was changing out its historic seating (her brother had the contract to remove the seats and got permission to salvage some of the wood for her). The large cross than hangs at the front of our church was made from that.
