  1. No news means it’s Sat. and I got to it late, as usual on a Sat..

In a just world, sure. But we don’t live in one of those.

“Following the Politics, Not the Science

Scientists and journalists should reckon with their early dismissals of the lab-leak hypothesis.”

“It is a disturbing prospect, like something out of a science fiction novel, but it’s appearing increasingly plausible nonetheless: the cause of the worldwide Covid-19 pandemic, which has killed millions and cost tens of trillions of dollars, may have been a viral escape from a Wuhan, China virology laboratory.

The latest indicator pointing toward a man-made catastrophe—that, until now, has been obscured with the aid of credulous media and scientists—comes from the Wall Street Journal, which reported that U.S. intelligence found that three researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology were hospitalized in November 2019 with symptoms consistent with Covid-19. That is well before the Chinese government’s claim that the first confirmed case occurred on December 8, 2019. This new report echoes a January 15, 2021 State Department fact sheet that reported several Wuhan Institute researchers became ill in autumn 2019. The steady accumulation of circumstantial evidence has prompted President Biden to order a review.

Early in the pandemic, conservative newspapers, like the Daily Mail and the Washington Times, and Senator Tom Cotton raised the possibility of a Chinese lab leak. The Washington Post dismissed such speculation as a debunked conspiracy theory. The New York Times labeled it a “fringe theory.”

The scientific establishment also weighed in, disregarding early papers from Chinese and American scientists with evidence that suggested a lab leak origin. One group, citing mostly Chinese sources, declared in The Lancet that the coronavirus originated in wildlife, not a laboratory, and praised Chinese scientists and public-health officials “who continue to save lives and protect global health.” Five other virologists in a letter to Nature Medicine stated that “SARS-CoV-2 is not a laboratory construct or a purposefully manipulated virus.” Anthony Fauci, in a May 2020 National Geographic interview, said the evidence indicated that the virus “evolved in nature and then jumped species” and had not escaped from a Chinese lab.

These early reassurances were based on surmise, not facts. They ignored that virologists in China—most prominently, the Wuhan Institute’s Shi Zhengli (“the Bat Lady”)—were actively engaged in gain-of-function research in which naturally occurring coronaviruses collected from bats were manipulated to acquire the ability to infect humans. They ignored that such research often utilizes serial viral passage through lab animals that mimics the process of a natural zoonotic jump between species. When a World Health Organization team visited Wuhan in February 2020, the institute’s staff refused to share data, safety logs, or lab records. Remarkably, that did not stop the WHO from concluding that a lab leak was “extremely unlikely.” Only four of the 313 pages of their report addressed the possibility of a lab accident.

More than a year has passed since then, with scientists assuring for most of that time that SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for Covid-19, emerged naturally. But no scientist, Chinese or Western, has produced a presumed bat source population, an intermediate species that functioned as a viral conduit between bats and humans, or evidence that the virus was present anywhere before it emerged in Wuhan. In contrast, during the 2003 SARS outbreak in China, researchers uncovered evidence of intermediate animal hosts and serologic signs of infections in animal traders within months. Analyses of SARS-CoV-2’s rate of mutation indicate that it likely began spreading several weeks earlier than the official first case date—December 8, 2019—a fact that makes the Covid-19-like illness of three lab workers in November so intriguing.”

“Scientists are finally beginning to take the possibility of Chinese negligence or malfeasance seriously. In a letter to the journal Science, 18 leading virologists wrote that accidental lab release remains a viable possibility and urged the Wuhan scientists to cooperate fully with additional investigations. One of the signatories, Ralph Baric, is the world’s leading expert on gain-of-function research in coronaviruses and had collaborated with Zhengli in the past. While he believes natural evolution is a more likely explanation than gain-of-function research and a lab leak, he is calling for an open, through investigation of the Wuhan Institute and its safety protocols. Other scientists point out that several peculiar characteristics of SARS-CoV-2 are inconsistent with a natural zoonotic origin and that a lab-leak origin should be investigated. Even Fauci has now admitted that he is “not convinced” Covid-19 developed naturally outside of the Wuhan lab.

Some journalists are also beginning to examine the issue. Science writer Nicholas Wade published an extensive examination of the competing natural-emergence and lab-escape hypotheses. He concludes there can be no definitive evidence for either without examining Chinese data, but that a lab leak is far more likely.

The Chinese authorities are unlikely to allow a thorough investigation, so the true origin of Covid-19 may never be known. But even more disturbing than the Chinese government’s attempts to obfuscate the pandemic’s origins is the way scientists and the media nearly uniformly insisted that a lab leak was out of the question.”

  2. “AUDIT of Elections Update: A Week’s Worth of Bombshells”

“Spring has sprung, and the lilacs are in bloom. Speaking of blooming, reports of election irregularities and audits and agitated Democrats and their lickspittle media are breaking out all over. Let’s start this update with signs of panic in the Democrat-media complex, as no matter how hard they try, they will never suppress the deeply held suspicions by many Americans about the lack of integrity of the 2020 election. For example, in a recent Ipsos/Reuters poll whose results were released on 21 May:

“56% of Republicans believe the election was rigged or the result of illegal voting, and 53% think Donald Trump is the actual President, not Joe Biden. Only 30% of Republicans feel confident that absentee or mail-in ballots were accurately counted, compared to 86% of Democrats and 55% of independent.

I would wager that this poll is about as “accurate” as the election polls, too, in that the Republican numbers are in reality much higher while lower percentages of Democrats and independents believe mail-in ballots were “accurately counted.” And NOBODY believes that The Hologram received 81 million legal votes!

The ever-reliable Democrat mouthpiece, the Associated Press, has been trying very hard to squelch any notions that election fraud in 2020 and audits that might prove same are anything other than “fantasies” concocted by President Trump and his supporters, as noted here.

Speaking of “trying hard” to squelch the audits, two leading pundits seem to be getting a little nervous about the Arizona audit (and actions percolating in other states). Rachel Maddow is the queen of conspiracy theories. How many of her shows in 2018-2019 were about “Trump-Russia collusion” before Robert Mueller’s report blew that theory up in her face (her 17 most egregious lies can be found here)? And then there was the Ukraine phone call and her admission on 16 May that “that she has been brainwashed by the mainstream media into believing maskless people are ‘dangerous.’” Moving on to election audits, she has been in the vanguard of legacy media talking heads castigating anyone supporting any of the audits anywhere for any reason for weeks. Check out this 8-minute video on 26 May for an example of her claims and histrionics if you can stomach it. She even quoted Pamela Karlan, she of the impeachment hearing infamy during which she made fun of Barron Trump, and who as newly appointed head of DoJ’s civil rights division weighed in about “federal concerns” about the AZ audit. Given Maddow’s track record of lying about all things Trump, the truth is almost certainly the opposite of what she bleats.

Then there is Chris Cuomo, who was on the rampage against Patrick Byrne on Tuesday night, spending a whole segment trashing Byrne, LTG Flynn, and Sidney Powell on the ongoing Arizona audit. Note the chyron at the bottom claiming Arizona is engaged in a “fraudit.” I mean, what is ol’ Chris worried about if he and the rest of the Democrat mouthpieces at CNN believe that 2020 was “the most secure election in US history”? Methinks he bleats just a LITTLE too loudly and is just a TINY bit worried about what will be found in Arizona.

Could it be that reports of election irregularities that have been seeping out from several swing states are having a deleterious effect (from the Democrats’ point of view) on the public’s opinion about the integrity – or lack thereof – of the 2020 elections? Is that why Maddow and Cuomo are getting pretty emotional about the Arizona audit and the crescendo of related actions around the country? Let’s take a look.”

  3. From the above….

“Michael Patrick Leahy: “Here’s what’s shocking about it, 85% of the (dropbox) ballots, or over 50,000 were not transported from the dropbox to the registrar immediately as the Georgia state law requires… 5% of them, well over 3,000 were delivered before they were picked up. How can you do that?

Steve Bannon: Stop, stop, stop! Walk me through – give me that one again. You’re breaking the law of physics.

Michael Patrick Leahy: We have examined, every single one of the 1,100 document transfer forms, collection box, dropbox collections from September 24 to November 3rd… One delivery in College Park was delivered 22 minutes before it was picked up!”

“We now have two state senators, Republicans, Beach and Jones, who are calling for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to be side-by-side with the forensic analysis looking at these 147,000 mail-in ballots… Were there counterfeit ballots? Six affidavits now, we had four now there’s six, six affidavits of veteran election officials are alleging that up to 30,000 of these 147,000 ballots are fake! Somebody printed them up on a machine and ran them through a vote-counting machine that are not real that are not attached to anybody”

    Sounds legit to me….. 🙄

  4. Can we please stop pretending this is anything other than funding a terrorist organization, and that they are well aware of what they are doing? Dems are complicit.

“Biden Admin Can’t Guarantee Taxpayer Aid Won’t Enrich Hamas”

“As the Biden administration allocates more than $100 million in U.S. taxpayer aid to the Palestinian government and aid groups, critics are raising concerns that the State Department cannot ensure this aid won’t reach the Iranian-backed terror group Hamas.

State Department officials have thus far declined to outline what mechanisms, if any, it has put in place to stop a tranche of aid money from reaching Hamas, which controls the Gaza Strip and is responsible for initiating a deadly conflict with Israel this month. The State Department admitted this week that it could not guarantee the tranche of money will be kept from Hamas.

“As we’ve seen in life, as we all know in life, there are no guarantees,” a senior department official said.

U.S. aid money has reached Hamas and Palestinian terrorists in the past, prompting the Trump administration to stop sending aid in 2018. One of Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s first moves after taking office was to resume the aid without preconditions. That appears to be the case again as the administration commits millions more to the Gaza Strip and United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), which allows Hamas to use its facilities. Multiple Republican foreign policy leaders and a top former Trump administration official described the moves as reckless. They said the State Department’s first priority should be putting stringent barriers in place to ensure no aid money gets to Hamas and its affiliated militant groups.

“The Biden Administration has a fundamental obligation to do whatever it can to prevent American taxpayer dollars from winding up in the bank accounts of terrorists. It is in no way acceptable for the State Department to flippantly offer that this is all a matter of fate well beyond their control,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R. Calif.), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told the Washington Free Beacon.

Issa also called out the administration for declining to provide further explanation about its “no guarantees” remark.

“This reinforces the imperative of Congress’ core oversight function, and I hope that the White House provides quick clarification and commits to redoubling all its efforts to ensure that American aid is never handed over to those who would use it to take other people’s lives,” Issa said.”

  5. Yep.

  6. Once again, the pro-death party tries to backdoor taxpayers into funding abortions.

“Biden Budget Proposes to Force Taxpayers to Pay for Abortions”

“President Joe Biden released his Fiscal Year 2022 budget Friday, one that would eliminate the longstanding Hyde Amendment and force American taxpayers to fund abortions.

The Hyde Amendment has enjoyed tremendous bipartisan support for decades, including from Biden himself.

In April 1994, then-Sen. Biden wrote to a constituent, “Those of us who are opposed to abortion should not be compelled to pay for them.”

A Knights of Columbus/Marist Poll released in January found 58 percent of those surveyed oppose taxpayer funding of abortion, including 31 percent of Democrats, 83 percent of Republicans, and 65 percent of independents.

The poll also found more than three-fourths of Americans (76 percent) back significant restrictions on abortion, including a majority who identify as “pro-choice.”

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) proclaimed, “GREAT news,” on Twitter when it was apparent the White House did not include the Hyde Amendment in its proposed budget:”

“The Tragic, Disturbing Case of Ronald Greene’s Death”

“Who needs Black Lives Matter when you’ve got F Troop?

No, this is no ’60s comedy. This is deadly, deadly serious stuff, I’m afraid. The machinations of a Marxist revolutionary movement will not be necessary to frame the nation’s police as the pointy end of America’s systemically racist spear if you’ve got a cabal of police playing to monstrous type. And we do: Troop F of the Louisiana state police.

Brace yourself: Troop F’s abominations more than rival those of the four former Minneapolis police officers fired over their actions leading to the death of George Floyd last year. What is a slander against the overwhelming majority of cops — namely, that they are on the hunt against young black men — appears fitting as applied to these miscreants-with-badges. They are about to join Derek Chauvin in the gallery of infamous household names. Names that will make the already dangerous job of every good police officer in the country markedly tougher.

    Ronald Greene’s Death

Two years ago, on May 10, 2019, Ronald Greene died in the custody of Louisiana state police. Greene, a 49-year-old black man, lived in Monroe, La., and worked as a barber. In remission after a two-year struggle with cancer, he was driving south meet his wife in Florida, according to family members. State troopers claim that Greene was pursued because he failed to stop as directed after a traffic violation of some kind. There are indications that he was intoxicated, but as we shall see, no information from the state can be taken at face value in this sordid story.

It was shortly after midnight when the dangerous high-speed chase began. When state police from Troop F finally got Greene pulled over on the side of a road, he appears to have instantly attempted to surrender, raising his hands and repeatedly stating, “Okay, okay, I’m sorry.” Police nevertheless savagely tased, beat, pepper-sprayed, and manhandled him, including restraining him in a prone position.

As we covered extensively in the George Floyd case, prone restraint of a detainee is disfavored for unduly long spans of time because it makes breathing difficult. In this instance, it was all the more perilous because Greene, besides being grievously injured and possibly intoxicated, was overweight and recovering from a serious illness.

Greene died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital. The troopers involved appear to have hidden evidence and caused reports to be falsified in order to conceal what they did. This obviously delayed investigations into Greene’s death. It took state police some 474 days to begin an administrative inquiry. State and federal prosecutors are now on the case — respectively, the district attorney of Union Parish and the Justice Department (the U.S. attorney’s office in New Orleans, together with Main Justice’s Civil Rights Division). The Greene family has also filed a federal wrongful-death lawsuit against the police, similar to the one filed by George Floyd’s family (for which, you may recall, Minneapolis paid a $27 million settlement this spring).

Greene’s death seems to be part of a pattern, implicating white members of Troop F in the abuse of several black men — atrocious behavior troopers bragged and joked about among themselves in text messages and audio recordings.

The case was suddenly thrust into the spotlight last week, just as the nation prepared to mark a year since George Floyd’s killing, because the Associated Press “obtained” and published snippets of video footage from the shocking arrest, which comes from one of the involved trooper’s body camera. State authorities had refused for two years to make any video from the incident public, although they showed at least some of it to members of Greene’s family. Since the AP’s revelations, the state has now disclosed what is claimed to be all of the relevant video footage.

In addition, CNN has reported on the autopsy report, which the network acquired through an unidentified person it describes as “a source with knowledge of the investigation.” Earlier this week, the AP followed up with a report indicating that the commander on the scene lied to investigators about what happened and, for two years, concealed his own body-camera recording from the scene.

In combination, these and other media reports paint a gruesome picture.

‘I Beat the F**k Out of Him’”

There’s a big difference between this and Floyd. Number 1, he surrendered, and 2, these officers had clearly malicious intent for this suspect, something not seen in the Floyd arrest. These officers intended to harm. For that alone prosecution is due.

“Teacher Who Said Boys Can’t Be Girls Put On Administrative Leave”

“A Virginia elementary school gym teacher who told the school board he would not “affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa” has since been placed on administrative leave.

During the Tuesday Loudoun County school board meeting, Byron “Tanner” Cross said he could not, in accordance with his religious beliefs, tell students who are biological boys that they are girls.

“My name is Tanner Cross and I am speaking out of love for those who suffer with gender dysphoria,” Cross said.

“’60 Minutes’ this past Sunday interviewed over 30 young people who transitioned but they felt led astray because lack of pushback or how easy it was to make physical changes to their bodies in just three months,” Cross said. “They are now detransitioning.”

“It’s not my intention to hurt anyone, but there are certain truths that we must face when ready. We condemn school policies [that] would damage children, defile the holy image of God.”

“I love all of my students but I will never lie to them regardless of the consequences. I’m a teacher but I serve God first and I will not affirm that a biological boy can be a girl and vice versa because it’s against my religion. It’s lying to a child, it’s abuse to a child, and it’s sinning against our God.”

Cross has since been placed on administrative leave, Loudoun County Public Schools information officer Wayde B. Byard said in a statement to the Daily Caller.”

A recent 60 Minutes segment talked about red states denying hormones and surgery to transgender youth. However, the news program made the grave mistake of including a part about young people who regret transitioning.

The left is furious that 60 Minutes included dissenting voices.

    The Daily Wire has details:

60 Minutes Runs Explosive Segment Featuring Young Transgender Individuals Who Decided To Reverse Course

On Sunday, CBS News’ “60 Minutes” ran a segment about transgender issues facing today’s young people in America, which featured, in part, transgender individuals who decided to reverse course after taking hormones and undergoing surgery.

The segment featured how transgender activists have pushed back on legislation across the U.S. that aims to protect children from undergoing potentially life-altering medical procedures before they are old enough to understand the ramifications of their decisions. One of the transgender advocates said the fact that so many transgender individuals had decided to de-transition was proof that more resources were needed for trans individuals, not fewer.”

“The Arizona Senate is mulling an expansion of the 2020 election audit taking place in Maricopa County.

Senators are considering hiring a California-based nonprofit to analyze ballot images to create a third set of numbers to compare with the tabulation from Dominion Voting Systems machines and the hand recount being done by Cyber Ninjas, a Florida-based firm in charge of the current audit.

If the plan is finalized, the Senate would pay $5,000. The rest of the money would be obtained through a grant or through private funding.”

  18. https://www.theepochtimes.com/117-healthcare-workers-file-lawsuit-against-hospital-for-requiring-covid-19-vaccine_3836644.html

“More than 100 employees at Houston Methodist Hospital filed a lawsuit against their employer for requiring all staff members to receive a COVID-19 vaccine in order to keep their jobs.

Saying the COVID-19 vaccines are experimental and they don’t want to be “guinea pigs,” the 117 employees argued in court that it’s unlawful for their employers to require them to take the shots.

“Methodist Hospital is forcing its employees to be human ‘guinea pigs’ as a condition for continued employment,” their lawsuit (pdf) states. They wrote that the hospital’s COVID-19 vaccination mandate “requires the employee to subject themselves to medical experimentation as a prerequisite to feeding their families.”

They took issue receiving “experimental COVID-19 mRNA” vaccines such as ones made by Pfizer and Moderna.

“For the first time in the history of the United States, an employer is forcing an employee to participate in an experimental vaccine trial as a condition for continued employment,” the lawsuit states.

The plaintiffs cited a letter—included in the lawsuit—from the CEO and president of Houston Methodist, Marc Boom, who allegedly directed employees to “please see the HR policy that outlines the consequences of not being compliant by June 7, which include suspension and eventually termination.””
