Prayer Requests 12-21-20

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 119:161-176

ש Sin and Shin

161 Rulers persecute me without cause,
but my heart trembles at your word.
162 I rejoice in your promise
like one who finds great spoil.
163 I hate and detest falsehood
    but I love your law.
164 Seven times a day I praise you
    for your righteous laws.
165 Great peace have those who love your law,
and nothing can make them stumble.
166 I wait for your salvation, Lord,
    and I follow your commands.
167 I obey your statutes,
    for I love them greatly.
168 I obey your precepts and your statutes,
for all my ways are known to you.

ת Taw

169 May my cry come before you, Lord;
give me understanding according to your word.
170 May my supplication come before you;
deliver me according to your promise.
171 May my lips overflow with praise,
for you teach me your decrees.
172 May my tongue sing of your word,
for all your commands are righteous.
173 May your hand be ready to help me,
for I have chosen your precepts.
174 I long for your salvation, Lord,
and your law gives me delight.
175 Let me live that I may praise you,
and may your laws sustain me.
176 I have strayed like a lost sheep.
    Seek your servant,
for I have not forgotten your commands.

  1. I need the strength to face today and handle
The problems I need to handle.
I need wisdom to know what to do about them.
I need serenity to not let it all get to me

I just flat out need prayer.

  2. Heavenly Father, I pray You will ease the way forward for Kim. You know what must be done and the personalities involved. I pray You will be a buffer for Kim so she does not have to sink into dread. May You be her strength in any storm that threatens. Please calm the storm. Keep her from sinking in turbulent waters as only You can. She is helpless without You. I ask that Your will be done as You know best. Thank You for Kim and the way You work through her in the good times and bad. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

  3. In the next 8 days after this, I am supposed to work 6 of them, and four are supposed to be 12 hour shifts. The other two are 8 hour and I am pretty certain they will try to get me to do home visits on those 2 days. My lungs are still inflamed. Normally, going to work actually helps when I have irritated lungs, because there are less irritants in the clinic than at home, but with my lungs in the state they are now, going on home visits will make it worse. If I cannot breathe clearly, I will not have the energy to make it through such a gruelling work schedule (this is not my normal schedule, as I would normally work fewer shifts).

  4. I have prayer requests for close family members:

My brother, who lives nearby, is rapidly disintegrating. He’s flirted with the edges of addiction for years, but it has accelerated this year. If I don’t manage to get him to go to rehab soon it will be too late.

I’m also concerned about Dad. He still lives with us and is strong, but this situation with brother is hitting him very hard and there is bound to be conflict before it gets resolved. He is not physically up to the emotional conflict, though he has been surprisingly resilient up to this point. He is a strong believer.

My oldest son in Florida says covid cases are up drastically again at the nursing home where he works. They are getting overflow from the hospitals. Tempers are flaring among staff and stress is very high. They had stabilized for several months, but now deaths are going up at his facility. He has to work the covid ward most of the time because he’s already had it. Supplies and staff have been very limited in the covid ward, and that makes basic care much more challenging. Isolation in that ward is a problem also since few people will work it.

My middle son in Nevada is under a lot of pressure right now with very little work. Their youngest daughter, Abby, has severe cerebral palsy (she was the surviving twin we prayed for here several years ago). She had surgery in November to put in a feeding tube, dental surgery this month, and is due for more surgery in a couple of months. Prayers for her and the whole family.

In all of these things, I have to say that God has been so gracious and merciful to us. I’m reminded of a portion of the hymn:
“…..thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine and ten thousand beside.

Great is thy faithfulness, great is thy faithfulness,
morning by morning, new mercies I see.
All I have needed thy hand hath provided,
Great is thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me. “

  5. Lots to pray for and lots to praise for. I will add some:

praise that we have grandchildren to care for
prayer because we have grandchildren to care for
Looks like the children are becoming weapons as mommy does not want her brother or his girlfriend touching the children while here after Christmas but their dad, who will be here with them for Christmas, wants them to be able to play with the children. Two weeks ago, girlfriend was her best confidante as we see a typical high school girl scenario play out. Both are quite a while out of high school and should know better.
