  1. The second wave hits Europe.

“European Coronavirus Second Wave: Merkel Tells People to ‘Stay Home’ as German President Goes in Quarantine

“Belgian and Austrian foreign ministers test positive for coronavirus after EU summit.”

“German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged people to stay home as Germany faces a second wave of coronavirus outbreak. The country now faces a resurgence of the Chinese virus with a record rise in new cases since the pandemic hit Europe.

“I ask you to refrain from any trip that is not really necessary, any celebration that is not really necessary. Please stay at home — wherever you are, whenever possible,” Merkel said in an address to the nation on Saturday. Germany was in a “very serious phase” of the outbreak with “the number of new infections is increasing by leaps and bounds every day,” she warned.

“Germany has reported 7,334 new coronavirus cases in its daily update, the most it has recorded since the virus first emerged in the country,” Germany’s state-run DW News reported on Saturday. German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier went into quarantine on Saturday after one of his staff members tested positive, a government spokesperson confirmed.

“We are currently seeing a widespread increase in infections, and we have experienced an extreme rise in large cities like Berlin and Bremen,” Helge Braun, the head of Merkel’s Chancellery told magazine Der Spiegel.

Germany’s DW News reported Chancellor Merkel’s alarming remarks:

German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday urged residents to stay at home amid a dramatic increase in the number of coronavirus infections in Germany.

“We have to do everything we can now to ensure that the virus does not spread uncontrollably — every day counts,” Merkel said in her
    weekly podcast.

“I ask you to refrain from any trip that is not really necessary, any celebration that is not really necessary. Please stay at home — wherever you are, whenever possible,” she said.

Merkel said that Germany was currently in the midst of a “very serious phase” of the pandemic, adding that “the number of new infections is increasing by leaps and bounds every day.”

“The comparatively relaxed summer is over; now we are facing difficult months. How winter will be, how our Christmas will be, will be decided in the coming days and weeks. We all decide that through our actions.” (…)

On Saturday, the Robert Koch Institute for disease control said Germany recorded 7,830 new coronavirus infections in the past 24-hour period, a new record since the pandemic began.

The number of cases was nearly 500 higher than on Friday and more than 1,500 higher than the prior infection peak recorded in March.

The second wave of the Chinese contagion hit the European Union leadership as well. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, a long-time Merkel loyalist, entered quarantine on Thursday after one of her staffers tested positive for the virus. Foreign ministers from two European states, Belgium and Austria, contracted the virus during a EU summit in Luxembourg this week, local media reported on Saturday. The meeting was attended by EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell and by foreign ministers and top envoys from 26 European member states.

The Wuhan virus is not only resurfacing in Germany, neighboring France too reported record figures. French “health ministry reported more than 32,000 new confirmed cases of Covid-19, the highest single-day tally since the start of the pandemic,” TV channel France24 reported Saturday. Nine of the biggest French cities, including Paris, face night-time curfew amid rising numbers. Other European countries, including the United Kingdom are reporting a similar trend.”

  2. Families who lost loved ones due to Cuomo’s incompetence aren’t letting it go unnoticed.

“A silver casket was wheeled to the front of a Brooklyn nursing home Sunday — and 6,500 copies of the cover of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s new book were dumped into it in protest of his COVID-19 policies.

The number of covers was equal to the roughly 6,500 people who have been reported killed by the coronavirus in nursing homes in the state — although the ralliers said they believe the figure is much higher.

“My mother-in-law got COVID in an elder-care facility but died in a hospital, [so] her number does not count’’ in New York’s nursing-home tally, said Janice Dean, a meteorologist for TV’s “Fox & Friends’’ who was among the roughly 50 protesters outside the Cobble Hill Health Center.

“At the very beginning, I wouldn’t have blamed anyone,’’ she said of her kin’s death. “We were in the middle of a pandemic.

“But then I saw the governor on CNN and the various talk shows talking about his love life and talking about how he brought the curve down to nothing.”

The first thing he should have said was, “I’m sorry for your loss,’’ Dean said.

Protesters have mainly ripped Cuomo’s March 25 mandate that prevented nursing homes, with their vulnerable populations, from turning away coronavirus-positive patients.

Cuomo acknowledged at a COVID-19 press briefing earlier Sunday that in hindsight, his administration could have done better to protect people when asked about nursing homes.”

    Thank you Capt. Obvious.

  3. Reporter does job, Biden loses it. 🙂

“Joe Biden is not accustomed to receiving anything but softball questions from reporters on the campaign trail, or anywhere, really. As he was about to board a private jet after a campaign stop in Michigan Friday night, a CBS reporter asked about his son’s business dealings and Biden lost his temper.

Bo Erickson, a 2020 campaign reporter covering Joe Biden’s campaign for CBS, dared to do what no other reporter has done. He asked Biden about a story that is dominating the news – N.Y. Post’s story about his son Hunter’s business dealings. Biden snapped at Erickson in response. He calls the story a “smear campaign”, which is a standard political response from a candidate but he also made it a personal attack on Erickson. Biden said he expected that kind of question from him. “Those are the questions you always ask.”

“The personal attack on a CBS reporter is how Biden normally treats FNC’s reporter Peter Doocy. Biden regularly snarls at Doocy’s questions. Status Quo Joe just doesn’t like to be held accountable for his actions, especially if the story brings in a member of his family. His son Hunter’s allegedly corrupt business practices of making big money off of his father’s name and career are the focus of an October surprise story. This story, if it proves to be true, is particularly damning because it involves Hunter Biden’s dealings with Ukraine. We all remember that Ukraine figured into the impeachment circus conducted by House Democrats earlier this year.

The Biden 2020 presidential campaign previously responded to the Post story on Wednesday, saying the former vice president “carried out official U.S. policy toward Ukraine and engaged in no wrongdoing,” and that “Trump administration officials have attested to these facts under oath.”

The Post obtained a 2015 email indicating that Vadym Pozharskyi, an adviser to the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, thanked Hunter Biden for “giving an opportunity” to meet his father, who was then serving as vice president under Barack Obama.

The question to Biden was a legitimate one and a necessary one. If Biden’s son is selling access to his father, American voters have a right to know. Hunter’s involvement in Ukraine (and China) began during his father’s time in the White House and he traveled on Air Force Two with his father to both countries.”

  4. The media and Big Tech continue to run interference for Joe.

“Twitter refuses to unlock New York Post account unless Hunter Biden posts deleted”

“Twitter has refused to unlock the New York Post’s account since Wednesday unless the outlet deletes six tweets about its reporting on 2020 Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, the Post reported.

Both the San Francisco-based social media platform and Facebook came under fire this week after the two blocked users from sharing a Post article showing purported communication between 2020 Democratic nominee Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and an adviser to a Ukrainian energy company.

The younger Biden’s work in the country while his father was vice president was at the heart of President Trump’s impeachment trial earlier this year. House Democrats accused Trump of improperly attempting to condition U.S. aid on an investigation into Biden, then a contender in the party’s presidential primaries, by the Ukrainian government.”

“The Media Can’t Get Their Story Straight on Hunter Biden, and They Think You’re Stupid”

“The media think you are stupid. That’s probably not a revelation, but it’s being made especially apparent over the last few days following the bombshell release of Hunter Biden’s emails.

Things have progressed quickly since the New York Post dropped its first report showing that Hunter Biden had used his influence to set up a meeting between his father and a Burisma associate. That company was, of course, paying Hunter $50,000+ a month to peddle influence, as has been confirmed by language in the aforementioned emails.

But the matter got far more serious for Joe Biden last night when another email was confirmed real by a participant in the chain. That email showed that the elder Biden was allegedly getting a cut of Hunter’s payoffs from these foreign companies. While the initial corruption was disqualifying enough, this takes it to another level.

Unfortunately, instead of taking this story seriously, our stalwart journalistic institutions are doing their best to bury the story. The problem is that they can’t get their story straight.

First, it was “Russian disinformation,” because that’s the go to, knee jerk reaction to any negative story about a Democrat.”

  6. Despite the media’s water carrying, Biden is “losing” ground.

“Memo From Biden Campaign Manager: Our Polling Shows Trump Is Neck And Neck With Us In The Battlegrounds”

“She’s been beating this drum all week, first in a series of tweets on Wednesday, then again in a video chat with supporters yesterday. Democrats aren’t worried about a late Trump surge nearly as much as they’re worried about creeping complacency among their own voters.”

Note she admits the polls are bogus.

  7. The GOP wants answers, but again, the FBI isn’t giving any.

    Fire Wray already!

“GOP Senator Presses FBI Director Over Handling Of Alleged Hunter Biden Laptop”

“The chairman of a Senate committee pressed FBI Director Christopher Wray for details of the bureau’s handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop.

-Sen. Ron Johnson asked Wray whether the FBI has investigated both the contents of Biden’s laptop and the claims made by a Delaware computer shop owner who claims he turned the device over to investigators last year.

-Johnson’s committee met with the shop owner earlier this month.

-The Republican said the FBI has declined to inform the committee whether there are any inconsistencies in the shop owner’s story or if any foreign governments are involved in the Biden email saga.

-Sen. Ron Johnson said in a letter on Saturday that the FBI has declined to provide insight into its handling of a laptop purportedly belonging to Hunter Biden.

Investigators on the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee, which Johnson chairs, have met with a computer shop owner who says he obtained the laptop last year.

In a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray, Johnson asked whether the owner, John Paul Mac Isaac, provided accurate information about his handling of the computer and his interactions with the FBI.

The Wisconsin Republican is also asking whether the FBI has investigated the contents of the purported Biden laptop and whether investigators have found evidence of any criminal wrongdoing.

“The committee must know whether the FBI has assessed the validity of materials the whistleblower has provided, and what, if any, actions the FBI has taken since obtaining this information,” Johnson wrote.”

  9. Record numbers.

“Alabama breaks absentee voting record 3 weeks before Election Day”

“Alabama has broken its record for casting absentee ballots during an election, and three weeks remain before Election Day.

Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill (R) said that as of Tuesday, 91,786 absentee ballots had been cast ahead of the Nov. 3 election. The previous record was 89,000 ballots cast over the course of the 2012 election cycle.

Merrill told the Hoover Area Chamber of Commerce that he expects to have more than 200,000 ballots requested by election day, according to 280 Living, likely because of the COVID-19 pandemic.”

  10. It’s Cali., so vote early, often, and for your dead relatives.

No potential for fraud here….. move along.

“Close To Half A Million Ballots Sent To California Voters Who Have Moved Or Died”

“Why do you suppose California Republicans are setting up their own ballot drop boxes at churches and gun shops to offer voters a safe way to ensure their votes make it to election officials for counting? Do you suppose they have some concerns about how well the mass mail-in voting system will perform when it’s put to the full test on November 3rd? Perish the thought. I’m sure everything will be fine. Well… nearly everything. But we might not be entirely confident about the eventual fate of roughly 400,000 ballots that went out this month. That’s because their voter rolls don’t appear to have been tended very well over the years and that huge slug of ballots went to people who had either moved out of the state or taken up residence in cemeteries. (CBS Los Angeles)

Millions of California ballots have been delivered to residents across the state as early voting begins for the 2020 general election, but some have gone to people who should no longer be registered to vote in the state.

A new study from the Election Integrity Project California has found that close to 400,000 ballots have been sent to people who moved or died.

“The fear is that people who are dishonest could vote those ballots and attempt to get them counted,” said Evelyn Swenson, who works with the organization. “What kind of confidence to the people of California have in the system when they’re getting ballots from their deceased loved one 10 years ago or someone who never lived there or someone who moved 10 years ago? That hurts the confidence in the election.”

If only someone had warned them about this. Oh, wait… that’s right. We’ve been shouting this from the rooftops for most of the year. States like Washington, where they do full mail-in voting every year have the system in fairly good shape, but it took them years to get there. They had to clean up their voter rolls entirely and then develop better ways to track when people are born, when they die, and if they move. California hasn’t had nearly enough time to seriously take on that challenge. As a result, ballots are showing up in all sorts of incorrect locations.

The local CBS station interviewed a number of residents and business owners who received ballots in the mail that didn’t belong there. Margaret Richards of Sherman Oaks was sent a ballot. The problem is that Ms. Richards has been living in Tennessee for the past sixteen years. One Monrovia resident received a ballot for the person who sold her the house she now owns fifteen years ago. The previous owners now live in Texas. In theory, any time a ballot is sent back to the post office marked as undeliverable because the resident no longer lives there, the voter’s registration record is supposed to be deactivated. But the woman in question claims to have done that every time she received any election material but they’re still coming. And what about all of the people who moved within the state but haven’t updated their registration yet? Will they be provided a way to vote?

But hey… nothing serious could go wrong with this, right? “

  11. Now that’s strange. I’ve not seen the media mention this. Can’t have any more strays heading off the plantation I guess.

“2020: Year of the Black GOP Renaissance, Thanks to Trump”

“Twenty-seven Black Republican candidates are running for Congress this election, and that is a good thing for the Republican Party, our political system, and our entire country.

In 2016, when Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel headed the Michigan GOP, all the political pundits and pollsters wrote off the state as fly-over country and certainly did not think a Republican could do well there. And yet Donald J. Trump beat Hillary Clinton and won that diverse state. The investments and effective campaigning laid the foundation for 2020.

The RNC, in addition to running print ads in Black newspapers and hosting GOTV events from our Black Voices for Trump Community Centers, just launched a new seven-figure voter-contact initiative to directly target and engage with Black voters in urban communities all over the country, safely knocking on doors to get out the vote for President Trump.

Today in Michigan, veteran businessman and rising GOP star John James is running to be the next U.S. senator from that state. After serving in the military for eight years and earning a Combat Action Badge and two Air Medals, James went on to become president of James Group International, growing the family business into a major trading partner in the Michigan auto industry. He knows what it takes to achieve the great American comeback for his state. John James and President Trump are two leaders made in the USA for this moment.

While James hopes to join South Carolina’s Tim Scott (pictured above) in the Senate, 26 Black Americans are running as Republican nominees to make history in the House of Representatives. Can you imagine how courageous you have to be to run in 2020 as a Black Republican, with all of the vitriol and cancel culture attempts from the radical liberal left?

Whether it is Joe Biden saying “You ain’t black,” or MSNBC calling Black Republican candidates Burgess Owens and Kimberly Klacik part of a “modern day minstrel show,” these men and women are leaders who care, and who are inspired by another leader – a man who took the opposition head on, ignored pundits and pollsters who doubted him, and won. That leader is President Trump.

Hopefully, the mainstream media will report on these candidates as fairly and respectfully as they did the candidates who became known as “The Squad,” making them household names as well.

Why not tell a different narrative, show there are Black Americans who think for themselves, care about their communities and are proud Republicans? ”

Why? See above. They can’t afford a mass exodus.

  12. Narrative fail again for the Shifty One.

DNI Ratcliffe: Hunter Biden’s Laptop ‘Not Part of Some Russian Disinformation Campaign’

“In this case, Adam Schiff saying this is part of a disinformation campaign and that the intelligence community has assessed and believes that — that is simply not true. Whether its Republicans or Democrats, if they try to leverage the intelligence community for political gain, I won’t allow it.”

    “From Fox News:

Ratcliffe, during an exclusive interview on FOX Business’ “Mornings with Maria,” was asked about the allegations from Schiff, D-Calif., who over the weekend said that the Hunter Biden emails suggesting Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden had knowledge of, and was allegedly involved in, his son’s foreign business dealings.

“It’s funny that some of the people who complain the most about intelligence being politicized are the ones politicizing the intelligence,” Ratcliffe said. “Unfortunately, it is Adam Schiff who said the intelligence community believes the Hunter Biden laptop and emails on it are part of a Russian disinformation campaign.”

He added: “Let me be clear: the intelligence community doesn’t believe that because there is no intelligence that supports that. And we have shared no intelligence with Adam Schiff, or any member of Congress.”

Ratcliffe went on to say that it is “simply not true.”

“Hunter Biden’s laptop is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign,” Ratcliffe said, adding again that “this is not part of some Russian disinformation campaign.”

  13. So the media will have to work overtime on spreading lies for his campaign.

Several blue check media members have now deleted their Tweets. 🙂

2020 Now Represents a Turning Point, Toward Parts Unknown

Such inflection points tend not to be kind to the presidents and parties in power, but results of today’s tumult are hard to forecast

Americans define turning points in their national life by the year in which they arrived. In 1861, Abraham Lincoln took office as president and the Civil War began. In 1932, the Great Depression approached its peak and Franklin Roosevelt was elected to usher in a new era of Democratic dominance.

And in 1979, an energy crisis and stagflation froze the economy, Iranian students seized the American embassy in Tehran and the Soviets invaded Afghanistan, creating an air of national despair that paved the way for Ronald Reagan’s conservative revolution.

These inflection points tend to occur not when one shocking event arrives, but when such events pile up, one on top of the other. By that standard, 2020 increasingly appears to be just such a moment.

It’s impossible when living through this moment to know exactly what the consequences will be, political or otherwise. In general, history shows, such inflection points tend not to be kind to the presidents and parties in power, as Americans turn away in search of something new.

And indeed, a new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll taken after last week’s presidential debate showed President Trump falling 14 percentage points behind Democrat Joe Biden, apparently in part because of the way the president behaved on stage. Yet that poll was taken before the arrival of the next shock to the system, the disclosure that Mr. Trump has contracted the coronavirus, a turn with unknown and unpredictable political consequences. …

… Yet the impact of 2020 on the American psyche and the rhythms of life can’t be measured simply by electoral outcomes. The sheer size of the shocks felt so far this year—impeachment trial, coronavirus pandemic, economic plunge, renewed racial reckoning and the emergence of angry divisions amid what might otherwise have been unifying national traumas—ensure that patterns of American life won’t be the same again. …

… Because of the pandemic, the basic lifeblood of the American economy for the last century, retail commerce, has been transformed, moved more decisively out of stores and into cyberspace. Some jobs lost along the way may never come back, though just as surely many more will be created. Meantime, the way Americans do their work, now remotely and outside traditional office settings, may never be entirely the same. …

… Regardless of the outcome of next month’s election, politics and civic life are changing before our eyes. The way Americans perform the most basic of civic tasks, casting a vote, is likely to be altered permanently. The unifying scenes of Americans gathering at the local library on Election Day may increasingly become a kind of Norman Rockwell painting, a quaint reminder of calmer days gone by.

The national debate has been coarsened further amid it all. …

… As a result of this year’s shocks, at least some Americans are prepared to consider changes in fundamental American elements of civic life, including the Electoral College, the Supreme Court and police departments across the country. These are institutions that were largely accepted as they were before 2020, yet could emerge from the year’s tumult in new form. …

… Any one of these shocks would be noteworthy if standing alone. Taken together, they leave some Americans angry, some unsettled, some simply weary.

Humility requires admitting that no one knows the precise consequences, except for this: Those politicians who win election this year will be asked to handle a national agenda that was unimaginable at the start of the fateful year of 2020.

  17. I don’t know if it’s because of the angle or what, but it looked like the usher only took Trump’s offering and then took off down the aisle. I didn’t see anyone else giving offerings.

And what was up with someone filming him, obviously from in front of the church, and zooming in on his money?

  18. Haven’t commented lately due to work and quite frankly trying to avoid US politics….far too toxic lately.

    However, i thought some of you would find this interesting;

For all the shenanigans the past few weeks, polling has been fairly stable in the so called battle ground states. If anything, its leaning more to Biden but not by much. Complacency is always a Democratic party worry, hence statements casting doubt on polls just to motivate voters but the record early voting bodes well for the Democrats.

As for Hunter Biden….it won’t change anyone’s mind. Trump has a habit of accusing other of something he or his family are doing. This applies here too….his own children have gained monetarily more than Hunter.

There’s far less undecided voters now than four years at this time. In many places, Biden may be only 4-6% ahead but there’s only 3-4% undecided and Bidens polling over 50. Any attempt to turn Hunter into the emails of 2020.probably won’t work. The stability in polls is quite impressive.
