Prayer Requests 8-24-20

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 22:1-11

A psalm of David.

My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?
    Why are you so far from saving me,
    so far from my cries of anguish?
My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer,
    by night, but I find no rest.

Yet you are enthroned as the Holy One;
    you are the one Israel praises.
In you our ancestors put their trust;
    they trusted and you delivered them.
To you they cried out and were saved;
    in you they trusted and were not put to shame.

But I am a worm and not a man,
    scorned by everyone, despised by the people.
All who see me mock me;
    they hurl insults, shaking their heads.
“He trusts in the Lord,” they say,
    “let the Lord rescue him.
   Let him deliver him,
    since he delights in him.”

Yet you brought me out of the womb;
    you made me trust in you, even at my mother’s breast.
10 From birth I was cast on you;
    from my mother’s womb you have been my God.

11 Do not be far from me,
    for trouble is near
    and there is no one to help.

  1. I’m dazed, amazed, disappointed, laughing, intrigued, and energized after a 2-hour conversation with a relative I’ve never spoken with for so long.

    An excellent conversation, but a heartbreak. As a teenager, she attended a Bible study in Rick Warren’s garage. When, much later, she attended Saddleback, she felt shunned by beautiful church ladies in $1300 dresses.

    Until Rick Warren saw her, came up and talked with her by name, “What’s wrong Stacey?” She couldn’t explain that she didn’t feel welcome and walked away.

    She’s been out in the wilderness for a long time–and based on the book she’s just written, which we were discussing–she’ll remain there for a bit of time.

    Join me, won’t you, in praying that He who began a good work in her many years ago, will see it come to fruition in her life. She’s on my prayer radar now, our conversation was rich, and I’d love to be able to see her returned to her first love.

    (And she reports her father, to the shock of all, has decided he’s a Christian. Very curious how many in my extended family are behaving these days. I said, “Amen.” and she laughed with an echo.)

    🙂

  2. And for the situation there at Liberty and the family. HOW do people think they can get away with such behavior? OBVIOUSLY, they do not believe God sees them.

    God will not be mocked!

    But it’s all the people watching who now have yet another excuse to harden their hearts against the only God who can save them.

    The cousin I just got off the phone from talking with, herself, talked about how horrifying it is to see people dragging Jesus’ good name through the mud. “And they call themselves Christians.” We were both shaking our heads, albeit we couldn’t see each other. 😦
