  1. It doesn’t make sense at all.
Why are the people in Portland and other places destroying their cities?
    They are protesting.
Protesting what? What does what they’re doing affect anything else? It is beyond evil.
It is completely stupid. It doesn’t have anything to do with anything else.

  2. 😦 Politicians who blatantly lie ruining reputations. When accusations have been disproved and you still repeat it, it is just plain evil. Something God hates. Ambition can be a horrible slave master.

  3. 🙂 The targeted publisher is “very interested” in the biography.

🙂 My agent wanted the proposal ASAP to send in. I finished last night and mailed it away.

🙂 My Beta readers should have the manuscript they’ve been reading back to me over the weekend. I’ll then make the needed changes, alterations, corrections.

🙂 Next Friday, I’ll mail it to the publications manager at the ministry for a final read–to make sure I’ve not written anything that could compromise missionaries currently in the field. Unlikely, but we want to be sure.

🙂 I have been immeasurably blessed by this project and I hope the same will be true of those who read it.

    🙂 Thanks be to God.

  4. 😦 Confusing directions or inadequate information from the powers that be for those in perilous situations during a fire.

🙂 🙂 Incredibly hard-working firefighters and first responders.

🙂 The Lord answers prayers–heat index has dropped 15 degrees since Monday, though it is still warm.

😦 The refusal of those who shake their fist at God, rather than turn questions about who is really in charge to examine the state their own souls.

  5. Chas: Why are the nations in an uproar and the peoples devising a vain thing? Psalm 2

People have been doing that sort of thing for a long time.

Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.. Genesis 6:5 A very long time.

When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. Gen 3: 6 From the beginning.

  6. 🙂 Chickadee is coming over today (she and Nightingale will be home soon) and we are finally going to watch the Downton Abbey movie. (You may remember that it arrived from Netflix too late for when we had planned to watch it a couple weeks ago.) Nightingale is picking up a party-sized grinder for us to have for both lunch and dinner. I’m “dressed up” for the movie. 🙂

🙂 The Holy Spirit took me into a deeper level of trust one recent night, which came with a relieving sense of peace. He didn’t give me an answer one way or another on what I was praying about, but helped me to truly leave it in His hands.

  7. 🙂 A good, ministerial YouTube msg from our pastor to the “flock” yesterday in these pandemic times. He and the other elders are making sure we’re attending one of our services by one means or another, virtual or in-person or at our sister church (where outdoor services are offered in accordance with our county’s current health order). Difficult times as churches try to minister to the people under their care. We feel “scattered,” no longer coming together, all of us, in person on Sunday mornings. I appreciate their concern and outreach to exhort us all to be “somewhere” on the list of options every Sunday morning — and to let them know where that is via email.

🙂 My knee remains much, much better. What a relief not to be in what’s been (for 3+ months) pretty much constant pain, limping from room to room, through grocery stores …

😦 The massive heatwave that’s sitting on top of our state and the numerous fires. And power outages. Yep, welcome to late summer in California. 😦

🙂 The ability to take cool showers and the presence of workhorse fans through the house. And sometimes, the remnants of our cool ocean breeze at some point in the afternoon, though very short-lived.

😦 The state of the nation and what will likely be an election filled with more unrest, outrage and anger, whatever happens in the end (and that “end” may be a long time coming as results will be likely ripe for challenges). We may have “seen nothing yet,” as the saying goes.

🙂 The call to trust God in all things, from our personal circumstances to those of our nation and the world.

  8. 🙂 A looky-loo drive through the rich, ocean cliff-side neighborhoods, the 2007 Jeep’s A/C roaring (thank you!), helped my mood and physical state.

  9. And a big box of Bounty paper towels on back-order arrived today.

Praying for the fires, read that there are now more than 500 in the state. Stay safe, Michelle …

  10. There are also some just north of LA as well, but not as threatening as in Northern Cal.

And living in a “city” setting, there’s usually too much concrete to require evacuations.

  11. Michelle, my parents never had that gift, and Mom mourned it. My oldest brother was born nine-and-a-half months (to the day) after they married, and the last of us seven was born seventeen years and one month after him. When Dad died, they had been married almost 32 years and still had three minors at home.

There are blessings when extended family lives together, when (for example) single daughters continue to live with their parents for mutual benefit and blessing. And there are blessings to the empty nest.

But transition periods (coming to a new normal after a death, after a move, or after someone moves out) are hard.

😦 So much work to do now prepping and freezing the produce

🙂 Having so much produce in our freezer

🙂 Twin baby boys coming in December! 🙂

😦 My job coming to an end soon with no start up in sight
