Prayer Requests 8-22-20

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 21

For the director of music. A psalm of David.

The king rejoices in your strength, Lord.
    How great is his joy in the victories you give!

You have granted him his heart’s desire
    and have not withheld the request of his lips.
You came to greet him with rich blessings
    and placed a crown of pure gold on his head.
He asked you for life, and you gave it to him—
    length of days, for ever and ever.
Through the victories you gave, his glory is great;
    you have bestowed on him splendor and majesty.
Surely you have granted him unending blessings
    and made him glad with the joy of your presence.
For the king trusts in the Lord;
    through the unfailing love of the Most High
    he will not be shaken.

Your hand will lay hold on all your enemies;
    your right hand will seize your foes.
When you appear for battle,
    you will burn them up as in a blazing furnace.
   The Lord will swallow them up in his wrath,
    and his fire will consume them.
10 You will destroy their descendants from the earth,
    their posterity from mankind.
11 Though they plot evil against you
    and devise wicked schemes, they cannot succeed.
12 You will make them turn their backs
    when you aim at them with drawn bow.

13 Be exalted in your strength, Lord;
    we will sing and praise your might.

  1. Thinking of Mumsee’s current ministry vis a vis the pregnant girl. If you think of my girl who needs to refigure out her life, please add her to the list. Their situations are so different, their options challenging in different ways, but both need wisdom, reassurance, confidence, and trust in their Savior who determines all things for our good.

    Thanks be to God.

  2. Has she considered being a Physicians assistant? On the mission field they work as a full doctor. Friends pursued this and found they could do a program that allowed them to get their rn in the beginning of the program and then be paid during the rest of their training.
    Praying for direction for her.

  3. Praying that the results of this presidential election will be decisive, like maybe a landslide, in favor of one candidate or the other. If the vote is anywhere near close, there is going to be more rancor over election fraud and a “stolen election” and whatnot, especially with all of the controversy over how to vote.

    Then again, that continuing and building rancor may be part of God’s plan for whatever He is doing in America. So, God’s will be done either way.

  4. The way ahead is very foggy, but I can see to take one step at a time. I watched Lucy and Archie yesterday and we couldn’t go outside due to poor air quality. I sang Lucy to sleep with praise choruses. At lunch they were eating and when I got my lunch done and sat down, I briefly thanked God for my food. Something that I don’t usually remember to do at lunch time. Archie looked at me briefly, then lowered his head and said the same prayer. God is good (actually we sang that all day long).

  5. Carol is being moved today to another rehab in Hollywood/LA — this is supposed to be a 2-week stint to see if they can work with her to get her up and back on her feet walking again.

    You may remember that her doctor at her current rehab (where she’s been for 4-6 weeks now) recommended she move to a full-care facility as her medical needs had become somewhat complex, especially with regard to keeping tabs on her vacillating potassium levels. Carol was on board with that.

    But then, the administrator of her current home called and has persuaded her to return there, so I guess this 2-week process will be to get her in better shape to go back there.

    Carol bounces around with these decisions, I still wonder if the full-care option isn’t the best — and I know these places often compete with each other to get and keep folks because that contributes to their financial bottom line, of course, and these are hard times.

    I told Carol she needs to ask some questions, including what will her current place do to ensure that her potassium levels are more frequently watched and monitored? Carol, of course, never asks questions, I told her I’d text her them but I think she gets shy and intimidated when she’s actually talking to these people. So, I’m contemplating getting in touch with Lucy (the admin of her current place she now wants to return to) and going that route.

    It is Carol’s decision in the end, but I don’t think she knows how to even start getting the information she should have before making those decisions.

    So pray for guidance for both her and me (I’ve urged her to share this also with her brother and niece in NJ but so far she has chosen not to do that) and wisdom, of course.

  6. I join in that prayer, Kizzie (12:48). I was thinking last night we may be headed for uncharted and very rough waters in this nation in just a few months. I suspect the election will wind up hotly contested by both sides, whichever way it goes. And we could all be “stuck” in limbo as a result for a very long time, leading potentially to some serious violence and more civil unrest, much worse than what we’ve seen so far.

    But as Kizzie also notes, that, indeed, would also be part of God’s sovereign will at this point in our history, for whatever his purposes all. But it would be difficult and painful to navigate on our human level, for sure.

  7. Please continue prayers for Wesley and my friend, Karen. Wesley took the Urgent Care x-rays to a doctor’s office Thurs. but will hear about an appt. on Monday (so even more time is passing). He starts teaching this next week, too, so things are beginning to collide.

    Karen will have a serious procedure Sunday or Monday. Prayers for her as her heart condition becomes more serious. Thankful that my pastor called and prayed with her.

    Praise that my brother and I had a lovely and peaceful lunch break out on the front porch. He had the choice of spaghetti or bean lomein. I had cooked lomein before when he ate here. He chose bean lomein again. So thankful to God that He brings peace to difficult relationships. I sent my brother home with some of the lomein.

  8. Carol called while I was on the road for my cool-down drive a while ago, she got moved and wanted to know when I would come visit. I told her I didn’t think visitors were allowed still in those facilities, but she thinks they are. I told her we’d talk about it later.

  9. My friend Jenn, the lady with the serious health issues, is facing another health challenge. Back in January (I think) she had another major surgery (which resulted in her being in ICU with sepsis for a month) and a gastric feeding tube was put in. But she’s had problems with that tube, and the doctor just removed it. (It had poked a hole in her stomach, I think.)

    So now she has a port, and is on TPN (intravenous feeding). The doctor has told her she can’t live long this way. 😦 Please pray for some kind of healing in her body to allow her to continue to live and enjoy her family. (Not sure how old she is, but I’m pretty sure she is somewhere between 45 and 50.)

    I think Jenn is saved, but I am not 100% sure, so please pray for her soul, and for salvation for her husband, son, daughter, and grandchildren. Thank you.

  10. Praise!

    My mother in law is home from the hospital after her surgery. So far, so good. 🙂

    And if you could pray for Cheryl, I’d appreciate it. Between the cancer surgery with Mom and the empty nest with Elizabeth gone are hitting her pretty hard right now.

    Thanks.

  11. We learned our dear 90 year old friend from small group was admitted to the hospital very late Friday/wee hours of Saturday morning. He and his wife had tested positive for Covid. She is doing well but not LeRoy. He has a very high fever and most likely dehydrated. He has a very bad heart and we nearly lost him last year. If you think of him please cover this dear precious brother in prayer. ❤️

  12. Heavenly Father,
    I lift up AJ and Cheryl to You this Sunday afternoon. Please bless them with extra comfort and peace as they process their transition along with the health concerns over Cheryl’s mother’s surgery. They are in the sandwich generation which experiences too much when things are occurring at the same time on both sides of the generations. That makes for so much stress. Thankfully You are there with them. Please let Your peace settle them down from worrisome concerns. I ask that they will keep focused on You and Your good plans. I pray for good communications to keep all well informed. May Cheryl’s mother have a good recovery without complications or infection. Please put good Christian influences in the life of Elizabeth and keep her safe from any kind of harm. May she be a beacon of the light of Jesus for others around her. AJ and Cheryl made the effort and used Your wisdom from the Bible to raise her up in the way she should go in life. Please may she always be on Your high path above the fray of the rebellious. I ask that she will do well in school and excel academically. May she find a good church family and organizations to help her advance spiritually in her Christian faith. Thank You Lord in advance for all the ways You are working Your good plans out in the lives of each member of this precious family who mean so much to us here in this virtual world that many times has intertwined with meetups in the real physical worlds where we live. It is awesome how You have placed all of us together. Thank You God for AJ and his skill set through which You work. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen
