It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.
Anyone else?
Psalm 2
1 Why do the nations conspire
and the peoples plot in vain?
2 The kings of the earth rise up
and the rulers band together
against the Lord and against his anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break their chains
and throw off their shackles.”
4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs;
the Lord scoffs at them.
5 He rebukes them in his anger
and terrifies them in his wrath, saying,
6 “I have installed my king
on Zion, my holy mountain.”
7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree:
He said to me, “You are my son;
today I have become your father.
8 Ask me,
and I will make the nations your inheritance,
the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You will break them with a rod of iron;
you will dash them to pieces like pottery.”
10 Therefore, you kings, be wise;
be warned, you rulers of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear
and celebrate his rule with trembling.
12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry
and your way will lead to your destruction,
for his wrath can flare up in a moment.
Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
Butcher comes today. Wisdom on what to move along. I do want to downsize. But I do like my goats and sheep. The animal care has fallen to the adults as the children cannot seem to get it. And the adults are getting tired.

I can’t imagine having to decide, Mumsee. Wow! I never had thought of the advantage of being a vegan/vegetarian quite the same way before. I am not an animal rights person, but taking care of animals and having to slaughter them for food yourself or through a person you hire makes it too close to home and heart. The grocery store and middleman/woman/it person makes the slaughter so far removed. I think Rkessler has to go through that, too. Now I am even more motivated to go buy some Beyond Meat for Art’s spaghetti sauce. I am not in any way passing judgement, but only recognizing I am too soft-hearted to have to make those decisions.

I understand, Janice. I suspect a lot of folk who grow animals for food understand. On the other hand, we know what the animals go through to end up on the butcher’s shelf in big stores. Our animals stay in their pasture until the end, with their pasture mates. No long rides to a stockyard or months in a feeding lot. No trip to the killing station. Hard as it is, I do believe it is the best for them to go quickly and quietly. But I do understand prefering to get your cut of meat from the store without the backstory.
