Prayer Requests 7-10-20

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 134

A song of ascents.

Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord
who minister by night in the house of the Lord.
Lift up your hands in the sanctuary
    and praise the Lord.

May the Lord bless you from Zion,
he who is the Maker of heaven and earth.

  1. Daughter, with whom we plan to go camping, has to take a covid test. Initially she was told she had to drive to places two to three hours away for the test tomorrow. Seems odd that an RN, working with hospitals in our major city, would not be quickly processed. She called and they changed it to local at ten thirty this morning.

Anyway, I would prefer she not have covid (or her children who are also showing symptoms) but whatever, we would like a quick return on the results so we can plan accordingly.

  2. Praying for peace in Detroit, where there is “breaking news”. A young black man was fatally shot by police early this afternoon. His family says he was shot in the back. The police say he was shooting at them. It’s been a tense afternoon. About two hours ago a marching crowd of protesters took up positions toe-to-toe with a line of police officers outside the police precinct. It’s hot and humid.

While I’ve been typing it started raining and the crowd left the police precinct and resumed marching. So I hope the situation is defused.

The police chief is expected to speak shortly. I hope they have body-cam footage verifying their version of events.

Detroit has had weeks of protests but so far very little rioting compared to other big cities.

  3. Prayers for Kizzie as she gathers information to help in decision making.

Father God, please give Kizzie wisdom and excellent counsel. You know the future and what is best for her and the family as a whole. Please always take good care of her. And I pray a good future for Nightingale and Boy and Chickadee that will include knowing Jesus as Lord and Savior. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

  4. Prayers for Detroit and Atlanta and other places where lawlessness seems to be ruling as justice in the sight of some people.

Father God, please help us all through these difficult days. Please protect the protectors and give wisdom to those in leadership and authority. I ask for peace beyond understanding as only You can give to settle into these hot spots and dissolve out of control rage and anger. Please comfort those who are suffering from deaths of loved ones. Especially I lift up Detroit and Atlanta this evening. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

  5. The protests in Detroit didn’t escalate any further, thank God. A good rain helped scatter the crowd. The dash cam and body cam record that the Detroit police chief showed this evening put to rest the story that the police had executed an unarmed black man for no reason.

Still there are those who insist that lethal force was unnecessary and unjustified, so we’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Several police officers had shown up to arrest one man, who submitted to the arrest peacefully. But a second man standing nearby, apparently a friend, said something along the lines of “You aren’t going to take my man,” pulled a gun from his pocket, pointed it at one of the officers just a few feet away, and fired. It’s amazing that he missed. He continued firing even after he had been shot down. The chief played the video several times in slow motion so there’s no question about what happened.

What could he have been thinking?
