It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.
Anyone else?
Psalm 122
A song of ascents. Of David.
1 I rejoiced with those who said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”
2 Our feet are standing
in your gates, Jerusalem.
3 Jerusalem is built like a city
that is closely compacted together.
4 That is where the tribes go up—
the tribes of the Lord—
to praise the name of the Lord
according to the statute given to Israel.
5 There stand the thrones for judgment,
the thrones of the house of David.
6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
“May those who love you be secure.
7 May there be peace within your walls
and security within your citadels.”
8 For the sake of my family and friends,
I will say, “Peace be within you.”
9 For the sake of the house of the Lord our God,
I will seek your prosperity.
Prayer for husband. He rushed down to help out only to learn they desperately needed him to babysit so daughter could go to her motorcycle class.

Mumsee, does that mean it seems a trifle less of an emergency to him than to them?

Cheryl, Husband gave up motorcycles when he had small children because he did not want to be doing something to increase his risk of not being there to help them grow up. He realizes she has three small people. Yes, the course is good. But is riding motorcycles the best plan for long term care of her children. She already rides and trains horses and is doing another semester of college. Are they doing things beyond their scope because we are enabling them? Or are we supporting them?

Mumsee, I would certainly be inclined to have that conversation with them. They’re adults and their choices might not be the same as yours . . . but of course you also choose what to “support.”

My high school youth group friend and fellow pianist, Heide, lost her fisherman father to cancer three days ago. He was 89.
Her husband, who has battled Parkinson’s for 17 years, went to bed early last night. When she joined him several hours later, Willie “had already gone home to be with Jesus.”
While her father’s death was not a surprise, her husband’s death has rocked the family. All strong believers, they could use prayers as they/we mourn.
Heide and Willie were married two months after us, in the same Trinity Lutheran Church, with the same friends in attendance. This death feels very close.
Weeping with those who weep–including 6 Arrows–today.

Thank you, Michelle. There were sweet tears of rejoicing and reminiscing today at the memorial service. See my post from a few minutes ago on the daily thread. 🙂
