  1. Good.

“Lindsey Graham will call four Carter Page FISA signers to testify before the Senate

The Senate Judiciary Committee chairman promised to call four signers of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrants targeting Carter Page to testify in the wake of the Justice Department watchdog’s report on FISA abuse.

Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina told CBS News that he would seek private depositions and public testimony from former FBI Director James Comey, former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, and former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

The Republican committee leader also plans to call current FBI Director Christopher Wray, who took over the bureau after Comey was fired in 2017 and wasn’t involved in approving FISA applications on former Trump associate Page.

Graham told CBS’s Catherine Herridge he planned to deliver a witness list for the FISA hearings to the Justice Department shortly and indicated weeks of FISA witness hearings might begin as soon as late February or early March.

“What I will do is I will get to the bottom of how the FISA warrant system failed and make sure we reform it, and it doesn’t happen again,” Graham told Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation on Sunday.”

  2. Lot’s more investigating of the investigators is coming….

“Justice Department taps outside prosecutor to review handling of Michael Flynn case”

“A senior Justice Department official told Fox News on Friday that Jeff Jensen, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, has been assigned to Flynn’s case.

Jensen will be working hand-in-hand with the lead prosecutor of Flynn case, Brandon Van Grack, according to the official.

The case against the former US Army lieutenant general has gone through years of twists and turns, with sentencing postponed repeatedly over the last two years. Flynn’s supporters have insisted he is innocent but was forced to plead guilty when his son was threatened with prosecution and he exhausted his financial resources.

The announcement of the review of Flynn’s case comes amid a tumultuous week at the Justice Department.”

  3. Tumultuous?

Indeed, and with more to come. 🙂

“DOJ Investigating If Obama Admin Hid, Manipulated Info On Russian Meddling, Report Says”

“U.S. Attorney John Durham is reportedly investigating if Obama administration officials hid or manipulated evidence about what they knew about Russia’s election interference in the 2016 U.S. elections.

    The New York Times reported:

Questions asked by Mr. Durham, who was assigned by Attorney General William P. Barr to scrutinize the early actions of law enforcement and intelligence officials struggling to understand the scope of Russia’s scheme, suggest that Mr. Durham may have come to view with suspicion several clashes between analysts at different intelligence agencies over who could see each other’s highly sensitive secrets.

Mr. Durham appears to be pursuing a theory that the C.I.A., under its former director John O. Brennan, had a preconceived notion about Russia or was trying to get to a particular result — and was nefariously trying to keep other agencies from seeing the full picture lest they interfere with that goal.

The Times noted that while some are skeptical of Durham’s investigation, others are not because he has a long track record of investigating law enforcement and intelligence agencies under both Democrat and Republican administrations.”

  4. Buried for a reason. Because they exposed classified info to a foreign agent not authorized to receive it.

Eric Felten is a meticulous reporter and one of my favorite analysts of the mysteries of the Russia collusion hoax. We have previously posted several of Eric’s RealClearInvestigations columns on the subject. In his most recent column Eric observes “Buried in IG Report: How an FBI Team in Rome Gave Steele Highly Guarded Secrets” RCI authorizes the republication of its articles with attribution and we are happy to take advantage of the opportunity here”

    Felten’s entire piece….

“Buried in IG Report: How an FBI Team in Rome Gave Steele Highly Guarded Secrets”

“A month before the 2016 presidential election, the FBI met Christopher Steele in Rome and apparently unlawfully shared with the foreign opposition researcher some of the bureau’s most closely held secrets, according to unpublicized disclosures in the recent Justice Department Inspector General report on abuses of federal surveillance powers.

What’s more, Steele, the former British spy who compiled the “dossier” of conspiracy theories for the Hillary Clinton campaign, was promised $15,000 to attend the briefing by FBI agents eager to maintain his cooperation in their Trump-Russia collusion investigation codenamed Crossfire Hurricane.

That investigation was so closely guarded that only a handful of top officials and agents at the FBI were allowed to know about it.

The report by Inspector General Michael Horowitz details how a team of FBI agents in early October 2016 shared with Steele extensive classified materials, just weeks before the bureau cut off ties with him for leaking his own research to the media. The secrets included foreign intelligence information still considered so sensitive that the IG’s report refers to it even now only as coming from a “Friendly Foreign Government.” In fact, this is a reference to Australia. That country’s ambassador to Britain sent the United States a tip about loose talk by junior Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos. The FBI has described that as the predicate for its Trump-Russia investigation.

The IG report also discloses that FBI agents knew Steele worked for Glenn Simpson, whose opposition research firm Fusion GPS was paying Steele to dig up dirt on Trump for the Clinton campaign, and that Steele informed the FBI that the “candidate” – Clinton herself – knew about Steele’s work. Steele did not keep to himself the classified material he had learned from the FBI. Shortly after the Rome meeting, Steele briefed Simpson on what the FBI had disclosed to him.

The FBI’s disclosures to Steele — described on pages 114-115 and in footnote 513, and supported on pages 386-390 and footnotes 252 and 513, deep in Horowitz’s report – were violations of laws governing the handling of classified material, according to the Inspector General and experts in national security law who spoke with RealClearInvestigations.

The Department of Justice did not respond to questions from RealClearInvestigations. Steele and Simpson did not respond to interview requests placed with their offices.”

  5. For what crime was Flynn’s son threatened with prosecution?
Something is wrong when a father can take the hit for a son’s crime.
    If there was a crime.

Our problem is that we twice elected a Muslim who was converted (he says) by a preacher who says< God dam America".
I knew it at the time. But evidently most Americans didn't know, or care.

  6. Not a victim-less crime.

Take the time to watch the video at the link.

“Near the end of his speech, Trump invited on stage Daria Ortiz — the granddaughter of the late Maria Fuentes. An illegal alien allegedly raped and murdered Fuentes in New York City in January, and her death has since sparked a national debate on the consequences of “sanctuary” policies.

“I’d like to take this moment that my grandmother was very generous and educated. She was a woman who dedicated her time to taking care of others,” Ortiz said, noting that her grandmother, who was born in the Dominican Republic, previously worked as a secretary for the president of her native country before emigrating to the U.S.

“She’s a shining example of when people come legally to this country, work hard, and do the right thing, and are law-abiding citizens. My grandmother raised her children and her grandchildren, while working hard, to give us a future,” Ortiz continued.

“Unfortunately, my grandmother had to be the example of why something like this horrific crime should never happen,” she added.”

  7. Well that didn’t take long, once the tainted jury was exposed to the light.

Add him to the list with Flynn. Even their convictions don’t stand up to scrutiny, and they will fall on appeal.

“Roger Stone Seeks New Trial Amid Juror Bias Controversy

“the day she voted to convict Stone … Hart tweeted two ‘heart’ emojis, followed by two pump-fist emojis””

“Roger Stone, a former advisor to President Trump, was indicted in January of last year for process crimes stemming from the Mueller investigation. He was convicted in November, and the prosecution’s sentencing recommendation was for seven to nine years behind bars, a sentence deemed by many, including Trump, to be excessive.

In the wake of the sentencing turmoil, the jury foreperson, Tomeka Hart, took to Facebook to “stand up for” the prosecutors. In so doing, she attracted sufficient attention that her anti-Trump social media posts, including some related to the Stone case before she was on the jury, were located.

These revelations, in turn, set off an avalanche of allegations of her bias, particularly due to her role as jury foreperson. Stone has requested a new trial, though the impetus for and contents of this request are not yet known.

    Fox News reports:

Former Memphis City Schools Board President Tomeka Hart revealed Wednesday that she was the foreperson of the jury that convicted former Trump adviser Roger Stone on obstruction charges last year — and soon afterward, her history of Democratic activism and a string of her anti-Trump, left-wing social media posts came to light.

Hart even posted specifically about the Stone case before she was selected to sit on the jury, as she retweeted an argument mocking those who considered Stone’s dramatic arrest in a predawn raid by a federal tactical team to be excessive force. She also suggested President Trump and his supporters are racist and praised the investigation conducted by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, which ultimately led to Stone’s prosecution.

. . . . The drama began when Hart confirmed to CNN and other media organizations Wednesday that she had written a Facebook post supporting the Justice Department prosecutors in the Stone case who abruptly stepped down from their posts on Tuesday, saying she “can’t keep quiet any longer.” The prosecutors apparently objected after senior DOJ officials overrode their recommendation to Jackson that Stone face up to 9 years in prison.

“I want to stand up for Aaron Zelinsky, Adam Jed, Michael Marando, and Jonathan Kravis — the prosecutors on the Roger Stone trial,” Hart wrote in the post. “It pains me to see the DOJ now interfere with the hard work of the prosecutors. They acted with the utmost intelligence, integrity, and respect for our system of justice.”

Following her post, revelations about her political beliefs and history, as well as her apparent anti-Trump, anti-Stone bias surfaced.

    Fox News continues:

Independent journalist Mike Cernovich, not CNN, then first reported that a slew of Hart’s other publicly available Twitter and Facebook posts readily suggested a strong political bias. Some of Hart’s posts were written as Stone’s trial was in progress.

Hart, who unsuccessfully ran for Congress as a Democrat in 2012, quoted someone in an August 2017 tweet referring to Trump as a member of the KKK.

In January 2019, she retweeted a post by pundit Bakari Sellers, who noted that “Roger Stone has y’all talking about reviewing use of force guidelines,” before suggesting that racism was the reason for all the attention Stone’s arrest had received from conservatives.

. . . . In August 2019, Hart called all Trump supporters “racist.”

“Gotta love it!” Hart wrote on Jan. 13, 2018, in response to a news report that a vulgarity had been projected onto the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.

. . . . Most of Hart’s posts were from before she was selected to sit on the Stone jury late 2019. But, on Nov. 15, 2019 — the day she voted to convict Stone on seven counts of obstruction, witness tampering and making false statements to Congress — Hart tweeted two “heart” emojis, followed by two pump-fist emojis.

(None of Stone’s charges accused him of engaging in a criminal conspiracy with Russia or any other actors concerning election interference; instead, his offenses related to his statements concerning his contacts with WikiLeaks and others.)”

  8. And enough with the “moderates” BS.

The media just loves them some false narratives. Again. Still.

Contrary to all the media hype, Democratic presidential candidates Pete Buttigieg and Sen. Amy Klobuchar are nowhere close to “moderate””

“With socialist Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ star rising in the Democratic Party and the rampant infighting going on in Democrat circles as to whether or not that’s a good thing, the mainstream media is pushing a new narrative in advance of the upcoming Nevada caucuses, South Carolina primary, and Super Tuesday.

Their message? That Sen. Amy Klobuchar (MN) and former mayor of South Bend, Indiana Pete Buttigieg are “moderate” Democrat candidates that primary voters uncomfortable with Sanders can turn to.

For example, in the run-up to the New Hampshire primary, CNN ran a piece asserting that Klobuchar was “one of the three moderate candidates” including Buttigieg and Joe Biden. Both Buttigieg and Klobuchar were described as “moderate candidates” by NPR after their respective 2nd and 3rd place finishes in New Hampshire.

Vox’s Matthew Yglesias characterized Klobuchar as “the thinking moderate Democrat’s electability candidate.” Last month, Politico stated Klobuchar was a “moderate Minnesotan.””

“But are they? Examinations of their records and statements while on the campaign trail paint a picture that is at odds with this narrative:

In fact, The Washington Examiner discovered Klobuchar “actually voted with socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders 87 percent of the time over the course of her Senate career.” Klobuchar’s own home state newspaper declared: “Across the spectrum, Klobuchar holds positions that until recently were considered the definition of liberalism, and even on the left edge of that definition….Klobuchar has never gotten a rating lower than 85 percent from the ADA. In three years, ADA scored her at 100 percent….These are the ADA scores of a very solid liberal, which is what Klobuchar always has been and still is.”

One review of Buttigieg’s public stances found that “From health care and abortion to guns and immigration, and from the Supreme Court to the Electoral College, the man is decidedly a radical.”

On hot-button issues like gun rights, abortion, and Medicare for All, both Klobuchar and Buttigieg are far to the left of the average moderate/centrist politician.

Klobuchar stated during the first Democratic debate last year that mandatory gun buybacks were not actually gun confiscation because gun owners received “offers” from the government to “buy back” their guns. This was well before failed presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke proposed a mandatory gun buyback program just a couple of months later.

Buttigieg is a proponent of so-called “red flag laws” and a nationwide gun licensing system and, like Klobuchar, supports a ban on “assault weapons.”

On abortion, both Klobuchar and Buttigieg support unrestricted access to abortion during any stage of pregnancy, although Klobuchar stated during a Fox News town hall back in May that “there are limits there in the third trimester that are very important.”

There are no moderates left in the Dem party.

  9. Good news…..

“Joe And Hunter Biden’s China Connections Under Even Closer Scrutiny”

“We already learned that a majority of Americans find Hunter Biden’s sweetheart deal with Ukranian energy giant Burisma to be problematic at best. Despite nearly all of the mainstream media providing as much cover for the Bidens as possible, you have to wonder how everyone is feeling about the unfolding story of a very similar series of deals that the younger Biden landed in China. The closer you look at Hunter’s incredibly “fortunate” affairs in that nation, the worse it smells. And it also raises questions about Joe Biden’s very friendly attitude toward an increasingly aggressive country that’s rife with human rights abuses.

At the New York Post, there’s a detailed breakdown of how Hunter Biden cashed in. It’s written by Peter Schweizer, the author of Secret Empires, and the details paint a very troubling picture.

In 2013, then-Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden flew aboard Air Force Two to China. Less than two weeks later, Hunter Biden’s firm inked a $1 billion private equity deal with a subsidiary of the Chinese government’s Bank of China. The deal was later expanded to $1.5 billion. In short, the Chinese government funded a business that it co-owned along with the son of a sitting vice president.

If it sounds shocking that a vice president would shape US-China policy as his son — who has scant experience in private equity — clinched a coveted billion-dollar deal with an arm of the Chinese government, that’s because it is.

If that story sounds oddly familiar to you it’s not just your imagination. Hunter landed the Burisma deal despite having no background in the energy industry and he doesn’t speak Ukranian. Similarly, he had virtually no experience in private equity markets or banking and he doesn’t speak Chinese, but he somehow managed to nail down billions in business for his own, recently formed LLC that was created just for such “opportunities.””

More here from The NY Post on how they broke the law and sheltered their money from scrutiny. I say they, because Joe is dirty too….

“Why is Joe Biden so warm toward China?

Last week, Biden raised eyebrows when he shrugged off concerns over the China threat. “Come on, man,” Biden said. “I mean, you know, they’re not bad folks, folks. But guess what, they’re not competition for us.”

Perhaps Biden’s insouciant attitude toward the Chinese government has to do with the fact that his family does not consider them competitors but business partners.

Until the publication of my book, “Secret Empires,” no one knew the deal took place. Indeed, it took me and a team of seasoned investigators nearly two years to unearth and report the facts.

Without the aid of subpoena power, here’s what we know. The businesses of Hunter Biden and his partners created a series of LLCs involved in multibillion-dollar private equity deals with companies owned by the Chinese government.”
