Prayer Requests 2-8-20

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 8

A psalm of David.

Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

   You have set your glory
    in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
   the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

  1. Honestly, let’s start over. What misery 2020 has brought people I love.

    * Our friend Glenn got his results: metastic pulmonary cancer— that’s probably not quite right but I was crying when I read it aloud to my husband.

    * When last I heard yesterday, my friend R’s husband was in surgery with an “enormous” blood clot in his legs, red streaking up his leg into his groin, multiple blood clots in the lungs and an irregular heart beat.

I’m not expecting good news when I hear in a couple hours. Weeping.

    * The continuing challenges for Mumsee’s daughter and family.

My husband keeps reminding me that God gives us the grace we need for our circumstances, not those of others, but I’m still discomforted.

Of course that means I pray.

    Thanks.

  2. Mr. P will be having a procedure on his back Monday to see if they can “tweak” the stimulator that is already in his back and give him further relief. I am having a hard time being optimistic about this. That’s my problem. Will the rest of you pray and be optimistic for me?

  3. 😦 Might not be the best week ever for my mother-in-law to be on a cruise. (Yes, she is, but none that have made the news.) She was going with a friend, and a wealthy son of the friend upgraded them into a nicer suite, but they debated not going. Next we heard, they had decided to go ahead and go, but we never heard what made that decision. Maybe the simple reality that at 83 and 87, you’re not guaranteed you can wait and go next year instead, maybe that they’d already paid and “sickness going around the world” just might not be covered under trip insurance. (When she was leaning toward cancelling, she was happy they had trip insurance, and after we got off the phone I told my husband my hunch is it wouldn’t cover the cancellation. Next thing we knew, they were going. So whether someone talked them into it, her friend still wanted to go, trip insurance wouldn’t refund the money, or all of the above, we don’t know.)

😦 It has been a “stark” week on several levels, though.

🙂 My husband feels enough better that he’s painting again.

🙂 Work continues to come in for me, with projects paid and/or committed already past half of last year’s total (last year was a good year for staying busy, but not necessarily for high paying work). I have six projects committed, and that isn’t even counting two projects since they’re just a few hour’s work each.

🙂 I got a fun new toy for my camera, which has given me some amazing shots. I’ve been already impressed with what my camera can get in terms of close-up shots (better than one would expect of a camera of this quality), and with the extra lens, wow. I did get my shot of a snowflake this morning. It felt like a gift from God, since few of the snowflakes were the classic six-sided crystal, but this one was. And it was big, and sitting on top of snow on the car, where it could be easily seen and fairly easily photographed.

🙂 And that red-shouldered hawk in a tree at both ends of my walk was a real treat. I committed to a group on Flickr where you post one photo taken each day–not more than one, just one–and the snowflake was going to be my photo of the day until that beautiful hawk showed up.
