Prayer Requests 1-25-20

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 146

Praise the Lord.

   Praise the Lord, my soul.

I will praise the Lord all my life;
I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.
Do not put your trust in princes,
in human beings, who cannot save.
When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
on that very day their plans come to nothing.
Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
whose hope is in the Lord their God.

He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
the sea, and everything in them—
    he remains faithful forever.
He upholds the cause of the oppressed
and gives food to the hungry.
   The Lord sets prisoners free,
the Lord gives sight to the blind,
the Lord lifts up those who are bowed down,
    the Lord loves the righteous.
The Lord watches over the foreigner
and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

10 The Lord reigns forever,
your God, O Zion, for all generations.

   Praise the Lord.

  1. Please pray for God to move in my boy’s heart, and in his relationships with his parents. And in their hearts, too, of course.

X seems to be going downhill lately. There have been a couple times he’s been particularly late, There was the time he communicated with Boy, but not an adult, that he would not be picking him up on Friday (for their weekly overnight) but would pick him up Saturday. The next week, he was three hours late getting Boy home, and it was his mom who actually brought him home. (Although he and I had been texting about needing to get Boy home, he told his mom that he wasn’t sure anyone was home.)

Last night, already a couple hours late, he called Boy via his step-dad’s phone, with Grandpa asking to talk to Boy, then apparently giving the phone to X when Boy was on. (It surprised me that he would do that, as he has not been the enabling type in the past.) Boy put the phone on speaker, so we overheard X telling him that he would pick him up this morning around 8:30 or 8:45 instead. (Boy had his Cub Scout pack’s Pinewood Derby today, which X was going to take him to, since it is during his visitation time.)

Around 8:30, I got a text from X’s Mom asking me to tell her if I don’t here from X, as she was the “backup driver” in case X didn’t make it. Never heard from X, so since this is Nightingale’s weekend off, and she is a leader, she took Boy.

Never heard a word from X.

While Nightingale was getting ready to go, Boy was next to me on the couch, and he was very angry, punching a couch cushion over and over. Who was he mad at? His mother. He cannot be angry at his dad, so he turns it towards her. It made me so sad for her.

“Touch” is one of his love languages (mine as well), so I patted and rubbed his back and shoulder, asking him what was wrong, and why was he so mad. I think it calmed him a little bit, and he did express being angry at his mom, but it didn’t defuse all his anger.

The next court date is on Monday. It is as if X is shooting himself in his own foot.

  2. Newsletter is done, approved, and sent. Whew! I have needed to get it done for the last month and finally it is done. Now on to all those thank you notes….

  3. Friend from church (we also went to the same previous church, several of us transferred to this one around the same time) just learned on Friday that she had what’s called “triple negative breast cancer” and now has been hospitalized with seizure-like (stroke-like?) symptoms. She’s not much older than I am, lives with her daughter who’s an attorney so she has her to lean on through this.

  4. Always praying, too, Kizzie. Some of that is probably why Nightingale did not want your connection with the other grandmother. None of it is good for the boy. I can well imagine how sad it makes you, too.

  5. Josh, the young man I’d been sharing updates on, is home now. His family finally had their Christmas celebration yesterday, exactly one month late. I jokingly asked if they would be celebrating New Year’s Eve on the 31st. 🙂

There is still no answer as to what caused the seizures and fever. Please pray this will not happen again, and/or that the doctors will figure it out, along with how to prevent another episode. (This was the second one.)

  6. In yesterday’s prayer request, I mentioned that the next court date for Nightingale and X is Monday. Please pray that things will go more in Nightingale’s favor (which is really in Boy’s best interests). She has, on more than one occasion, lamented to me that no matter what X does, he gets away with it, and gets what he wants. She fears that somehow his ability to snow people will work in his favor at court.
