Prayer Requests 1-16-20

It’s Thursday, so don’t forget to pray for Jo, her students, and the people of PNG.

Anyone else?

Psalm 138

Of David.

I will praise you, Lord, with all my heart;
    before the “gods” I will sing your praise.
I will bow down toward your holy temple
    and will praise your name
    for your unfailing love and your faithfulness,
   for you have so exalted your solemn decree
    that it surpasses your fame.
When I called, you answered me;
    you greatly emboldened me.

May all the kings of the earth praise you, Lord,
    when they hear what you have decreed.
May they sing of the ways of the Lord,
    for the glory of the Lord is great.

Though the Lord is exalted, he looks kindly on the lowly;
    though lofty, he sees them from afar.
Though I walk in the midst of trouble,
    you preserve my life.
   You stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes;
    with your right hand you save me.
The Lord will vindicate me;
    your love, Lord, endures forever—
    do not abandon the works of your hands.

  1. A 6 am phone call usually means trouble and your heart clenches.

    This morning it was my EMT.

    One of the medical schools in Philadelphia has set up an interview.

    “Miss Personality,” just needs an interview, in our opinion.

    They don’t invite you across the country if there’s not a good chance of being offered a spot.

    Ecstatic for her, sobered for us. It won’t be so easy to have her pop up for the weekend.

    But, we have a lot of friends within 150 miles of Philly . . .

    Thankful for this gift of encouragement for a young woman who has soldiered on for a long time in this quest.

    But, wary. God’s will be done.

  2. Meanwhile, a young woman close to my heart miscarried a much wanted child, after a lot of effort to get it, yesterday.

    They have two healthy children, but her family has been through so much the last few years. We’re hurting and grieving for her.

  3. Prayer for husband who is stressing and very angry. Meds? Family pressure? The pressure of living and working with a crazy person every day? And her eighteen year old aide?
