  1. 😦 This cold is now entering its second week.

πŸ™‚ As soon as I feel energetic, I get to work.

    😦 Then I either relapse

😦 or read all night with insomnia.

πŸ™‚ Bible study starts up again on Tuesday

    πŸ™‚ Proverbs.

πŸ™‚ I need to have my wits about me!

πŸ™‚ 8 pregnant women on my prayer list. Last years at this time, I β€œonly” had 6. God is good!

  2. How would like to be in the same chair with your legs propped up all the time?
Day in and out. Noting to do. Nothing you can do that doesn’t cause trouble.

We have the TV on FoxNews most of the time.
I do that because I don’t have time to switch through channels looking for something to watch all the time. And there is almost nothing on.

At the bottom of the screen, it has “Fox News Alert”. She often asks about that. I explain to her that it doesn’t mean anything. It always says Alert. Which seems to me to be a bad practice because if there were a real alert, it would be ignored, like all the rest.

  3. Could you buy her a very easy printed needlework to do, Chas? I know the nursing home my mom was in for rehab briefly used that sometimes for people. Someone may have to keep the needles threaded and help at times. Otherwise it keeps hands busy.

😦 I have had mouth pain. I did visit the dentist who thinks it is from my sinuses. I do have allergy issues, but thought it was a tooth. She said to give it a couple of weeks with pain relievers before we do more X-rays. I just had some in October, but these would be more on the root. My husband plays for a senior group out of town and we will be there all afternoon and evening. I am not sure how that will go, although I just sit for the most part.

😦 One of my SIL’s former employees drown when the new boat he was on went down in the Bering Sea. Please pray for all those heartbroken families. One is a young woman who was going to marry one of the men. A father (the skipper) and his son both perished, as well as others. Thank God for saving two of the men.

  4. My dad and stepmom watch CSpan and sports and Jeopardy all day. She sits in her chair with her feet up. He sits on the couch by his pile of newspapers. They talk about the world and sports and Jeapordy. And gaze into each other’s eyes and giggle. Then they hold hands across the span.

  5. PBS programming (some of their mysteries are good)? Hallmark? Just for a break now and again from Fox. πŸ™‚ Maybe find a reliable secondary channel she likes that wouldn’t require a whole lot of constant flipping.

  6. Chas – Would she like to do those Seek-a-Word puzzle books. Those came in handy with my MIL.

Do you get the TCM (Turner Classic Movies) channel? Having some nice old movies on could be pleasantly distracting. (We don’t get that channel, but I wish we did, because I love old movies.)

A kinda funny story I’ve probably told before: Starting at 8:00pm Christmas Eve, TBS starts playing 24 hours of A Christmas Story, a gentle comedy that takes place in the early 40s. We had that playing on my MIL’s TV in her room all day one Christmas day, and she loved watching it, not realizing that she’d been watching the same movie over and over.

(For the record, Mary preferred to stay in her nice warm room, with us checking in on her periodically. We weren’t forcing her to stay in there.)

  7. ~~Football post~~
πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚ Titans beat Patriots in the AFC Wildcard game, ending the New England dynasty in the NFL.
(I hope I haven’t offended any Pats fans.)
