Anyone have something to share?
Psalm 124
A song of ascents. Of David.
1 If the Lord had not been on our side—
let Israel say—
2 if the Lord had not been on our side
when people attacked us,
3 they would have swallowed us alive
when their anger flared against us;
4 the flood would have engulfed us,
the torrent would have swept over us,
5 the raging waters
would have swept us away.
6 Praise be to the Lord,
who has not let us be torn by their teeth.
7 We have escaped like a bird
from the fowler’s snare;
the snare has been broken,
and we have escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
I woke up feeling great and full of energy for many tasks.
Two hours later, without having attended to any tasks, I’m ready to return to bed, energy sagging away.
I have ministry to do from 4-10 tonight and meals to cook for tomorrow. Help.

From Joanne:
“Latest prayer letter. If you would like to receive it via email, PM me.
You know those plans you make… These last several months have been filled with the unexpected. Prolonged illness, early departures, political rumblings etc. In the midst of the craziness we still see God’s hand.
JK one of the young believers, found herself with 3 Christian roommates at college. In a 90% Muslim country, you KNOW that is God’s hand.
MBS continues to attend the missionary church service often. Every time he opens his mouth his growth is evident.
People continue to ask for the memory cards of Bible teaching. Some ask for them so they can pass them on to others! Several in Fula went to Senegal last week.
Not long ago a neighbor lady came to show me how God had answered my prayer for her. In the conversation I had the chance to clearly share the gospel. She said she would be back to hear more.
The Monday before Christmas I had in mind to do a simple Christmas celebration with the believers or whoever showed up. I asked God to bring the people He wanted. I hadn’t invited anyone, but it was the normal day for the believers to come. I threw together some no-bake cookies and called it good. 3 believers showed up (included one who hadn’t come in a long time) and 2 unbelievers who used to study with one of the missionaries in the past. I shared the Christmas story and why Jesus came all the while holding the newborn of one of my visitors.
Thanking for praying and giving toward the container, it arrived with no issues and the other day a handyman arrived in country to help with some of the projects. It was like Christmas in August. Thanks to all of you who contributed for the station upgrade project and for my personal home upgrade project! My new couch is enjoyed by many Gambians and my houseworker loves the spinner dryer that eases her workload. We haven’t heard back on the duty waiver yet, so keep praying that it is granted. Pray for Scott, our visiting handyman. We had hoped for a team to help him, but that didn’t work out. He will be on his own with some of our Gambian employees.
We had to say good-bye to 2 missionary families in December. The Moraes family from Brazil is moving on to Portugal where their high school girls will be able to attend public school. The Robisons, who have run our guesthouse and been our government liaison for over 30 years, headed home in December for retirement. Their retirement was earlier than expected due to some health concerns, so we are reeling as we try to cover the guesthouse compound in the city and keep up with the government paperwork on top of all our regular work. Right now there are only 3 of us in country. We are praying that Teresa will return in February. Pray for good recovery from knee surgery. The Reeds have over 70% of their support and we are praying that we can welcome them before the end of 2020. It all seems overwhelming, but when I am weak, He is strong..
Please continue to pray for my support. I am about $850/month under supported. God provides and I am not in need, but this is a serious deficit. Pray and if God leads you to give, you can use the link below.
Serving by grace,
Joanne

From Josh’s mom Jenna:
“Update on Josh. Last night and night before not great. More med adjustment so at the right place for sure so they can see what is going on 24/7. I lift him up in prayer for healing and renewal, bring peace to his mind and spirit. For the doctors and nurses to have God-directed wisdom and direction.
Love to you all ❤️”

Please pray “traveling mercies” for Nightingale tonight. She and Boy are going to her best friend Stephanie’s house (about a half hour drive away) for the evening, and planning to ring in the New Year there at midnight. (And she has to work tomorrow. 😦 ) Besides being concerned about drunk drivers that may be out there at that time of night, there is also a warning of possible black ice.
