Prayer Requests 12-13-19

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 119:33-48

ה He

33 Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees,
that I may follow it to the end.
34 Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law
and obey it with all my heart.
35 Direct me in the path of your commands,
    for there I find delight.
36 Turn my heart toward your statutes
    and not toward selfish gain.
37 Turn my eyes away from worthless things;
preserve my life according to your word.
38 Fulfill your promise to your servant,
so that you may be feared.
39 Take away the disgrace I dread,
    for your laws are good.
40 How I long for your precepts!
In your righteousness preserve my life.

ו Waw

41 May your unfailing love come to me, Lord,
    your salvation, according to your promise;
42 then I can answer anyone who taunts me,
for I trust in your word.
43 Never take your word of truth from my mouth,
for I have put my hope in your laws.
44 I will always obey your law,
    for ever and ever.
45 I will walk about in freedom,
for I have sought out your precepts.
46 I will speak of your statutes before kings
and will not be put to shame,
47 for I delight in your commands
    because I love them.
48 I reach out for your commands, which I love,
that I may meditate on your decrees.

  1. Please pray for my leg and knee to feel better. It is rather stiff and right now I have to limp along. I have a luncheon to attend tomorrow so I hope God will bless me with a less painful walking situation for tomorrow. Thank you for praying.

  2. Nightingale took me to the urgent care place this morning. They did another chest x-ray. Although I no longer have the symptoms of an infection, like fever, the x-ray showed no improvement in my lung, indicating that there may be something other than pneumonia going on in there. So I am going for a catscan this afternoon at 3:30.

The cute (as in very good-looking 🙂 ) Indian doctor was quick to say that he does not suspect cancer. He also put me on two more meds, one being prednisone.

This has thrown me for a bit of a loop, because I had assumed I merely needed some more medication to kick the rest of it out. Had no idea there was no improvement in the lung and I’d be sent for a catscan.

I ended up having to call to say that I will be a little late (and wondering if they would want to reschedule) because X will be picking up Boy at 3:15, and I should be at my appointment 15 minutes early, meaning at 3:15. The lady said that was okay, they’ll take me when I get there.

It would have made sense to text X and have him pick up Boy from school, but X broke his phone, so it was his mom who told me to expect him at 3:15. I have no way of contacting him. He had better be on time.

  3. Turns out it is still pneumonia. The physician’s assistant who called with the results (which surprised me as I thought I wouldn’t hear till Monday) said that some people take a longer time to recover from pneumonia. The two meds I was prescribed (prednisone and an antibiotic) should take care of it.

  4. Praying that both of you will be feeling better soon, Janice and Kizzie.

Please continue praying for my mom. Her foot is sprained from the fall the other night, and now she has a UTI. Hoping the antibiotic she was prescribed today clears up the infection and the confusion she’s experiencing (likely due to the UTI). She thought today was Tuesday. A bit after that, she said, “no, Thursday.” Then, “Friday.” Then a while later, with conviction: “It’s Friday.”

Pray that she’ll take the full course of antibiotics. She’s not consistent with doing that — she finds various “reasons” to stop taking things she shouldn’t discontinue — so my siblings and I are going to have to give her some reminders about that.

  5. So far I can’t sleep. I’m fighting not to get a cold–it would be bad timing on several levels. I’m supposed to teach Sunday school this weekend, and I have two editing deadlines by mid-week (one project is almost completely finished but one still needs quite a lot of work), and then there is always Christmas stuff that needs to be done (packages wrapped, shipping some, Christmas letter), and so forth. And my husband definitely doesn’t need to get sick. I’ve been gargling the last two days and hoping that keeps it from settling in, but overall I just don’t feel very good and it’s hard to work on deadlines under those circumstances. One of these projects is the one that has at least four levels of referrals behind it, and it’s the first job I’ve done for this particular party, so it would be nice if I can manage not to complicate their work too much . . .
