Prayer Requests 10-5-19

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 57

Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me,
    for in you I take refuge.
   I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
    until the disaster has passed.

I cry out to God Most High,
    to God, who vindicates me.
He sends from heaven and saves me,
    rebuking those who hotly pursue me—
    God sends forth his love and his faithfulness.

I am in the midst of lions;
    I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—
   men whose teeth are spears and arrows,
    whose tongues are sharp swords.

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
    let your glory be over all the earth.

They spread a net for my feet—
    I was bowed down in distress.
   They dug a pit in my path—
    but they have fallen into it themselves.

My heart, O God, is steadfast,
    my heart is steadfast;
    I will sing and make music.
Awake, my soul!
    Awake, harp and lyre!
    I will awaken the dawn.

I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
    I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
    your faithfulness reaches to the skies.

11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
    let your glory be over all the earth.

  1. In Goroka I found a pack of six mandarin oranges from Australia. They are so sweet. There is nothing like that here. I have given two away to share the joy and have one left. It is the little things that bring joy.

  2. We are praising that daughter elected to come home with baby rather than continue in that lifestyle. Even though it is challenging for all. Prayer on that.

    Especially today and tomorrow. Daughter works all night for clinicals and then plans to talk with baby dad on the phone in the afternoon. She decided to give him an ultimatum: he tells his folks or she does. Pretty edgy today, understandably. I did not tell her to do that but, since she did, suggested she write down some ideas as to why she thinks they should be told so she does not get frazzled on the phone.

  3. I sent daughter to bed. She agreed to lead songs in church this morning, but I pulled the mom card and told her God could get by without us singing this morning. Baby needs her to get some sleep. She was up working all day yesterday, and then working as a CNA all night. Prayer for wisdom all around, and patience.

  4. The other day, a couple in our church lost their adult son to a car accident. Don’t know if he was a believer, God does. He was a war vet and a drug addict. Struggling. Prayer for his folks. My dad says there is nothing like losing a child to death, no matter the age.

  5. We managed to sing praises at church today even without accompanying music or a leader. People chose songs and started them and we sang. Nice to be able to hear the people instead of the music. I suspect God was fine with it.

    Baby dad did not call at the time he chose to call. Daughter has gone back to bed. He has until delivery to tell them. He is worried they will pull the funds for his college, which he has frittered. Though apparently, he broke his back this past early summer and is no longer able to party as he gets injections which require a blood test to make sure he is not mixing drugs. God’s ways are not our ways.
