Prayer Requests 8-16-19

It’s Friday, so please remember to pray for Mumsee, Mike, and the Nestlings.

Anyone else?

Psalm 13

How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever?
How long will you hide your face from me?
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts
and day after day have sorrow in my heart?
How long will my enemy triumph over me?

Look on me and answer, Lord my God.
Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death,
and my enemy will say, “I have overcome him,”
and my foes will rejoice when I fall.

But I trust in your unfailing love;
my heart rejoices in your salvation.
I will sing the Lord’s praise,
for he has been good to me.

  1. Thanks for your prayers yesterday. Once I reached out for prayer, it seemed to come together which is a relief.

Hopefully, I’ll have it mostly in place by this afternoon or tomorrow, thanks be to God.

Then I get to practice and tweak!

  2. Prayer for daughter and her toe, and wisdom as to whether or not to take her in. Normally, it is fixed, but with pregnancy, infection matters more. Did I mention that she is uninsured?

  3. Ouch on several levels mumsee.

Prayers for a friend who went in for a CAT scan yesterday — they’d earlier ruled out cancer but she did recently have a stage 1 cancer removed from her breast. But the lung issue they believed was pneumonia and now aren’t sure (but I understand that benign nodes showing up on these scans are not uncommon and not something to worry about). She should get the results in a few days.

Continued prayer for Carol although she sounded much better last night. She and her boyfriend at the facility are already making plans to buy Christmas cards that they can pass out to all those they have friendships with there. She needs a bedside lamp so I told her I’d get one for her. The last one I also bought — at Walmart several years ago, she went with me that time — but it’s vanished as things often do in those places, especially after residents are moved around a few times.

  4. Please pray for a resolution to a relationship issue between Nightingale and me. I’ve mentioned before that she can be quite terse at times, but I don’t know if I’ve mentioned that sometimes she takes on a reprimanding tone when she doesn’t like the way I’ve done something. I’ve usually just licked my wounds and waited for her mood to pass (which it quickly does), but after an incident this morning, I knew I had to address it.

Knowing that I would back down from some of what I had in mind to say if I tried to talk to her face-to-face, I sent her a Facebook message, which she hasn’t seen yet. (For those who don’t know, Facebook indicates when a message has been seen.) But since the incident this morning, she and I have had a couple friendly exchanges, so at least there isn’t a wedge between us.

  5. Praying, Mumsee, DJ, and Kizzie, and praising with you, Michelle.

I’d like to request prayer for my piano students and their families. A number of hard things going on, unrelated to lessons. (I’m numbering my students in the order they started with me. My daughter to whom I teach piano isn’t included in this list.)

#1. Student’s grandpa’s brain tumor is inoperable. He starts radiation treatment next week.

#2. No challenges that I know of. This student, the youngest of four children in their family, is clearly being raised with a good work ethic and other positive values. I praise God that she’s growing up with what appears to be a stable, loving home life.

#3. Student from a broken home. I think something has changed again in one of the households. He has been quite withdrawn the last three lessons.

#4. Student’s dad had a serious accident on the river, and broke his tibia in two places and fibula in one. Mom is having to do a lot of things that Dad had done before his accident, and Dad is finding it challenging to cope with being laid up. Student is also about to start middle school, which can have some of its own challenges.

Thanks for praying. These people mean a lot to me, and I appreciate your willingness to join me in praying for them.
