Here’s the video of so-called journalist @BrianKarem heckling and insulting attendees of today’s Rose Garden event. This guy gets paid by CNN to do this. pic.twitter.com/EHwV1WTLGN
“At least 19 people have been killed and at least 40 others, including a four-month-old baby, were wounded after a gunman opened fire inside an El Paso Walmart Saturday.
One suspect is in custody. He has been identified in press reports as @@@@@@@ a 21-year-old man from Dallas. ”
“One suspect was in custody, officials said. Law enforcement sources say police identified the suspect as @@@@@@@ 21, from the Dallas area.
Multiple senior law enforcement officials believe Crusius posted a manifesto online just prior to the attack. They say investigators are examining a posting they suspect is from him but that they have not officially confirmed it.
The sources said it was too soon to draw any motives from the posting.
A second person was also taken into custody, but it was not immediately known what role, if any, the person played in the shooting, sources familiar with the investigation told NBC News.”
Sadly, it’s worse this morning. There was a copy cat last night.
And I know the press trumpets this stuff in order to push gun control, but maybe start leaving out the shooters names. Don’t give them the fame they seek. Same with these “manifestos”. Stop giving them what they seek most, notoriety. Let the remain nameless cowards.
Names should be reported, it’s part of the story. But I also noticed yesterday that the Texas shooter’s name wasn’t being repeated. Honesty, I don’t think it makes much of a difference.
Gun control yes. But again, these guys will always have guns — and a personal ‘manifesto’ of grievances to justify their actions. Names, no names, there’s something more deeply spiritual going on here.
And I don’t think it’s a stretch to ask whether this might be part of a judgement of God on our nation in our day. We can’t know God’s hidden will in allowing such events to occur. But we do know that they occur under his providence and for a divine purpose, unsearchable though it may be to us on this side of heaven. But I think it’s always appropriate for believers to ask those deeper questions, to do some self-searching, to recognize the wake-up calls of God on a people or a nation and then to call out to God in prayer – to go deeper than the headlines and speculation about which political ax this particular shooter was out to grind so we know which political party or cause to (superficially) blame. White supremacy and racism? Antifa? Fill in another blank? It’s always something. Publish it, bring it into the light. That’s only the superficial story anyway. It really won’t matter to the next guy who has a gun and private grievance in his head he’s bent on acting upon.
These shootings are a dark occurrence in our day. I’m convinced they will not be stopped by any kind of superficial response, although stricter gun laws, background checks and restrictions on sales aren’t an unreasonable political reaction. But simply passing laws or not publishing names or the contents of a ‘manifesto’ isn’t going to solve what’s really going on here. These are dark, spiritual influences at work and, no, we can’t immediately “do something” (or not do something) to just “stop them.”
Do all dogs in fact go to heaven? Every parent who has had to have that talk with a child knows how difficult it is. In my latest @YouTube video, I talk about life after death for animals: https://t.co/uiNQR6Ea0U
This won’t stop either side from seeking to tie the shooter to the other side, but sometimes they are just a nut that hates everyone.
Since folks consider it part of the story we need to know…..
The manifesto.
He hates R’s, D’s, corporations, immigrants, race mixing, plastic and electronic waste, how we’re destroying the environment, and college.
Likes include universal healthcare, universal basic income (he believes it will be required) automation, (because it will reduce the need for more immigrants) and punishing his perceived enemies.
He’s like a woke leftist with far-right white supremacist tendencies.
“The sister of the suspected Oregon District shooter is among the nine victims killed, according to Dayton police.
Dayton police released the identities of the victims during a 1 p.m. news conference at the Dayton Convention Center. Five men and four women were killed in the mass shooting Sunday morning, police said: Lois Olglesby, 27. Megan Betts, 22. She was the sister of the suspected shooter, identified as (edited). Said Saleh, 38. Derrick Fudge, 57.Logan Turner, 30.Nicholas Cummer, 25.Thomas McNichols, 25.Beatrice Warren Curtis, 36.Monica Brickhouse, 39.”
Obviously motive is important and the press needs to report it. By making citizens aware, and if patterns emerge, the public can apply pressure to the correct agencies. If the motive is white supremacy, Islamic, gang warfare or workplace violence, the prople need to know. And if its domestic terrorism (as the garlic festival and el paso were) then the public needs to know. To hide this is akin to putting your head in the sand.
Williamson in the democratic debate mentioned dark psychic forces in the US. Not the spiritual problem most people usually subscribe to mass shootings but the sane idea. Its an idea slightly better than thougts and prayers. If spirituality is the problem why is the most religious nation in the developed world the one with mass shootings. Its more accurate to say there are cultural issues which provide the underlying problem snd solution. However, unless the US can chante its cultural other means should be employed to limit mass shootings.
The vast majority of shooters are males under the age of 25. Brain science tells brains arent set until 25. Why not limit ownership to 25 and over? Or at least 21, the drinking age in the US. One can still hunt or use guns under 21, just under supervision of a legal age individual on private propery. Not much different than letting 19 year olds have wine at a family dinner.
I won’t go through the usual suggested gun rules as they are well known. However, comparative studies suggest strong gun rules save lives and relaxing gun rules increase gun related deaths. (For example gun related suicides increase among young white males when ownership is easier. Suicude rates go up in a corresponding fashion).
Untill recently environmentalism was not considered a left wing idea. Nixon founded the EPA after all and the socialist regimes in Eastern Europe were notorious for wrecking the environmental. For many social democrats in western europe a conflict between jobs and the environment would be decided in the favour of the former not the later which explains tge risr of Greens as a separate party.
The root of environmentalism is 19th century romanticism which was a reaction and rejection of modernity. Liberalism and socialism. It advocated a return to nature and the idea of society as organic that is part of nature as opposed to the mechanical view of the modern era. Extreme nationalist and racist embrace environmentaism as a way of preserving what belongs to their people. Thus an environmet message can come from the extreme right.
Unfortunately Michelle we need to know the motive or people will blame their political rival or their ideology. Clear factual Information is always important.
Agreed, some facts are important to establish, especially given how the media will lie for the sake of the narrative. Using their own words is helpful to establish who they really are.
“On social media, the suspect’s biography started to emerge. On his Twitter page, reviewed by Heavy, he described himself as “he/him / anime fan / metalhead / leftist / i’m going to hell and i’m not coming back.” He wrote on Twitter that he would happily vote for Democrat Elizabeth Warren, praised Satan, was upset about the 2016 presidential election results, and added, “I want socialism, and i’ll not wait for the idiots to finally come round to understanding.” You can read a roundup of his tweets – which also dealt with Parkland, Florida and 9/11 – here and later in this article. Here’s his tweet on Donald Trump’s election victory:”
As a journalist, I simply believe that knowing the facts is important. It doesn’t mean we have to wallow in the manifestos or try to analyze each and every line. Most of it is nonsense.
What I think people do get upset about with these killings is when both sides immediately start pointing fingers saying “he’s yours!” I mean, really? These people are on no real “side” of anything coherent, apart from sheer evil.
As for this being a “religious” nation, I think many of us would argue that religious practice or proclamations being an inch deep and a mile wide can create some very false impressions. I do not consider this country to be in very good spiritual shape.
Forces of dark and light do, in fact exist in the real but unseen world (I’m distancing myself from Williamson’s views, however). Evil is quite real.
And I had to shake my head at one law enforcement person being interviewed this weekend who said having this one suspect in custody could give us a wealth of insight into all of these killings, we’ll learn a lot, he said. Um, probably not so much.
His trial will come quickly, followed by an appeal, and no doubt a death penalty sentence that will be rather quickly carried out. We as Christians can and should be praying for him in the meantime, although right now I’m the first to admit that’s a mighty tall order.
I was heartened, however, to see the heartfelt response of people lining up to give blood in Texas. Apparently now there are so many would-be donors that they need to make online reservations.
Nothing. Again.

Horrifying.
I’ve often been conflicted by the death penalty, but this is the kind of case it would be meant for, justifiably.
And Texas probably won’t fool around with getting right to it.
The whole thing just makes me mourn for the brokenness of the world and how hard life can be for so many who become victims of such horrible violence.
Now it’s 20 dead and 26 injured.
Just imagine how many families and circles of friends these losses affect.
