It’s Wednesday, so don’t forget Ajissun and the folks in The Gambia.
Anyone else?
Psalm 119:161-168
ש Sin and Shin
161 Rulers persecute me without cause,
but my heart trembles at your word.
162 I rejoice in your promise
like one who finds great spoil.
163 I hate and detest falsehood
but I love your law.
164 Seven times a day I praise you
for your righteous laws.
165 Great peace have those who love your law,
and nothing can make them stumble.
166 I wait for your salvation, Lord,
and I follow your commands.
167 I obey your statutes,
for I love them greatly.
168 I obey your precepts and your statutes,
for all my ways are known to you.
The Hakka people of Taiwan are considered hard soil for evangelism. It is difficult to see any fruit in ministry among the Hakka, even after many years of sowing. The Hakka number around four million; only 0.2 per cent are Christians. Unlike other Han Chinese groups, the Hakka are not named after a geographical region, but are identified as people who either speak the Hakka language or share at least some Hakka ancestry. The Hakka traditionally practice a blend of Daoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and ancestor worship plays an important role in Hakka culture. Those who do not practice ancestor worship are considered to have betrayed their family. For Hakka to become a Christian feels like they are disowning their entire family.
There is now a seminary in Taiwan that specifically trains people to reach the Hakka.
Please pray…
That the door for evangelism will be opened. Father God, please give us more opportunities to share the Gospel with this least-reached people group.
That more mission resources will be invested in Hakka areas. Lord, we pray that you would send out more workers into the Hakka harvest field.
That the Hakka will trace back their roots to the ultimate root: Our Heavenly Father, the Creator of the universe. Jesus, please reveal Your truth to the Hakka.

Amen, from every tribe and every nation…
On the home front, yesterday’s room inspection revealed an open preg test box in seventeen son’s backpack. He apparently spent the night in his room and left that for me to discover. What it means? Who knows but God. Meanwhile, pray that if they are pregnant they respect the baby’s life and let it live and that this will open doors between us, knock down walls. We would be happy to take the girlfriend with us to classes at the preg center while he is off in the youth challenge and boot camp and school. Or he may just be playing a game.

Please pray for a sweet little boy who started piano this week. The Lord fully knows the family situation — I only see in part.

Along those lines, please pray for Noah who needs a forever family. Older child, but not yet a teen. Loves Awana and is very social and polite.

Today is my brother’s birthday and he celebrated by visiting our 89-year-old uncle in the hospital for a knee replacement (To match his two hip replacements).
We Facetimed and my uncle looks great, talked about our family plans and we had a splendid conversation. He goes home tomorrow–two days after surgery!
His father lived to be nearly 103; his mother to 92. He looks like he may beat them both–and he’s had hemophilia his entire life! Amazing.
I told him we’d pray for a continued good recovery. So there’s my request.

Pray for husband as he takes the seventeen boy to the dentist for a checkup. We want the conversation to be God’s. He does not plan to bring up the preg test issue unless there is a clear opening. They should be together in the next few minutes.

made it to Cairns, asking for help with luggage all the way as my back was not in good shape.
So I got here and decided since it was still light to go quickly out to get some groceries. Walked out of my room and found an old friend from Ukarumpa who is now in Port Moresby. so she went shopping with me. Already told me that I can stay in her room the last night, if I need to. Tod is good.
