Prayer Requests 5-18-19

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 105:1-7

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
    make known among the nations what he has done.
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
    tell of all his wonderful acts.
Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
Look to the Lord and his strength;
    seek his face always.

Remember the wonders he has done,
    his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced,
you his servants, the descendants of Abraham,
    his chosen ones, the children of Jacob.
He is the Lord our God;
    his judgments are in all the earth.

  1. The focus for the 30 days of prayer for Muslims today is the Pamiri of Central Asia, a group of about 300,000 people living primarily in Tajikistan but also in Afghanistan, in the Badakshan region. They live in hard to access mountainous regions and are hospitable, although generally poor. Legend has it that they are descended from the soldiers of Alexander the Great, due to the prevalence of blond hair and blue eyes among them. Those in Afghanistan have suffered with other Afghans in the violence and extremism, as the Pamiri are mostly Ismaili, a sect of Islam that extremists would consider corrupt. Due to geographical isolation, few Pamiri have heard the Gospel. Pray for messengers to be sent to this region (Isaiah 52:7) and pray that the Holy Spirit would prepare hearts to hear.

  2. The group to pray for today is Bengali Muslims, who live both in India, and make up the majority population in Bangladesh. After Arabs, Bengalis are the second largest population of ethnic Muslims. Bangladesh, was, like Pakistan, once a part of India, and William Carey produced a translation of the Bible into Bengali. But many Bengalis cannot read. Pray for courage and growth for Bengali believers and that the word of God, both spoken and written would spread and many more would come to Christ.
