We are to be up to 70 degrees today…time to de winter the plants out front….I can see the tender beginnings of my peonies popping up through the thawing earth… 🌸
It’s time. I need/want to plant the perimeter of the backyard with color, with plants that expand and fill, but plants that won’t require a lot of water and tending, so natives of some kind … maybe even simple daisy bushes etc. Time to get some flowers into the ground.
Daisy adds whimsy and they are hardy….Russian sage is a no brainer plant that keeps coming back year after year…and they have a lovely lavender flower. And….they draw bees like none other! Pollinators!! 🐝 🌸

(CNN) The moon is slowly shrinking over time, which is causing wrinkles in its crust and moonquakes, according to photos captured by NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.
Unlike Earth, the moon doesn’t have tectonic plates. Instead, as the moon’s interior has cooled over the last several hundred million years, it has caused the surface to wrinkle as it shrinks. Unlike the flexible skin of a grape when it shrinks into a raisin, the moon’s brittle crust breaks. This creates stair-step cliffs called thrust faults as part of the crust is pushed up and over another close part of the crust.
There are now thousands of cliffs scattered across the moon’s surface, averaging a few miles long and tens of yards high. The orbiter has taken photos of more than 3,500 of them since 2009. In 1972, Apollo 17 astronauts Eugene Cernan and Harrison Schmitt had to ascend one of these cliffs, the Lee-Lincoln fault scarp, by zig-zagging the lunar rover over it. …

I am back from the eye doctor. One eye is dilated. This will be short. I have swelling at the ba k of my good eye and will see a retina specialist in ten days. No glasses yet. Now I will listen to a book on audio. I hope to get back here later when reading is easier.
Oh Janice my heart hurts at the news of the swelling….we will most certainly continue to trust that our precious Lord is hearing our prayers and that He will make a way…sometimes “being still” is so very difficult…we love you sister… ❤️
The staff of the paper (which is the sister paper I really work for) at my new location asked if I wanted to join everyone to walk in the Gay Pride parade on Sunday.
Yikes, I thought, but I smiled and said no …
Strange to me that the staff would participate in any event they also are covering — this is a heavily gay area so I suppose it’s just what that paper has done through the years.
Glad that I didn’t feel that earthquake, but there is a volcano out there. May is red grass season here and it is hard to sleep. They call it May grass and the hills are covered with red.

A base on the moon makes no sense at all. Let the Chinese have it.

Kizzie, we are on chapter 3 of “the Silver Chair”. My boy loves them, as does his dad. Miguel’s family never read books, and certainly did not read aloud to the children. I think when we finish the series, we will move on to “Little Britches”. I read him every one of the “Thomas the Tank Engine” stories. That is one good thing about amazon, you can find any series you would like without having to go to town.

Well, so far, daughter has paid her fine for the suspended license, failure to provide proof of insurance and her debit card account is paid off and closed. One bite at a time. She thought it would go faster but since we are simply hiring her to work and not just paying it off, it will take time. And making her pay her bills. Which just keep appearing. But my gardens sure look nicer!
Interesting local news clip on the homeless issue in my town — for 4+ years this kind of mini skid row has been growing and expanding around our 1930s Post Office building overlooking the main shipping channel in the port. In recent months, it seems like it’s only getting worse when I drive by on the way home from work every day.
There’re between 50 and 100 people there at any given time according to those keeping track of the numbers. Sad and frustrating for everyone.

Happy Birthday AJ! What are the plans?
