“Mirian Zelaya Gómez was arrested March 27 in Dallas, Texas, after allegedly assaulting a woman with a gun
The 38-year-old woman abandoned Honduras late in 2018 and was seeking asylum with her daughter, who she claimed needed surgery
During her stay in Tijuana, Mexico, Mirian blasted a shelter and likened a meal of beans and tortilla to food fed to pigs
Her sister Mirna Zelaya was also arrested by authorities in relation to the incident
Both women have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and are being held on a $10,000 bond”

“The situation at our southern border has gone from a crisis to near system-wide meltdown. As the president has declared – this is a national emergency.
Late last year, we were apprehending 50,000 – 60,000 migrants a month at the southern border. Last month, we apprehended more than 75,000, the highest in over a decade. And now we are nearing 100,000 migrants per month.
Compared to past flows, these migrants are arriving in enormous groups unlike any we’ve seen before. In most years, only one or two “large groups” of more than 100 migrants would arrive at our borders. Already in this fiscal year, we’ve seen more than 100 such large groups. This is entirely unprecedented.
The system is breaking. It was not designed to handle the volume of vulnerable populations – especially families and children – who are arriving. The result is a humanitarian and security catastrophe.”
—————————
Wait. Now I’m confused. Is it the illegals who are vulnerable, or is it us that’s vulnerable to the criminals among the illegals, like the nice lady above?
“President Trump on Monday urged Democrats to work with Republicans to address U.S. asylum laws quickly, the latest push from the president to refocus on immigration after he threatened last week to shutter the southern border and cut aid to Central American countries.
“Democrats, working with Republicans in Congress, can fix the Asylum and other loopholes quickly,” he said. “We have a major National Emergency at our Border. GET IT DONE NOW!””
“As President Trump doubles down on his pledge to build a southern border wall, Hispanics are showing broad support for him, according to a new survey.
Some 50 percent of Hispanics approve of the president’s job, according to the latest McLaughlin & Associates poll of likely general election voters.
What’s more, the Republican Party has regained its edge over Democrats in the generic congressional ballot.
Pollsters John and Jim McLaughlin suggested that with the end of the Russia collusion probe aiding the president and Republicans, they are poised to come back in the poll and win re-election in 2020.”
“Supreme Court: Eighth Amendment Doesn’t Require A “Painless” Execution”
“When does pain in an execution become “cruel and unusual punishment”? According to a 5-4 Supreme Court decision authored by Justice Neil Gorsuch, only when the state deliberately “superadds … terror, pain, or disgrace.” The conservative wing carried the day in Bucklew v Precythe, freeing Missouri to put the defendant to death via lethal injection despite a medical condition that could make the process more painful:
The Supreme Court made it clear on Monday that the U.S. Constitution does not guarantee a prisoner sentenced to capital punishment “a painless death,” paving the way for the execution of a convicted murderer who sought to die by lethal gas rather than lethal injection because of a rare medical condition. …
In a decision written by conservative Justice Neil Gorsuch, the court ruled 5-4 that Bucklew had failed to present enough evidence for them to let him ask a lower court to allow him to be executed by lethal gas. The court’s five conservatives were in the majority and its four liberals dissented.
Referencing the history of capital punishment, Gorsuch wrote that “the Eighth Amendment does not guarantee a prisoner a painless death – something that, of course, isn’t guaranteed to many people, including most victims of capital crimes.”
Monday’s ruling was in line with a decision from 2015 in which the court rejected a challenge to Oklahoma’s method of execution by lethal injection on a 5-4 vote. In that case, the court held that inmates challenging a method of execution had to come up with an alternative option that was less painful.
Gorsuch and the court’s conservatives relied on two precedents to reach this conclusion, plus the historical record of acceptable execution methods. The precedents, Baze and Glossip, hold that pain alone does not create cruel and unusual conditions. Most forms of execution involve physical pain of some sort, and earlier methods which remain constitutionally viable sometimes involve considerable amounts of pain. Gorsuch mentions hanging in particular, which could be significantly painful depending on its effectiveness on snapping the neck.
In order to qualify as cruel and unusual, a defendant has to show that the state has “a feasible and readily implemented alternative method that would significantly reduce a substantial risk of severe pain and that the State has refused to adopt without a legitimate penological reason,” Gorsuch writes in the summary. Russell Bucklew failed to demonstrate that his preferred method — nitrogen hypoxia — was either feasible or readily implemented, Gorsuch ruled, despite delaying his execution for five years through this challenge.
Besides, Gorsuch summarized, Bucklew never proved it would be less painful anyway:”
“Illinois Bar Drops Hammer On Kim Foxx Over Jussie Smollett, Lays Out Possible Illegality By Her”
“To say this is a strongly worded letter is a bit of an understatement.
As you’ve no doubt heard, Illinois State Attorney Kim Foxx is in the middle of a firestorm for her apparent corrupt handling of the Jussie Smollett case. After inexplicably dropping all charges, she’s told several different stories, including some that are objectively false. She’s under FBI review, under fire from the Chicago PD, and she’s now taking hits from the Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association.
Excerpts from the letter are as follows.
The Illinois Prosecutors Bar Association serves as the voice for nearly 1,000 front line prosecutors across the State who work tirelessly towards the pursuit of justice. The events of the past few days regarding the Cook County State’s Attorney’s handling of the Jussie Smollett case is not condoned by the IPBA, nor is it representative of the honest ethical work prosecutors provide to the citizens of the State of Illinois on a daily basis.
The manner in which this case was dismissed was abnormal and unfamiliar to those who practice law in criminal courthouses across the State. Prosecutors, defense attorneys, and judges alike do not recognize the arrangement Mr. Smollett received. Even more problematic, the State’s Attorney and her representatives have fundamentally misled the public on the law and circumstances surrounding the dismissal.
The public has the right to know the truth, and we set out to do that here.
The letter then goes on to cite specific laws that may have been broken by Foxx’s conduct. To start, her recusal that wasn’t really a recusal is a big issue.”

Watch now as the Obama’s, who she did all of this at the request of, throw her under the bus.
“UK: Radical Muslims Welcome, Persecuted Christians Need Not Apply”
“In two unrelated cases, the United Kingdom denied asylum to persecuted Christians by bizarrely citing the Bible and Jesus. Both Christians, a man and a woman, are former Muslims who were separately seeking asylum from the Islamic Republic of Iran, the ninth-worst persecutor of Christians—particularly of those who were Muslims and converted to Christianity.
UK asylum worker Nathan Stevens recently shared their stories. In his rejection letter from the UK’s Home Office, which is in charge of immigration, the Iranian man was told that biblical passages were “inconsistent” with his claim to have converted to Christianity after discovering it was a “peaceful” faith. The letter cited several biblical excerpts, including from Exodus, Leviticus, and Matthew, presumably to show that the Bible is violent; it said Revelation was “filled with imagery of revenge, destruction, death and violence.” The governmental letter then concluded:
These examples are inconsistent with your claim that you converted to Christianity after discovering it is a ‘peaceful’ religion, as opposed to Islam which contains violence, rage and revenge.
In response, Nathan Stevens, the asylum seeker’s caseworker, tweeted:
… I’ve seen a lot over the years, but even I was genuinely shocked to read this unbelievably offensive diatribe being used to justify a refusal of asylum.
Stevens added:
“Whatever your views on faith, how can a government official arbitrarily pick bits out of a holy book and then use them to trash someone’s heartfelt reason for coming to a personal decision to follow another faith?
There seemed no awareness that, despite occasional verses of violence in the Bible, its main message, in both the Old and New Testaments, is to be found in Leviticus 19:18: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.”
In rejecting the claim for asylum of this man who converted from Islam to Christianity, and presumably compelling his return to Iran, the British government is effectively sentencing him to death.”
“Portland, Oregon, is a deep-blue city in a deep-blue state — in 2016, Hillary Clinton got 73% of the vote in Multnomah County, carrying Oregon by an 11-point margin — and therefore would seem to be an unlikely place to find anti-LGBT violence. So when activists in Portland claimed they had been the targets of hate crimes in February, Andy Ngo was skeptical. A transgender activist’s claim to have been attacked by assailants wielding a baseball bat? Portland’s anti-bias crime unit dropped the investigation for lack of evidence. When “a self-described fat-queer activist” claimed on Facebook that her girlfriend “was attacked by ‘two young white men’ in a maroon SUV”? Portland police don’t even have a record of a report for such an incident, according to Ngo. The good news, then, is that Portland’s LGBT community has no reason to fear they’re being targeted by an epidemic of hate crimes, but the bad news is, some activists are apparently willing to invent such incidents to support the Left’s narrative that President Trump’s election has unleashed the forces of “hate.”
In the wake of Jussie Smollett’s hoax in Chicago — another deep-blue stronghold where Trump-inspired violence would seem unlikely — Americans are increasingly suspicious toward similar claims. More and more high-profile incidents of “hate” are being revealed as hoaxes. In Mississippi last week, a member of a black church pleaded guilty to arson, setting fire to Hopewell Missionary Church and spray-painting “Vote Trump” a week before the 2016 election. As Wall Street Journal contributor Jeryl Bier noted, that hoax was the lead item in a Southern Poverty Law Center report that blamed Trump for “a national outbreak of hate.” Not only was the Mississippi church arson a hoax, Bier pointed out, but at least three other incidents featured in the SPLC report were also either faked or misreported. One of those involved “Heil Trump” being spray-painted on an “inclusive” Episcopal church in Indiana; a 26-year-old gay man eventually confessed to perpetrating that hoax, but not before it was widely cited as evidence of Republican-inspired “hate.”
Such hoaxes are self-evidently intended for political propaganda purposes. The gay man who vandalized the Indiana church, for example, explained that he wanted to “mobilize a movement” and “give local people a reason to fight for good.” This motive has long been a factor in the hate-hoax phenomenon on college and university campuses, as Michelle Malkin has observed regarding her own alma mater, Oberlin College, where it is now more or less routine for left-wing students to “mobilize a movement” with bogus hate incidents. After the Smollett hoax, in which the Empire actor claimed his white assailants had put a noose around his neck, Malkin was able to cite seven separate incidents in which nooses were part of false hate-crime claims. Yet the so-called “mainstream” media acted as willing accomplices to Smollett’s hoax, as if there was no reason to be suspicious of the idea that two white Trump supporters would be stalking an actor in downtown Chicago at 3 a.m. After the Cook County prosecutor dropped charges against Smollett, enraging even Democrats in Chicago, Carl Cannon of Real Clear Politics commented:
Although it’s a story line that only the conservative media seem to be following, it turns out that racial hoaxes are disturbingly commonplace in this country. Worse, the mainstream media often stokes them, or in some cases, takes the lead in pushing them. Their very frequency suggests a couple of disquieting deductions: First, in our victimhood culture the demand for such outrages may now exceed the supply. Second, it turned out that Jussie Smollett may have understood the political zeitgeist far better than those outraged by his scam.”
Rumors of attacks did not circulate only among radical-activist networks. Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler amplified the rumors on Twitter. So too did the Portland chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America, which blamed “right-wing agitators” for the attacks. Car-ride company Lyft shared an advertisement aimed at Portland’s LGBT community. It repeated the rumors and offered a ride credit to encourage business. Activists organized a “safety day” training event featuring a workshop called “Local Fash 101” where attendees were taught how to spot fascists.
The Portland Mercury published multiple stories and printed a claim from a woman who alleged via email that she was the victim of a brutal gay bashing in downtown Portland. (The article does not cite any records and I could find no corroborating evidence that this happened as described.)
When I asked reporter Blair Stenvick what steps she took to independently verify that allegation, she said: “I’m not interested in discussing this with you.” Portland Mercury’s news editor, Alex Zielinski, also declined to comment on my inquiry. The paper’s reports were widely shared and used to legitimize the panic.
Those who spread the rumors were cheered for bringing “awareness” to LGBT issues. Lost in all this was any concern for the people victimized in the process.
Perhaps even more alarming than all of this—if that can be imagined—is the formation of an “extrajudicial” body comprised of members of Portland’s LGBT community. This group is targeting people, doxxing them, and posting fliers with their faces on them all over Portland.”
——————–
Activists started sharing "attack alerts" & distributing flyers around Portland w/photos & names of people they blamed. Number of alleged hate attacks grew from 2 to 15. Portland was now in a moral panic about marauding right-wing gangs hunting LGBT. https://t.co/UxkmKYxYECpic.twitter.com/sAweS9ApZu
But in fairness to these men, their families, and the ordeal they’ve been put thru by their lying govt., justice requires they be allowed their say in this. A say most of the media will never give them.
“General Flynn has been grievously wronged, and Defense Department archives may have the evidence”
“It has now become clear that General Michael Flynn was set up and sandbagged by rogue FBI agents while the national security director, Susan Rice, an agent for President Obama, was orchestrating a domestic political intelligence operation of historic magnitude.
Almost two years ago, Kristen Welker, Dafna Linzer, and Ken Dilanian of NBC News told us:
Former President Obama warned President Donald Trump against hiring Mike Flynn as his national security adviser, three former Obama administration officials tell NBC News.
The evidence presented to date in public makes the case that the Obama White House was using intelligence/ counterintelligence practices and procedures against innocent Americans for political purposes. In undertaking such an effort, one of the most import aspects of any intelligence collection effort is to build out the “social network” of your targets and then send out that “work in progress” of social network analysis to others to continue to expand one’s knowledge base of “who is connected to whom.” Content analysis is the parallel part of that equation, and NSC director Susan Rice’s engagement accomplishes both those objectives.
The revelations about the growth of the Surveillance State should be of huge concern to all Americans, Democrats, Republicans, and independents.
It is evident that the former administration was creating a target list of political opponents under the false flag of national security. It is a perfect time of opportunity to say stop and enough! Please all just remember the rule of law and the Constitution, especially the Fourth Amendment.
Many early supporters of President Trump have been frozen out of his administration by individuals who could not even spell “Trump Nation.” But that did not stop the Deep State from targeting them in an illegal counter-intelligence operation. Of those early supporters who did make it into administration no one suffered more than General Flynn.”
“Papadopoulos Hints Conversation That Launched Trump-Russia Probe Was FBI Setup
These new revelations raise fresh concerns that, with the approval of the FBI, foreign governments were meddling in the 2016 election.”
“The recently released transcript of George Papadopoulos’s congressional testimony reveals a significant fact: Papadopoulos’s introduction to Joseph Mifsud—the source of the “Russia has Hillary’s emails” tip that purportedly prompted the FBI to launch an investigation into the Trump campaign—was arranged mere days after Papadopoulos announced he was joining the Trump campaign.
Saturday evening, Papadopoulos rocked Twitter with claims that “a woman in London, who was the FBI’s legal attaché in the U.K.” encouraged him “to meet Joseph Mifsud in Rome in March 2016.” These new revelations raise fresh concerns that, with the approval of the FBI, foreign governments were meddling in the 2016 election.
Mifsud has long been a focal point of those on the right attempting to disembowel the Russia collusion hoax. The basics have been known for some time.”
———————
“Mifsud has long been suspected of holding the key to efforts to target the Trump campaign. But Papadopoulos’s testimony and his tweet now implicate the amorphous London Centre for International Law Practice and the FBI in the plot to put Papadopoulos in contact with Mifsud. From there, Mifsud had but to groom Papadopoulos with promises of Russia connections that would allow him to shine in his new role as a foreign policy advisor to Trump.
It worked, and Mifsud’s supposed tip about the Russian hacking provided the FBI the pretext necessary to launch a full investigation into the Trump campaign for supposedly colluding with Russia.
While Special Counsel Robert Mueller has since established there was no collusion, more questions remain about the targeting of Trump. We can now add to those questions: Who arranged for Papadopoulos to meet Mifsud? Who ran the London Centre for International Law Practice? What was the FBI attaché’s role?
Were foreign governments or intelligence services involved? And what did the Obama administration, the CIA, the FBI, and the others involved in launching a counterintelligence investigation into a political opponent and presidential candidate know, and when did they know it?”
“At the very beginning of the Trump-Russia story, there was Carter Page. During the 2016 presidential campaign, the US intelligence community portrayed him as a ‘hot lead.’ A spy. The main link to collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. In the end, Special Counsel Robert Mueller didn’t charge Carter Page with anything. Today, Page speaks with us and reveals incredible details that may make you question much of what the American public was told over the past two years. ”
————————
“The Justice Department declined comment for this report. Carter Page is now suing the federal government for allegedly using the media to spread false propaganda about him so it would be used as evidence to get a wiretap. He’s also suing Yahoo News, the Democratic National Committee and some of their consultants.”

Two years and more they’ve torn our country apart.”

“None of this had anything to do with Putin or Russia. She simply blew it. She lost it just as she lost previously to Obama. Republicans of course cannot stand her, but Democrats loathe her, too. That’s just the way life worked out for her.
For two years, she and the Democrats have blamed Hillary’s loss on anything they could point to: the Electoral College. Jim Comey briefly reopening the email investigation when the Anthony Weiner sexting scandal revealed Huma Abedin emails in his laptop. She blamed the media. She launched a vitriolic attack, blasting the stupidity of White women who voted for Trump because they supposedly were coerced by their husbands, sons, fathers, uncles, nephews, the UPS man in the brown shorts, the male postal carrier, the male teenager at the supermarket check-out counter, and Thor, Spider Man, Batman, Superman, and the Green Hulk. White women were just too stupid not to realize that their Identity Politics interests as women aligned them with the likes of Linda Sarsour, Tamika Mallory, Ilhan Omar, and the ever-loaaaaathsome Joy Behar.
But it always came back to “Trump must have colluded with Putin. That’s the only he could have won. He colluded with Russia.” This — from the Secretary of State who gave the Russians a big red “reset” button and whose President whispered: “Tell Vladimir.… After my election, I’ll have more flexibility.”
The allegation that Trump had colluded with Putin, never made any sense to fair-minded observers. The man has been a public American patriot for decades. Just google old Trump appearances on Oprah, Letterman, Leno. All his years in public life he had been complaining about how America gets the short end of the stick on trade deals and how we have been led mostly by amateurs. Those of us who figured Trump out years ago knew he was just kidding when he said publicly at one of his news conferences, “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’ll be able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing.” He was just kidding! That is Trump’s snarky sense of unscripted humor. If he were serious, for goodness sakes, he would not have said it in public. He would have done like Podesta and met secretly with Russians. And yet all the Left Mediacracy went into a frenzy! Collusion!
The only collusion that was robust in the past decade, in which a country secretly colluded with political partisans of another country to try swinging a national election, was when Obama and John Kerry plotted and secretly colluded with Leftists in Israel to swing the 2015 Israeli national election from Prime Minister Netanyahu over to a tripartite coalition of Israeli leftist parties, outright socialist parties, and Arab parties that were running on platforms to terminate Israel. Obama and Kerry secretly sent our tax dollars — State Department funds — to bolster the anti-Netanyahu forces in the weeks leading up to the vote. So they knew what collusion is, and they projected their own wrongful and probably illegal behavior onto Trump.
I do feel bad for Trump. He has great mettle, is rich as can be, has had an apparently happy and meaningful life, is loved deeply by as many people as hate him deeply — a phenomenon that I can say, with first-hand knowledge, is even better than “just fine” — and continues to be the leader of the free world. So it may sound strange to “feel bad” for Trump. But the guy never got a day’s break in office. No honeymoon. From Day One they have hounded him and lied about him, dating back to that despicableTime Magazine Day One lie about the Martin Luther King bust in the Oval Office. He made the terrible mistake of starting his Presidency by appointing and trusting all the “recommended” Republican aides and the “safe picks.” So he had good people like Reince Priebus and Sean Spicer respectively as his Chief of Staff and Press Spokesman, but neither was cut out for the onslaught that ensued. He relied more than he should have on Paul Ryan, who many Republicans thought was going to be a dramatic improvement over John Boehner, and that reliance failed the President. He picked respected people like James Mattis, more a Democrat in ideology, as his Defense Secretary and Rex Tillerson as his Secretary of State, both good men but the wrong people to serve in a Trump Administration. And of course his most cataclysmic mistake: naming a wonderful world-class conservative United States Senator from Alabama to be his Attorney General, a pick that might have been perfect in a different era, but that could not have been more disastrous for the here and now, opening the door to the Great Collusion Hoax of 2016-2019, disrupting two years of the Trump presidency, and costing the GOP a precious Senate seat in the balance.
Now this phase of the Witch Hunt ends. Mueller has submitted his report. We soon will know more. And in the meantime we are treated to watching Pelosi, Schiff, Maxine Waters, Nadler, and the rest of them each rubbing their tails, pleading, begging:
“I do believe in collusion. I do believe in collusion. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do believe in collusion. I do believe in collusion. I do. I do. I do. I do.””
“Vox: Our ‘Emotional Devastation’ Over Trump Winning The Election Drove Us So Insane, We Believed The Russia Collusion Story”
“Since learning last week that Special Counsel Robert Mueller found no evidence of direct collusion between the Donald Trump presidential campaign and Russian officials looking to alter the outcome of the 2016 presidential elections, some left-leaning media and progressive activists have been on a soul-searching mission. How did they miss that the allegation was so thinly substantiated?
Vox Media feels it may have the answer. In an interview over the weekend with Rolling Stone writer Matt Taibbi, who claims that the Russian collusion spectacle was the worst media mistake in history, both Vox reporter Sean Illing and Taibbi agree: the Left was just far too devastated in the weeks following Trump’s election to think straight.
“A lot of people simply did not want to believe that Trump was a legitimate president, that someone this vulgar and this dishonest could win a presidential election,” Illing says. “And I think that disbelief and the emotional devastation of his election colored a lot of our judgments.”
“Absolutely. Look, almost every pundit failed to see what was happening during the presidential election. No one thought this guy would win. It was almost a 100 percent consensus in the industry. Nobody even accepted it as an idea that he could possibly win, and a lot of that had to do with the insularity of the media,” Taibbi agreed.
“Then when he became president, the instantaneous decision was to declare his presidency illegitimate and foreign-aided. That doesn’t mean all of these stories were made up, of course, but I think there was a deep need to make sense of it all, to somehow not recognize the result. So a lot of people wanted to cancel it out. But that’s not what the press is supposed to do. That’s not our job,” he added.”
“Who is Lucy Flores? Biden accuser has challenged political power structure before”
“Former Nevada assemblywoman Lucy Flores on Friday accused former Vice President Joe Biden of making her feel “uneasy, gross, and confused” when he came up behind her at a campaign event in 2014 and kissed the back of her head.
The account immediately thrust a once rising star of the Democratic Party into the national spotlight. Biden said in a statement Sunday he does not believe he has ever acted inappropriately but will listen to any suggestion otherwise.
————————
“During her 2016 congressional campaign, Flores endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential primary campaign against former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Later that year, after the primary, Flores became a board member with the Sanders-inspired group “Our Revolution” — a position she has since left. Flores has also spent time as a senior political strategist with the Latino media brand mitú and, more recently, co-founded the Luz Collective, a digital media advocacy group. Flores has yet to endorse a candidate in the 2020 Democratic primary, but she has not fully left the electoral fray. Flores attended a Beto O’Rourke rally over the weekend and praised the Kamala Harris campaign’s efforts to create a better working environment for its staffers.”
“Baltimore mayor goes on leave as ‘self-serving’ book deal scandal intensifies”
“Baltimore’s embattled mayor announced Monday she is taking an indefinite leave of absence, just as a political scandal intensifies over what critics call a “self-dealing” book-sales arrangement, threatening her political career.
In a brief statement, Mayor Catherine Pugh’s office announced she feels unable to fulfill her obligations as mayor due to deteriorating health brought on by a recent bout of pneumonia.
“She’s been advised by her physicians that she needs to take time to recover and focus on her health,” her office’s statement said, adding that the City Council president will take over Pugh’s day-to-day responsibilities,
The mayor’s decision to go on leave came the same day that Maryland’s Republican governor asked the state prosecutor to investigate allegations of self-dealing by Pugh and the state’s comptroller, a Democrat, urged Pugh to step down immediately.
In a letter to the state prosecutor released Monday, Gov. Larry Hogan said recent allegations facing Pugh and her questionable arrangements to sell her illustrated “Healthy Holly” books are “deeply disturbing.” Hogan said he was particularly concerned about a $500,000 sale to a university-based health care system “because it has significant continuing ties with the State and receives very substantial public funding.””
It sounds like she took tips from currently imprisoned Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski.
Pay to play is the Democrat way when it comes to local politics. And Kaiser Permanente knows how the game goes. Same deal they had with Obama. We’ll back your ObamaCare, you show us the ObamaCare money. And he did.
“The Baltimore Sun reported last month that while serving on the University of Maryland Medical System’s (UMMS) board of directors, Pugh arranged deals beginning in 2001 to sell 100,000 copies of her self-published “Healthy Holly” series to the medical system at a total cost of $500,000. There were no competitive bids for the deal, and Pugh resigned from the board last month.
On Monday, the Sun reported that the health insurance giant Kaiser Permanente paid Pugh $114,000 for copies of her books from 2015 to 2018. In September 2017, the city’s spending board, which Pugh controls, awarded Kaiser a $48 million contract for insurance for city employees. Pugh has not said anything about a deal with Kaiser.”
Pugh initially called the investigation into her deal with the UMMS a “witch hunt,” but has refunded $100,000 to the medical system.
“In hindsight, this arrangement with the University of Maryland Medical System was a regrettable mistake,” she said during a press conference Thursday.
Pugh said the system then gave the books to day care programs and the city school system. As of last month, at least 8,700 books Pugh sold the medical system sat unread in a warehouse.”
Additionally, the 11 News I-Team has found that a citation was issued in April 2017 for the renovation of a house purchased by Mayor Catherine Pugh without proper permits.
This is the same house, as the 11 News I-Team has reported, that Pugh bought in December 2016, apparently for cash. No mortgage was recorded. It was fully renovated and, according to an open citation, without proper permits.
The house is in what’s known as a local historic district, which means any renovation must meet certain guidelines to maintain a neighborhood’s character.
But in March 2017, a citation was issued against the contractor, citing violations of working without permits.
The work included 20 windows that had been changed, a porch that had been altered and a second-floor deck that was added — all without authorization of the commission that oversees historic preservation and is known as CHAP.
Housing Commissioner Michael Braverman got involved when the citation wasn’t abated. Braverman is a Pugh appointee. He was provided an internal memo spelling out what needed to be done to the house to comply with historic guidelines. A housing spokesperson said Braverman spoke with the mayor personally about it.
But to date, the citation remains open. The fine and penalty now totals $1,500. The mayor is said to be working with her attorney to correct the violations.
And all while the city is experience a record number of murders and other violent crimes and refuses to let Johns Hopkins hire their own police department. But fear not, they are wrestling with the important issue of whether to ban Styrofoam food containers.
Too funny, in a not funny way. That’s so similar to Pawlowski too. He did tons of renovations to his home and then pulled permits only later when exposed for it. It’s like a racket they run. It’s crazy, but as old Fed Ed has shown, they wouldn’t do it if they couldn’t get away with it.
And if Baltimore is anything like Allentown, the Dem run sity ethics committee will of course clear her. 🙄
But the real problem isn’t the corrupt mayors. It’s the lever pulling idiots voting straight D for decades who elect said corrupt mayors. In Pawlowski’s case, he was re-elected despite facing a 54 count indictment from the feds, crimes which he was eventually convicted of. And he ran for Senate at the same time.
Well now. That didn’t take long.

Late last year, we were apprehending 50,000 – 60,000 migrants a month at the southern border. Last month, we apprehended more than 75,000, the highest in over a decade. And now we are nearing 100,000 migrants per month.

Wait. Now I’m confused. Is it the illegals who are vulnerable, or is it us that’s vulnerable to the criminals among the illegals, like the nice lady above?

https://hotair.com/archives/2019/04/01/supreme-court-eighth-amendment-doesnt-require-painless-execution/

Radical Muslims are in.
Christians? Not so much.
The reason? Absolutely stupid.

An epidemic of hate crime….. hoaxes.
https://spectator.org/a-real-epidemic-of-fake-hate/

“Ngo continues:

But wait, there’s more . . .

Linda,
Too funny, in a not funny way.

It’s amazing the corruptions Dems tolerate from their so-called leaders.
