Anyone have something to share?
Psalm 142
1 I cry aloud to the Lord;
I lift up my voice to the Lord for mercy.
2 I pour out before him my complaint;
before him I tell my trouble.
3 When my spirit grows faint within me,
it is you who watch over my way.
In the path where I walk
people have hidden a snare for me.
4 Look and see, there is no one at my right hand;
no one is concerned for me.
I have no refuge;
no one cares for my life.
5 I cry to you, Lord;
I say, “You are my refuge,
my portion in the land of the living.”
6 Listen to my cry,
for I am in desperate need;
rescue me from those who pursue me,
for they are too strong for me.
7 Set me free from my prison,
that I may praise your name.
Then the righteous will gather about me
because of your goodness to me.
Thankful for Kare’s good report.
Heavenly Father, You are wonderful in. all Your ways. Thank You for surgeries that are so much simpler than they use to be. Thank You specifically for Kare”s husband’s successful surgery. Please continue to bless him with quick recovery. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

BG has been on probation for the last year. During that time she has failed 3 drug tests. She had court Thursday afternoon. Luckily or unluckily the judge used to be a personal friend. BG was born in September and his BG by the same name was born in February. We all used to go to church together. He had given her several chances and Thursday was the end of the road. He told her he could put her in jail for 180 days, but he was putting her in for 5 days. Yesterday I called her representative in the drug court to find out what our options are. The judge, while he won’t court order it, STRONGLY suggests that she go into a 90 day in-patient program.
I had to take BG’s thyroid medication to the jail yesterday. She was out in the yard, saw me and put her hands over her face and started crying. I ignored her. When I left she waved and I waved back. This is among the hardest things I have had to do and and telling all of you isn’t easy either.
Her father is being a weasly, spineless, cheapskate. He doesn’t want to send her to one program because it is faith based— Well may that is just where God wants her. He doesn’t want to send her to another because it is too far away. Who cares? I know he is only worried about how much it is going to cost him. He wants to let her go back to the out patient program becaue he know I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR THAT!!!!!! Cheap ^%$#*&^ This is our child!
I am ashamed of what I did when I got off the phone with him. I called his mother. She told me to let her handle him. That is exactly what I wanted.

Praying, that’s a lot of decisions you’re juggling there, Kim.
Stepping it up to in-house treatment sounds like a wise option at this stage. Check them out to get a good one, her counselor should be able to help there (assuming counselor is someone you trust). You already have a lot of resources to draw on.

You did the right thing. Thanks for being vulnerable and sharing. We love you and we love BG.

You do what you must do Kim…and we continue to pray over you and BG. When our BG was finally found and placed in jail for drug possession…probation violation (she had an amazing probation officer and the Denver police dept was so kind to us) …she spent 5 months in jail. A sobering moment seeing your child in those surroundings. We did not bail her out. After she served her time we did pay all of her fines so that we could get her into a drug rehab out of state..we paid for that as well. She tells me today that her motivation was to never go back to a “place like that”…how I would love to hear her motivation is to serve our Lord in all things and recognize His intervention in her life. I have prayed over that girl more than anyone in my life…and continue to do so!
But, she is 34 now, married, three kiddos, has her Master’s Degree and has just gotten a substantial promotion with LA County. We continue to pray for her to turn back to our Lord…and I shall continue to pray for BG….we love you…and her….

Oh, Kim. My problems are so miniscule. Virtually giving you a great big hug. And praying and praying.

I have prayed Michelle’s prayer of “do whatever it takes God”. I console myself that she was prayed into existence and has been God’s all along. I pray that 5 days in jail will “break” her spirit and humble her. I pray that she will be receptive to us helping her. As Mr. P reminded me, she is 21 and doesn’t have to do anything we want her to do. I pray I don’t take a frying pan to the back of George’s head. Now, should his mother do it, I will admit to laughing. She has already spoken to him and I think he was rather an ass about it,
BG gets out Monday at 4pm. He is going to get her. I will be out of town. It is time for him to get a spine and not roll over and “just want her to be OK”.
Please, please, continue to pray for her. I want her to be better too, but I am no longer willing to let her manipulate.

Kim – The Teen Challenge program has an excellent success rate, much more so than secular programs. A journalist wrote a book about it, citing “the Jesus factor” as why it is so successful.
And although it has “Teen” in its name, it is mostly adults in the program. Our church used to have the Teen Challenge Men’s Choir from the main campus in Pennsylvania come every summer to sing and give their testimonies. We hosted a couple of the men overnight in our home a couple times. One guy was in his 50s, the others in their 20s.
Praying for you both. ❤

just the fact that she is in jail tells me God is working.
God is good, all the time.

Thank you for your perspective Jo.
Kare, I apologize. I haven’t known what was going on with your husband. I do know your story of him being in pain and not having medication. Please forgive me.

Kim, no apology necessary!!!! That’s not what I meant at all. The perspective was needed as I was feeling sorry for myself. I am thankful I am not in your situation and I lift you and BG up in prayer.

Teen Challenge is awesome! They come to our church at least once a year. AND people can help sponsor attendees monthly.

KAre I didn’t take it any way nor mean you weren’t giving my problem enough attention. I have been wrapped up in my situation and having a decent pity party of my own.
I did send BG a text even though she will not get it until late Monday that I love and seeing her in jail broke my heart. I told her this time mommy can’t fix it. She I going to have to fix it herself. I will help but I can’t do it for you.

Kare – Within the past couple weeks or so, I saw an article that said that we do not need to compare our own struggles and problems against others who have it worse. A loving father does not berate one child for crying over a stubbed toe when another child has the flu. A loving father can see each child’s woe, and comfort each one.
Of course, seeing what others are going through does sometimes help put our own problems in perspective, without having to deny that we are troubled by our own problems.

She obviously needs the help and cannot save herself, so I pray her father will send her to the best place, Kim. You are being very wise, but I know how it hurts. She has so many prayers being said for her.
I believe it is now called Adult&Teen Challenge. They also come to our church. Some people seem to need several programs, before they finally ‘get’ it. I am sure that many times such people are considered hopeless, but we find it is not so.

The individual has to be ready to make the change, same as any other habits we have. We have to reach the point matters to our self, not just those who love us. And, yes, it may take several different programs to find the one that works for that individual, or until they are really ready to make the effort. We continue to pray both for you and for her and the others involved. Wisdom for all. Patience.

Oh, Kim, I can imagine your heart must break. But it sounds like lesser consequences haven’t been enough; may this be what it takes to get her attention and turn her toward genuine help!
Praying for you and for her, dear friend and sister.

I am so sorry to hear about all you have been going through, Kim. BG is where she needs to be for a reality check. It sounds like it is just long enough to let her taste and see that it is not the life she wants, and a Christian rehab would be great. I will pray for that to hsppen.

My friend, Karen, is pretty desperate these days. I prayed with her again today on the phone. Please say some prayers for her to be hopeful of things getting better. Sometimes she says she can’t go on. With me not able to drive, I am feeling badly that I can not do anything to help her.
Please pray that I pass my pre-op exam on Wed. so I can schedule surgery.

Our World War ll vet had to leave right after he got to church. Two of the men escorted him home (he lives about half a block away) and shortly after, the ambulance went by. I suspect he went to the hospital again. But he could use some prayer. He is a light for the Lord, taking every opportunity to share His Love. And he is more than ready to go Home.
