Prayer Requests 11-5-18

Anyone have something to share?

Psalm 90

Lord, you have been our dwelling place
    throughout all generations.
Before the mountains were born
    or you brought forth the whole world,
    from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

You turn people back to dust,
    saying, “Return to dust, you mortals.”
A thousand years in your sight
    are like a day that has just gone by,
    or like a watch in the night.
Yet you sweep people away in the sleep of death—
    they are like the new grass of the morning:
In the morning it springs up new,
    but by evening it is dry and withered.

We are consumed by your anger
    and terrified by your indignation.
You have set our iniquities before you,
    our secret sins in the light of your presence.
All our days pass away under your wrath;
    we finish our years with a moan.
10 Our days may come to seventy years,
    or eighty, if our strength endures;
   yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow,
    for they quickly pass, and we fly away.
11 If only we knew the power of your anger!
    Your wrath is as great as the fear that is your due.
12 Teach us to number our days,
    that we may gain a heart of wisdom.

13 Relent, Lord! How long will it be?
    Have compassion on your servants.
14 Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
    that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
15 Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
    for as many years as we have seen trouble.
16 May your deeds be shown to your servants,
    your splendor to their children.

17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;
    establish the work of our hands for us—
    yes, establish the work of our hands.

  1. I would like to thank anyone who prayed for me in the latest family drama I was involved in and for my brother. He had his bladder out and has said it was not as difficult to adapt to as he thought. The cancer should be gone. I was able to speak to him today and with my sister, one of the people with whom he is/was very angry. I think this will settle down now and am praying for all to come to know the Lord (some better) and mature. It is things like this that show me how superior God’s way is to ours and how he does work in us to bring us to maturity. Not that we attain it all here, but the growth is evident when you walk by the Spirit instead of your natural inclinations.

  2. Kathaleena – Glad to hear your brother is doing well. My brother’s prognosis is very promising, with a survival rate of 75%.

    They were able to remove all of the tumor from the bladder. He is now having six weeks of immunotherapy where they put a bacteria that causes TB into the bladder, and it revs up his immune system to kill any cancer cells that still exist in his body. So far, the side effects of the immunotherapy are very manageable. (This info is from an email from my SIL.)

    This is the second cancer he has had in a year, and the doctors say this one is unrelated to the first, which has supposedly been dealt with successfully. Praying this double-scare will draw him (and his family) to God.

  3. I haven’t told you that Elvera’s sister was sick. but she was.
    She died just a while ago.
    I haven’t told Elvera yet. I will tomorrow. She, and Polly were the closest to Elvera.
